1 Chapter 1 - the Stranger

It was a cold winter night when he walked through the doors. I could feel the rage boiling off of him. This city is my territory, and he does not belong here. The stranger slowly turned his head towards me, sniffing the air. I woged and lunged to shred his throat.

I woke up in my cousin's arms, teeth chattering. I didn't remember what happened after I lunged. Shawn was growling. I looked up and saw a human, David, gawking. Shit. I knew he did not see humans as he looked at us. Shawn put me down as I scented our alpha, Peter, so I looked to him for permission to deal with the human without spilling more blood. He nodded.

I held out my hand. "Come on," I said. "I'll explain everything and get you something to eat before you pass out." David wouldn't take my hand. He even flinched as I took a step closer. I rolled my eyes. "I've known you since 6th grade; if I were going to bite you, I would have done it already". He cautiously took my hand, and we walked to my car.

We pulled up to McDonald's and ordered some basic big macs. I waited for all the annoying questions to start after I finished my food. Finally, he asked me: "Are you going to kill me?"

"No," I said in a monotone; I was already annoyed that I had to deal with this guy.

"When will I be free to go?"

"You are free to go, but if you go, you don't get to ask more questions."

"Who else knows that you aren't human?"

"So far, you are the only human to find out."

"Why are you like this?"

"I am what's called Wesen. To be more specific, I am a female Blutbaden. I was born this way, and so was the rest of my family. Blutbaden have been around for thousands of years."

"Are you a werewolf?"

"Define werewolf."

"Can you fully transform into a wolf? Do you have to turn when there is a full moon? If you bite me, do I become like you?"

"No to all three."

"Oh, what can you do?"

"I can woge, which is why I didn't look human back at my cousin's house; I can run really fast, smell things like a wolf can, and some other cool stuff."

"Do you have an Alpha or something?"

"Yeah, you kind of met him. He was the one standing in the corner. He is my cousin, Peter."

"Who was the person holding you while you were unconscious?"

"That's my other cousin Shawn; we are the Betas of our pack."

"Is all of your family like this?"

"Yes, both my mom and dad's sides are Blutbaden."

"What does that word mean?"

"It's German; it translates to bad blood."

"Oh."

"Yeah, do you have any more questions?"

"None that I can think of."

Finally! "Good, I'll take you home."

We got in the car, and I started driving towards his house. "What happened tonight?" he asked. I sighed.

"Honestly, I'm not sure. I smelled this stranger in our territory, so I hunted him. When I found him, I attacked, and that's the last thing I remember before I woke up in Shawn's arms. What did you see?"

"I saw you stumbling around covered in blood, so I called your parents. Five minutes later, those two guys scooped you up and told me to get in the car."

"Huh, well, that guy is probably still out there, so I would watch your back if I were you."

"Will you kill him if you find him?"

"Probably." I shrugged.

"Why haven't you killed anyone else in town?"

"There are two reasons: 1. None of you are strangers, and 2. None of you are Wesen."

"Oh, so you guys are the only ones?"

"In this city, yes. In the world, no."

We pulled up to his house, and I unlocked the car door. "Ok, get out and never tell anyone about any of this or I will hunt you down and shred you to pieces. Got it?" He nodded vigorously. I chuckled. "Good, have a nice night and don't think about all this too much. My family will handle mister dangerous, and you should never have to deal with this whole other world ever again." He nodded again, turned around, and walked into his house.

I rolled my eyes. 'I will never understand humans.' I thought as I drove home.
