A Canadian geologist returns to Africa after ten years to resume prospecting for deposits of coltan, an essential mineral for the manufacture of cell phones and other uses in electronics, whose consumption is increasing exponentially in the world. Chapter 22

When Hans Jungmann arrived at Popovic's camp he immediately noticed that something was wrong. The remains of a store were still smoking and the men and vehicles had left; in a far corner an old man was sobbing without having noticed it yet. The German turned off the car's engine and approached the lone occupant of the camp.

“Who are you?

"The chief's personal servant," he replied with a certain pride.

“Where's Branko Popovic?

The old man pointed a finger at the smoking remains, causing Jungmann to doubt the old man's sanity.

"Can you explain yourself?" He asked with the patience he had acquired in dealing with Africans.

The man narrated with sighs the horrible recent history and the German understood the reason for his state of mind.

“You say they left for the new mine? The one who guides them is a certain Vadim? Can you give me an idea of the way forward?
