Anger Issues

Yu Mingling screamed and smashed a porcelain vase onto the floor. The piercing noise of the ceramic shattering echoed through the entire Gou residence, but it did not stop there.

She grabbed everything in sight and threw them all onto the ground, which made her laboured breathing worse. She gritted her teeth and snapped a chair in half with her fists.

Her two attendants stood in front of her with their heads lowered, flinching slightly each time she smashed an object.

Although it may have looked like she was physically strong, Yu Yang made sure all the chairs in her room were cheap, low quality, and mass-produced, so they would be easier to replace.

"How dare he!" she growled and picked up a plate before slamming it on the ground.

"Wu Zhitian... Who does he think he is?" She yelled and stomped on the glass. "How dare he break the contract?! How dare he. How dare he. How dare he!"

The two men stayed silent since there was nothing they could do but watch.

If they had said something that irritated her, their heads might have been the next thing she was stomping on.

"After all these years, he suddenly wants to break the contract?" Mingling scoffed and walked around her room.

"Why all of a sudden? Why? Why? Why?!"

She snatched the broken wood from her chair and threw it towards her two attendants, smashing it right before their feet.

"Even though I was so kind to him. I didn't harm the temple, I didn't harm the people, so why? Something must have happened!" The girl shouted and stomped on the broken pieces of wood. "Where is Liu Bu?!"

"Second Young Madam, Senior Liu Bu and his bodyguard have not come back yet."

"What? Not come back?"

"Yes, they went to visit the Feather Temple to collect the raw spirit stones but have yet to come back." The other added.

"What are you trying to say?" She scowled.

"The Feather Temple may have done something to them."

"Silence! Liu Bu and that bodyguard are not that weak!"

Just as the attendant was going to open their mouth, they heard a loud thud outside of Yu Mingling's bedchamber.

The two attendants stole glances at each other before walking out of her room and immediately flung back. One collapsed on their bottoms and one froze on the spot.

"What's wrong?" Mingling demanded, but the two stayed silent and she could only see their bodies tremble.

She clicked her tongue and walked towards them to see what they were so shocked about. Judging by their reactions, Mingling jokingly thought that a dead body had just been delivered to her room.

However, upon seeing what it was, her eyes widened in surprise before narrowing them in rage.

It was Liu Bu's dead body.

"What is this?!"

One attendant reached out to feel Liu Bu's pulse, only to receive no response of his heart beating.

"He's dead."

Veins protruded from her temples and fists. Mingling wanted to scream from the top of her lungs, but she attempted to hold it in for the sake of the living humans in the residence.

The two attendants leaned in closer to analyze the condition of the body and said, "We can still conduct a memory projection through the Whale's Orb since his spiritual core is still warm."

"Then go do it!" She snapped.

Just when Yu Mingling was about to storm back into her room, a woman walked past and stood in front of the commotion.

"What is going on, sister?"

Yu Mingling's bloodshot eyes wavered in recognition of the graceful woman.

"Greetings, First Young Madam," the two bowed immediately.

"Jia, Jiaying!" Yu Mingling stuttered and instantly bowed with the other two. "G-Greetings elder sister."

In HaiShen Yu, people would describe these two sisters as opposites. If Yu Mingling was a shark, then Yu Jiaying would be a fairy, or maybe even a goddess.

But despite these contrasting comparisons, Yu Mingling had always respected her older sister and ignored the names people called her.

"What is this body doing here?" Yu Jiaying asked and stared at the body on the ground, yet Yu Mingling stayed silent in fear of speaking.

Yu Jiaying sighed and smiled. "Did your contract with ShenMing Wu not go well?"

Yu Mingling flinched and gritted her teeth. She didn't know why, but Yu Jiaying had always seemed to see through the truth of every situation and decipher everything that people desperately attempted to hide.

She would sometimes get annoyed at this perceptive skill of her dear elder sister's, as it reminded her of Yu Xuelan's sneaky eyes. Those eyes. Those eyes that she desperately wanted to dig out from pure hatred. Those eyes always looked down on her like she was nothing but a skinless rat.

"The people of the Feather Temple have killed Liu Bu and Cheng Xiang. I was just going to bring him to the Deep Sea Room to conduct memory projection in the Whale's Orb," Yu Mingling informed, keeping her head lowered.

"Liu Bu?" Yu Jiaying mumbled and glanced at the body once more before narrowing her brows. "If I remember correctly, Liu Bu was a high ranked officer who completed his late-stage core formation during his adolescent years."

Yu Jiaying rubbed her chin, "For them to kill my dear sister's confidant, they're basically making an enemy out of us."

"Elder sister should not need to worry as this was my fault for not overseeing this outcome."

"You were going to bring him to the Deep Sea Room for memory projection?" Jiaying asked.

"Yes, I deeply apologize for disturbing elder sister."

Yu Jiaying pondered and stared at the body in deep silence before speaking, "Why don't we go now? I am also curious about how such a high-skilled confidant was killed so easily."

Mingling glanced left and right while sweat slowly dripped down her temples, "As you wish, sister."

She turned to her two attendants, "What are you doing?! Hurry and carry the body!"

...

The Deep Sea Room. If one was to walk into this room, it would feel as if they had submerged themselves deep under the ocean. So deep that only darkness and murmurs of the waves could be seen and heard.

A white orb that resembled a pearl lied on a tall altar in the middle of the room. It was known as the Whale's Orb and was a spiritual tool that was granted by the Heavenly Spirit of the waters.

The two attendants dragged the body and rested it in front of the orb. They drew the memory projection array around Liu Bu's body. Soon, a bright light beamed from his body and into the large pearl.

Figures began forming in the pearl from Liu Bu's perspective. It was replaying his memory just a few moments before his death since that was all they could get and Yu Mingling and Yu Jiaying watched carefully.

Yu Mingling covered her mouth with her palm as her face blushed red when she saw Wu Zhitian in the pearl.

Besides Yu Mingling, who was fantasizing over the white-haired boy, Yu Jiaying focused her eyes on the black-robed girl and observed attentively.

"Who is that girl in black robes?" Yu Jiaying asked. "She's not in ShenMing Wu's robes."

"Huh!? Woman?!" Yu Mingling's eyes narrowed and instantly looked back into the orb where she saw the girl being clutched under Liu Bu's arms.

After watching everything until Liu Bu collapsing, the light of the pearl dimmed back down, filling the room with deafening darkness once again.

Though the rage from Mingling seemed to emit similar rays of the sun which lit up the room in a rather menacing atmosphere. Veins began popping out Yu Mingling's forehead and hand.

"Look at how that snake is staring at Wu Zhitian! Who does she think she is?" She stomped on the ground as she spat out curses.

"Mingling, watch your language," Yu Jiaying warned and Yu Mingling instantly shut her mouth yet still biting her lip in rage.

"Why does he always go off fooling around with other people?"

"Instead of focusing on Sect Master Wu, why don't you think about what happened to your precious confidant?" Yu Jiaying smiled, which caused a shiver to travel up the girl's spine.

"I apologize for my behaviour, elder sister," she replied. "But that black-robed snob, I mean girl, said he died of a heart attack, and Liu Bu was diagnosed with heart issues before, so it explains why he had a seizure."

Yu Mingling's mind was filled with the scene of Wu Zhitian and the girl so she could not care less about what happened to Liu Bu and his bodyguard.

"But I can't believe Zhitian smiled!" Yu Mingling muttered.

Yu Jiaying was in deep thought before speaking, "Something was off."

"Off?" Yu Mingling repeated, "Of course it's off! Why would Wu Zhitian smile at that skank?"

"No. Can you please do the memory projection once again?" Yu Jiaying smiled and asked the two attendants.

"Yes Madam," they replied and redrew the array which summoned the projection into the orb once again.

As they were re-watching Liu Bu's memories, Yu Jiaying furrowed her brows and tried to look more closely at every single detail.

"What's wrong elder sister?" Yu Mingling asked.

"That girl."

"Yeah, she's so ugly. Horrible. Disgusting. Unworthy."

Yu Mingling continued spouting insults, but the more she said, the more she actually began feeling guilty.

"No, no, no." Jiaying's voice trailed off in denial, or rather, shock. "It can't be. I must be wrong."

"Elder sister, what is wrong?" Yu Mingling continued asking, slightly feeling frustrated that her sister kept leaving her hanging.

After the projection finished, the two attendants stood back up, looking extremely exhausted, since performing this array consumed an immense amount of spiritual energy.

"Consuming blood."

"Consuming blood?"

"It is possible that the heart attack did not happen naturally," Jiaying stated.

"Then did one of the cultivators just kill him? Maybe they punctured his meridians somehow. but no one moved beside the struggling hostage," Yu Mingling responded.

Yu Jiaying stayed silent in deep thought as she tried to put all the pieces together.
