Meridith's POV

"Marylyn, go open the door someone's knocking" my father said from the living room ."Hey Mer" mom said," would you watch this bacon as they sizzle, I'll be right back" ,mom rubbed her hands on the apron and left the kitchen.

Dad could have just stood up and go get the door but as usual whenever he watched soccer, not even an earthquake could get him off that couch.

I turned the heater off and removed the slightly fried bacon from the pan . I then went to the living room and saw a man standing,he was wearing a black suit, black matching pants and black shoes,he wasn't wearing sun glasses but tucked it into his breast pocket. He was holding a brief case and his free hand was behind his back. His speech looked rehearsed as he said," I won't stay here longer than I'm supposed to, just sign the documents, these are your marriage certificate and other essential evidences of your marriage to your husband to be". He stretched forth his hand and I took the brief case. I sat down with it. "782", he said and I looked at him with a confused expression. "That's the code to the brief case".I inserted it and it opened with a click. The man handed me a pen and I didn't bother reading it because I was disgusted and angry . I still couldn't digest the fact that I was getting married tomorrow.

I could see that the name of my husband to be was Alan Tucker and he had signed already. I felt like spitting in disgust that name and that man now revolts me. I signed it and others as well. I stood up and left.

Ten minutes later, my mum came into my room with a shopping bag. In it was a V - necked gown with diamonds and pearls stoned around the neck. The back and waist sides were transparent , it was split up to the thigh and a transparent material designed the area and accompanying it was a sliver low heeled shoe which was designed with pearls that looked real and genuine . Even those on the dress looked real too.

It seemed they were rich because they wouldn't have been able to ruin my life in two days other wise. I was blackmailed into this marriage. We were a good to go family that lived a comfortable life . We didn't struggle for a three square meal and owned a small factory that manufactured cookies. We used an ancient recipe that had been passed from generations. We didn't struggle to make ends meet. We had a perfect family living in harmony until Alan came along. We even afforded a slightly fancy car and I had just recently graduated from college.

"Mr Tucker called Mer " ,my mom said."A make up artist and hair stylist are coming tomorrow, he said a car would be sent to pick you up for a white wedding ceremony . I've always wanted to see you as a bride but not like this, not under these circumstances . I'm sorry Mer , I can't do anything to help you, I've failed as a mother ", she said with a shaky voice.

"You haven't failed mom , you are still the one I will always love , this is not your fault" I said as I hugged her.
