26 Cat Burglar

"What the hell are you doing?" Goldy asked after I wore all black clothes instead of my usual ones.

"Can't you see? I'm doing a burglar cosplay." I replied as I wore a black mask as well. I didn't wanna screw it up and end up exposing my identity to the masses of the Raging Thunder sect.

"You look ridiculous." Goldy spoke as he stared at my costume. However, I was fine with it being as weird as possible, as long as it does its duty.

"I don't care. Shall we go?" I asked. Goldy nodded and took the lead. I jumped out my window as well. I did check if anyone actually noticed me jumping out. Since no one did, I followed Goldy closely.

My prediction of reaching the Raging Thunder sect was within one hour and it was damn accurate… Well, if you wanna nitpick, we reached even earlier than expected… in twenty-four minutes, which honestly surprised me. But, since it was Goldy who set the pace and not me, it made sense. I was proud of myself for keeping pace with the Gold dragon without getting exhausted. Although if it was his actual speed, I would have died of it.

Anyway, initially we kept our distance from the sect's main base. Goldy was against this; he wanted to go straight in with all guns blazing. However, I wanted to study the terrain and escape routes and stuff.

That's when I noticed that the security of the main base was lax; like real lazy! The people in the security didn't even care. I understand why they act like this though. There's nothing much valuable in their lockers, and they are not a major sect. They didn't expect someone to come in and steal their stuff. This sort of behavior is exactly why the Raging Thunder was technically the best training grounds to test my skills.

From the distance, I concealed myself in the dark and accelerated towards the base. Upon reaching near the base, I started moving stealthily. Meanwhile, Goldy still went through the front door and the noise of him opening the door was brought into the guard's attention. I guess he deliberately did it so that I have a hard time breaking in. But, it did the opposite effect. The noise acted as a distraction, which allowed me to easily break in. Maybe… that was the desired effect he was hoping for in the first place.

The situation inside was even more pathetic. Goldy intentionally messed up my rhythm by routinely throwing stuff towards multiple directions, which should've caught the inner guards' attention. However, they keep blaming it on some cat, not even making a single effort to get their bottoms off their seats. This should've made me happy, but I was genuinely pissed off more than anything. Like, work for the pay you're given, dude! Those guys reminded me of some colleagues in my part-time work, who refused to work, even though they got their pay. Then I had to do everything. This hatred I had for them made me wanna beat up these idiots as well, however, if I am to do that, they might catch a glimpse of me. If I stay patient and just robbed them off, they'd be embarrassed before their employer because they couldn't even catch a glimpse of the one who robbed them, and they'll be punished. Ah, I guess that'd make me happy!

Anyway, them being extremely lazy helped me to leaps and bounds. Before, I felt immense pressure when I thought of doing this. However, this really helped me. So, rather than moving in stealth or something, I joined Goldy in on the fun of throwing things everywhere. And even though they heard double the noises from the corridors, not a single person came in to face us. Dude, how can you blame everything on the cat?

So, after the peaceful stroll, we reached their lockers, and we didn't even hold it back when I used a great amount of force to just bulldoze the door open. At this point, it was not about being stealthy, it was about how long I should mess things up so that the base's security actually ends up finding us. Like, really! I wanted them to find the both of us. Unfortunately those guys never showed their heads.

Finding the sacred pills was the most difficult thing we had to do throughout this expedition. It was not seen at all when we searched up the entire place. Then, we found out that there's actually another door to this locker, so we blasted it off as well and lo and behold, there was the sacred pills in all its glory, inside a container with light directly shone into it as if it's declaring that it is the most important stuff here and to rob it.

This unusual light was suspicious. At first, I thought of it as the laser beam kind of thing that identifies an intruder or something. However, it didn't actually do anything once Goldy made me put my hand through it when I was thinking about the traps they might have set.

And with that, it was confirmed that it wasn't any sort of alarm system. However, I was still a bit doubtful. I was so sure for it to have some sort of alarm system even if the entire security personnel were dunces. After all, it was the most valuable thing that they had!

That's when I remembered that one scene from a famous movie where the main actor had to substitute the treasure with something with similar weight almost instantly for the entire place to not get destroyed. I thought maybe that was the case, so I tried to assume the weight of the container with the pills. Then, I asked Goldy to place his hand on it because I also suspected it to have a landmine-like mechanism. I knew I was thinking too far, but now that I reached till here without people noticing, I wanted to pull it off just like that. After leaving Goldy with it, I headed back to the first locker, I found a container which had the refined Qi pills. I took out some pills and consumed it to make it the estimated weight of the other container.

By the time I headed in the second locker with the container, I saw Goldy holding the container in his hand. It was no longer in the pedestal that it previously was. I didn't want to believe it previously, but now it is clear. These guys didn't give a shite about what happens to their valuables. Like, they totally don't care. I would like to know what made them into these extremely carefree people.

Anyway, now that the sacred pills were in our custody, we were ready to go back. However, to make it seem as if we came in here for the money, and we randomly ended up getting the sacred pills, we actually took the entirety of their gold. I didn't take the ornaments and stuff because someone might recognize it. Gold coins were fair game because unlike back in Earth, where the notes had serial numbers and stuff, the coins didn't have those, which made sense because they're coins! However, they could carve it in if they wanted though…

In the end, with the gold and the pills in our hand, we triumphantly walked out through the front gate of the Raging Thunder sect. When they broke into the sect base, there was security at the front gates. However, when we came back, it seemed as if they took a break as well. I don't know if we had crazy luck or if they were total idiots or both, the robbery was a complete success.

After returning home and properly hiding the stuff we stole, I had a good night's sleep. I thought I would've felt guilty about stealing and stuff, but honestly, it didn't feel like a robbery at all. It was as if I walked into one of my friend's rooms and took their stuff, because after all their stuff is supposed to be mine while mine is already mine, right? Anyway, I didn't have that guilty feeling and that was one of the best sleeps that I had, since I could practice cultivation from now on and that genuinely excited me.

Next morning, I heard my family talking about someone robbing the Raging Thunder sect clean. The person had been named Cat Burglar, however they say that his actions weren't that nimble footed. Rumors circulated that the dude actually destroyed entire doors of the sect and terrorized the security of the sect and injured many. And they also revealed that the beggar sect who upholds justice has taken it upon themselves to find this Cat Burglar and bring him before justice. They have pasted posters of the Cat Burglar's face according to the info that the security gave and are frantically searching for such a person.

Interested in this rumor, I walked out of my home to look at one of these posters. It showed a big burly looking man with a ferocious face and curly hair. I felt sad for whoever looked like the person in the posters. Because their face would be the one responsible for the things that I was gonna do to the cultivation world.
