30 Speak Of The Devil

Rani stared at the man's stretched hands and her cheeks tinted red. All of this was new to her. No one has ever stretched his hands and asked her to dance since she was born, even if she knew how to dance. More shocking was that the man asking her for a dance was well-dressed and handsome. He looked like a reputable person in the country. But she was just a lowly maid. What will happen when people find out that this man danced with a lowly maid like her?

It seems like no one knows she was a maid since she was dressed properly.

Rani was about to accept the man's hand when Raziel spoke.

"Sorry, she can't dance. She's with me," she opposed but Rani quickly placed her hand on the man's hand.

"I'll go, Raziel. I'll be fine. Don't be worried. You should also dance with someone," Rani said as they both used their eyes to communicate. She knew Raziel was scared of standing alone and not worried about her, but she said that because of the man.

Raziel crumpled her face aqnd using her eyes to tell Rani not to leave but Rani pretended not to know what she meant and left with the man to the dancefloor.

She watched as they both stepped into the dancefloor and began to dance. 'Rani, that betrayal!'' Raziel thought, gritting her teeth in anger but it soon faded when she saw how happy Rani was on the dance floor. It was greedy of her to want Rani by her side when she wanted to enjoy her first time in a royal party. She now felt guilty for trying to shoo the man away.

"Oh, these parties. I pray this will be the last I'll attend for now." Raziel complained. She hoped the dance would be over soon and Rani would be back to keep her company. From everything that happened that morning at their house, her brain was so stressed out that she just wanted to lie down and sleep.

Speaking about what happened that morning, where is the damn king. She remembered he was the cause of why her family was previously disarray which led to her feeling out of the mood. If he haven't taken that book, May wouldn't have been angry and she would not have been scared of what May would do to her once she finds out. May would probably break her bones or worse cast a spell and kill her on the spot. Gosh! That's how May hates it when someone takes her belongings without her notice.

She has to find the king and take the book from him.

"Care for a dance, milady?" She heard a voice from behind and rolled her eyes.

"No I don't," without caring to know who it is, she quickly refused.

"You sure you don't?"

"I said I don..." She abruptly turned to face the person and her remaining words buried in her mouth. Speak of the devil.

"Care for a dance?" The king repeated, beaming at her. He lowered his height so his face would be at the same height with hers and she stared at him in anger and her eyes had fire in them.

Raziel felt goosebumps rise on her skin as he came to the same length with her face. She tried to avoid his eyes but he followed her eyes with his own and forced her to look at him. She looked into his eyes and all her words got buried in her mouth. No doubt the king was handsome with black thick hair and strong cheek bones.

His golden red eyes stared back as his cunning lips curved into a wide smile and her fragile and weak heart skipped a beat. How could someone be so handsome?

Coming back from space and noticing what she was thinking, Raziel immediately got a hold of herself and rolled her eyes at him. She still haven't forgotten what made her angry like this. She wanted to wipe that smirk he always wear out of his face.

"I don't want to dance. At least, not with you," she finally replied.

He clicked his tongue and stood in his full length.

"Oh sweetheart. You don't look happy. Why not tell me who offended you?"

"What are you going to do to the person?"

"I'm going to wipe that from your life so he won't be able to offend you anymore," king Valhoon stated in a serious tone, showing that he wasn't joking and his words could easily come to pass.

"Why don't you just wipe yourself so you won't be able to offend me anymore."

"Tsk. Too bad! If you had me told a name, I would have done it without a second thoughts."

"Now that you know it's you, please wipe yourself from my life," Raziel demanded.

"Sweet sweet, Raziel. I would have done any other thing but, how can I wipe my unwilling self from your beautiful life?"

He asked, giving her that charming smile of his.

"Come, darling. We should dance," the king offered again, stretching his hands forward for her to take and this time.

"Just give me my book. I don't want to," she refused but still put her hands on top of his and he led her to the dancefloor. The guests stared in awe at the sight of their king with a pretty woman on the dancefloor. The other dancing couples gave way to them and danced on the other side of the dance floor, while others simply stopped dancing and stood to watch.

The sight of them was pleasing to the eyes as it is not everyday they get to see the king, life and direct in a party. Most of the parties organized in the royal castle were held without the arrival of the king. But today he was there in person and much more took the initiative to dance.

Since Halloween was a day to celebrate the dead, others believed that the king was present so he could also celebrate his deceased parents. Maybe they were right, maybe not.
