CHAPTER 2

The first and only thing that he could feel upon becoming conscious was "cold". Way too cold. Slowly opening his eyes, he could only think of one thought.

'What the fuck, Mom and Dad.'

He was out in the open in a basket next to a gate. Looking down, he grinned, at least a baby version of a grin, as he saw a unique-looking device with a button. Now squinting his eyes upwards, he mentally sighed once he saw that he couldn't read the language on the sign of the gate.

'Honestly should have used some points for translation. Now learning Japanese is going to be a pain.'

After a few more minutes of waiting out in the cold weather, his baby eyes frowned. No one was coming out, well it's fair since they would have no reason to check, so he started screaming.

"Waaaa! Waaaaaa!"

As embarrassing as it sounds, he couldn't risk waiting outside until dawn. His baby body would have died beforehand. So, with a pint tint on his face, he kept on crying until someone came out.

An old lady walks out of the door of the orphanage, trying to find the crying sound of a child. Eventually, the old lady finds the boy crying his heart out. Bending down to meet the boy, she caresses the baby's cheek, causing him to stop crying to look at her.

"Poor boy… Come, this shall be your new home now."

She says as the baby yawns, causing her to carry the boy back into the orphanage. Eventually, the baby sleeps from exhaustion.

4 Years Later…

Life in an orphanage is better than one would have imagined. It's not like those fanfics who have matrons and staff that treat the kids like shit, or stories that make it so that the orphanage is broke and all that. Life here was actually not that bad.

Waking up at 7 a.m. sharp due to habits, the now older boy yawned as he got up from one of the 10 futons in the room. Taking a deep breath, he prepares himself as he quietly walks to the doorframe. Fixed on the door frame was a bell attached with a string. With a pull of the string, the bell rang.

DING! DING! DING!

Slowly, children from ages 3 to 7 start waking up as the boy told everyone.

"Hey! Get up! Today's Quirk Examination Day! The doctors are coming at 9 and Grandma wants everyone ready by then!"

The kids cheered at the news as they started walking in groups to the bathroom to get ready for the day, but not before greeting the boy.

"Jin onii-chan!"

"Good morning, Jin nii-chan!"

"Morning, Gohru."

"Excited, Jin?"

"Not really." The boy named Jin Gohru answered as he walked with a group of orphans together to the bathroom for a bath. The youngest one, Kodao, age 3, pouts when hearing his "brother's" boring response.

============================================

Kodao! Age 3! Quirk: Has not reached the appropriate age!

============================================

"Well, that's because maybe onii-chan already has his Quirk!"

"Now now, Kodao, he may be hiding his excitement. Look at those grey eyes, he must be hiding some things." Said a mature voice. Looking at his side, Gohru's eye twitched as his older brother, Ryuji, age 8, poked his cheek teasingly, which the boy knocked away.

============================================

Ryuji! Age 8! Quirk: Kinetic Electricity! Ryuji can store kinetic energy gained into his legs, which he can then expel for electric damage! Great to save costs by charging generators in the orphanage!

============================================

"I'm not. I'm just worried that the others…" He didn't finish his sentence, but Ryuji understood his statement. The boy hums as he rests his arm on his chin.

Out of the total 17 children in the orphanage, today 3, including himself, are going to be examined. So far, only one had shown signs of a Quirk.

"Don't think about it. Just enjoy, after all, we get a day off from school!" The boy grins as they take out their clothes. Gohru's body has not developed yet, since the book in the capsule had told him not to until he reached his birthday, which was a month for now.

Yes, he had sneaked out from the orphanage's watchful eyes a year ago and had activated the capsule. In the dome-shaped room was an empty training room with 10 manuals and a bank accounting book along with a card.

The manuals were labeled from 1 to 10, each representing the years required to learn and master his body and technique of Renewal Taekwondo. Opening the first page of book 1, it warned Gohru of 2 things.

1st, he had to start training at the age of 4 or 5 to be able to learn Renewal, preferably after one's fourth birthday. Second, he could only start training until his Quirk manifested to earn the best results possible since his body could adapt to his body killing itself from the training, which made the boy shudder at the future training sessions.

So, trusting the manual, he had waited for 1 year, a month, and 7 days to get started, with 23 more days remaining before he could begin training, which gave him a sense of excitement since he still couldn't get over the fact that he was in BNHA.

Hopefully, his Quirk manifests today since he had no way of knowing if he already did manifest it or not.

"Thank you very much." The doctor thanked one of the total 3 staff members of the orphanage, Ayumi nee-chan, for the tea on the table before looking at the three. On Gohru's left was a boy named Daiki, age 5 that had just sprouted a Quirk not long ago, while on his left was a girl the same age as Daiki that had not gotten a Quirk yet.

He never really gotten to talk with the girls, now that he thinks about it. He should do something about it soon.

"Now, I know that the two of you know the procedure, Jin here doesn't, so may I use my Quirk on you as a demonstration, Daiki?" The doctor's peaceful tone does not even calm the boy down, his body tense as he thought mentally.

'He may be a goon for All For One. I must tread carefully.'

Daiki walks forward to the sitting doctor, who placed his hand on the young boy's head before his hand glowed. After a few tense seconds, the hand left the boy's head.

"Interesting. Daiki, your Quirk allows you to mathematically count numbers automatically at a fast rate. Very useful for support roles in the Hero Profession." The boy lights up when he hears that he could be a hero.

"My Quirk, Molecular Understanding, can understand molecules, that includes Q-Cells that humans have. So, I can identify the Quirk that a person has." The doctor explains this to Gohru, who cursed mentally.

'I guess I can't fake my Quirk now…'

The reasoning behind this is that after reincarnating into this universe, he realized that he had made a mistake. Reactive Adaptation is too strong. The Quirk to adapt any part of your muscles or bones each time you enter a harmful state is a Quirk that would catch the eye of All For One, especially since 1. He is an orphan so it's easier to just kidnap him and take his Quirk forcefully, and 2. The Quirk will be very powerful on a Nomu with Regeneration.

'I should have thought things more before deciding…'

Without any other choice, he walks to the doctor hesitantly before letting the man touch his head. The moment the hand laid on his head, it felt like he was being looked at naked. Eyes were watching his every move and were raking his body up to down, leaving no crevice unturned. It was uncomfortable, to say the least.

"Hmm… Your Quirk is very powerful, Jin. Adaptation to the body in situations, is very promising indeed! Though I do not know the requirements to activate the Quirk, it will be a useful one when deciding to be a Hero."

He said with a proud tone as Ayumi nee-chan gasped.

"Really? Gohru, did you hear that? You can be a hero!"

But the only thing that was in his mind was that his Quirk manifested. His Quirk manifested! That means he could start training!

'Renewal Taekwondo here I COME!'
