6 [6] Thoughts

"It hurts... my poor body"

Izumo groaned and squinted his eyes at the blaring sunlight shining through his room's window as he lay down in his comfy bed, feeling sore all over his body.

It was just yesterday when he had finished the match and only after he woke up today did his body start aching in pain.

"I really need to start working out"

Izumo muttered, forcing himself to stand up despite the soreness and aching pain all over his body.

The moment he stood up, he instinctively stretched his whole body and oh boy was it a big mistake.

"AUGH!"

Izumo shouted as intense pain surged out of every part of his body, bringing him down to his knees.

"I regret everything!"

Izumo covered his face with his hand, hiding his teary eyes as his life flashed right before him just now.

It was then that the door of his room opened abruptly and a woman stepped inside hurriedly.

"Izumo! What's wrong?"

Izumo glanced up and saw that it was his mother who came in with a worried expression on her face.

She must have heard his cry and hurriedly went looking for him, concerned for his well-being.

"It's n-nothing"

Izumo answered, trying his best to hold back the pain, and stood up, acting like his whole body wasn't aching in pain at all.

"Don't try to hide anything from me, young man"

"..."

"Tell me, what's wrong?"

Izumo sighed and felt helpless at the stern gaze of his mother.

In the end, he relented and told her about the soccer match yesterday as well as the fact that his whole body was screaming in pain from the soreness.

"I see..."

His mother nodded, having understood the situation as the worried expression she had disappeared.

"I thought it was something serious..."

His mother sighed in relief as she walked toward Izumo and suddenly slapped his back mercilessly.

"Keuk!"

Izumo cried out in pain, feeling like he was hit by a big ass hammer on his back, and fell back down on his knees again.

"M-Mom!?"

"Stop being such a baby"

Izumo stared dumbfoundedly at his mother and had never seen such a ruthless woman before in his entire life.

"I'm your child for Chris's sake. Be gentle!"

His mother just rolled her eyes at Izumo and turned around, walking out of the room but not before taking a final glance at him and leaving a message.

"Don't forget to clean your room, Izumo"

After that, she closed the door and left Izumo alone to his devices.

'What kind of mother are you?!"

Izumo internally complained and massaged his forehead, easing the migraine that arose from his head.

After a few seconds, he calmed down as he slowly stood up and gently sat down on his bed.

"Status"

"Oh? Both my stamina and agility improved a bit"

Izumo stared at the virtual panel and brushed his chin, feeling quite happy at the improvement in his stats.

It must have been due to yesterday's match since Izumo had to exert himself thereby forcing both his stamina and agility to progress even by just a tiny bit.

"This is progress"

Izumo remarked and nodded at himself before he swiped off the panel, making it vanish.

"System"

[Ding!]

[The Talent System]

[Points: 0.5]

[Bronze Chest = 10 Points]

[Silver Chest = 100 Points]

[Gold Chest = 1,000 Points]

[Platinum Chest = 10,000 Points]

"Ugh..."

Izumo couldn't help but cringe at the pitiful amount of points he had.

Still, at the very least Izumo now knew how to obtain points and it was through scoring a goal.

'Very fitting of this world'

Izumo internally commented, thinking how this system as well as Ego would get along very well.

However, he was still worried about the minuscule amount of points he could earn.

After all, just a single goal earned him 0.5 points and most of the chests' prices were too pricey for his current bank, especially the platinum chest.

That one was just too much, he didn't think he could ever buy it in his lifetime if the points he earn keeps this way.

"System, please tell me there's a way to increase the amount of points I could obtain"

[...]

"I figured as much... why do I even bother"

Izumo rolled his eyes and swiped off the virtual panel in front of him as it vanished shortly.

He could only hope in the future that the points he earned per goal wouldn't be constant.

"Hmm..."

Izumo hummed, feeling bored as he gazed upon his not-so-messy room.

Letting out a sigh, he stood up and carefully picked up the clothes sprawled all over the room, afraid that his mother would scold him for not doing his chores.

'I made a lot of unnecessary movements back then'

While Izumo was cleaning his room, he decided to review the match yesterday to pass the time as well as point out the things he could have done better.

'I shouldn't have been so selfish and pass instead. It would have saved a lot of my stamina'

Izumo thought and felt like he could have at least scored another goal if he had enough stamina left.

On the other, he didn't like the feeling of trusting the ball to an unskilled player since there was a chance that it was going to be stolen and used to counterattack.

However, he still recognized the importance of team play, especially after the successful cooperation he had with Haruto against Aiku.

'Was it even teamwork though?'

After thinking about it, Izumo didn't really think that was considered teamwork since he merely used Haruto as bait or a distraction for Aiku to split his attention off him.

Thereby, giving him a wider option to move or make plays.

In the first place, he never believed that Haruto would win or even steal the ball off Aiku which as he thought about it, he felt kinda bad now.

'I should treat Haruto to some lunch'

Izumo thought and made a mental note the next time he met Haruto.

And as he kept reviewing the match inside his mind, he started to see some signs of resemblances to a certain someone's playstyle.

'The way I used Haruto as well as the opponents is somewhat similar to Rin's puppeteer playstyle...'

Though a bit off considering Izumo uses his teammates or opponents as pawns while Rin manipulates them to his liking.

'Still... I could definitely get some inspiration from his style'

Izumo thought and smiled, feeling like he had finally found a direction to go with.

'But I want more...'

Izumo felt greedy and didn't want to limit his playstyle, he wanted to change it up and add something else.

'How about mixing in Ryusei's aggressive playstyle?'
