6 CHAPTER 6

Once the invigilator began their fight, they started skipping, preparing to react to anything. Unlike the other 4 that always rushed at him the moment the fight began, this one was staying back, observing him which Gohru approved.

'Not bad. He's not blindly rushing in at the start but instead watching my every move. This guy deserves the title of Ace in this Dojo.'

Deciding to test the waters, Gohru slowly skips toward Kenichi.

'Let's see what he does…'

Once they were close enough, Gohru swung a low kick. Kenichi reacts to the low kick by raising his left leg to stop the kick using his shin.

'He could have dodged that slow low, so that means that he's confident about his legs… Need more info.'

Wanting Kenichi to exchange more moves, Gohru goes in for a fake. Rushing in, Gohru steps into the 17- year old's range. Deciding to now go on the offensive, Kenichi throws out a left front kick.

'F-Fast!'

Gohru barely dodges the kick by stepping back instantly when he threw the kick.

'That was fast! I almost got hit by that! Was that his Quirk?'

Paired with strong leg power combined with his leg length plus the probability of a passive strengthening Quirk, reaching in to get a hit was going to be tough. So, what do you do when your opponent is bigger? Bait him and weather his attacks. Make him think that he has the advantage until he slips. Everyone slips.

Realizing that Gohru couldn't compete with his superior reach, he advances to pressure Gohru with his advantage.

'Good thinking! This guy is good!'

Throwing all sorts of punches and kicks, the only thing Gohru could do was try his best to dodge and protect all his vitals while weathering the storm.

"Our genius is in a tight spot! What shall he do to prevail!"

He tried to dodge the attacks, but with his insane reach and power on his legs, Gohru had to suffer from some attacks.

'S-Shit! Those hurts!'

He thought as his left leg gets hit by another low kick to the thigh from Kenichi before raising his arm to block a roundhouse kick to the head.

'But this is nothing compared to Taejin's demonic training.'

He thought as he leans back to dodge a sidekick to the head before redirecting a right hook with his left hand. Taking a step back, he noticed that he was at the end of the sparring square, so he rolls away from another low kick — 'This guy really loves his low kicks' — and positioned himself in the middle of the square.

'He always swings his arms when he roundhouses, leaving his face unguarded! That's it!'

Now noticing his opponent's fatal flaw, Gohru rushes toward Kenichi with a plan. Once he stepped into Kenichi's range, Kenichi, who thought that Gohru was trying to get another attack in, swung another low kick to the leg.

'I've analyzed you, Kenichi! I knew you would do that!'

Predicting that he would do so, he took a step back to dodge it before continuing his rush. Panicking to stop him from advancing towards himself, he swung a full power roundhouse to the stomach.

Waiting until the last minute, Gohru, with his small body size, jumps 3 feet into the air.

"W-What leg strength! Jin waited until the last moment of the swing to jump into an advantageous spot!"

'This is my chance!'

Cocking his right leg back, he shifted his body midair to release as much momentum as he could in the air to deal the most damage he could do.

"HYAH!"

SWING!

With no time to react, Gohru goes through and slams his leg into a surprised Kenichi's unguarded chin. A jumping front kick.

PAAH!

"K-Kuh!" Kenichi exclaims in pain as he fell to the ground, clutching his chin.

"And the winner is our genius! Jin Gohru!" The man yells into the mic as Gohru quickly runs to Kenichi, zoning the instructor out, worried that he may have harmed Kenichi.

"Are you OK? I think I put too much power into that." He honestly said to him since he had decided to try and make him his sparing partner after his damn well performance. He raises his hand to pull Kenichi up, who grabs it thankfully.

"Yeah, I'm fine. The gear took most of the impact. But that was a good match, nice fight!"

"Thanks, also, you should make sure that whenever you throw a roundhouse, raise your guard."

"I've been trying to, but it's now a habit because of the old instructors." He said while glaring at one of the instructors responsible for the younger kids. I guess that instructor didn't teach him that well.

"Hey, can I get your number? I'd like to spar with you whenever." I said while noting to get a phone for myself with the tournament money in the next 2 weeks.

"Sure, I'd love to!" Gohru could see his enthusiasm for martial arts, which he was thankful for since they would be sparing a lot after this.

'This guy is definitely going to go pro; I can see it in his eyes.' He thought to himself as the instructor plugs their tournament in.

"That was a spectacular fight by our genius, Jin Gohru! If you want to watch more of his amazing performance, he will be competing in our annual Tokyo Martial Arts Tournament that's being held in 2 weeks' time on Saturday with the first prize being $300! So, if you're interested, come to our dojo!"

So shameful, but that prize money is very attractive. Once the instructors finished their filming, Gohru walked up to them and asked.

"So, Sensei. Where are you going to place me?"

He guessed that they really haven't thought about it, since their panicked face gave it away.

"Er… Ahem! Don't worry, Jin, you'll be in the older student brackets with Kenichi. Your skill level is that high!" They said as Gohru sighed in relief.

'Thank God. I do not want to fight against chumps my age. And besides, older people mean more techniques to steal, especially since there were multiple dojos that have different martial arts joining the tournament! Hehehehehe…'

Once the day was over, Gohru quickly ran to Kenichi to exchange contact information, with Gohru just giving the orphanage's phone number while Kenichi gave his own phone number.

"The tournament is coming soon, so I'd like for us to spar soon!"

"No problem, Jin-kun. I think this Saturday at 10 in the morning is good. You?"

"Yep, sure. Meet me here." He wrote down a park somewhere near the orphanage's address to him as their location to train together.

"I look forward to the spar, Jin-kun!"

They said their goodbyes before leaving the dojo.

Meanwhile…

While Gohru was doing his daily training in his capsule, word of his fight reached the whole of Japan. Online forums start to write about him, saying that "He was a "genius" of martial arts" and "Someone his age had shown so much talent".

Now with the interest of the public, the sales of the tournament increased twofold as 90% of the sales were tickets to watch him fight in the tournament.

He had not thought that he would be so famous overnight. Maybe only in Tokyo after a few days, that was his prediction, but it got shattered immediately.

Tomorrow was going to be a hectic day, and he doesn't even know it.
