1 Chapter 01

There was an incessant beeping sound in Teddy's ear. He opened his eyes to a peaceful scenery of the sunrise. He looked around the room to see a white room with a fireplace at the wall opposite the bed he lay on. He sat up to get a clearer look of the room. It looked very sophisticated and high classed with ceramic dolls on cabinets propped up on the wall. There was a wardrobe with white doors on which one had a mirror where he could see his reflection. He looked at his face deeply, how his dark hair was packed into a bun, to reveal his chiseled face and blue eyes to which a pointed nose sat in the middle. He scooted his way to the floor where he stood on the warm bear fur rug with the bear head facing the fireplace. He walked to the mirror to get a closer look at himself. He assessed his entire six-foot four frame inside the white tank top and white cargo pants he wore. He still looked around the room a bit puzzled trying to understand where exactly he was and how he got there.

"Someone's up." A familiar voice came from the door leading to the balcony. Teddy turned around to look at his wife's face; Julia. She stood ever so slenderly, with an arm on the door trying to be as cute as possible. She wore a white transparent nightie to which her pointy nipples where visible. Her jet black hair complimented her grey eyes which stared back at Teddys gaze running from her pink lips to her chest area to her legs. Every time he saw her was a breath of fresh air.

"What happened?" Teddy asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"Papa bear doesn't remember anything from last night?" Julia said in her bedroom voice as she walked like a fox to her husband and hung her arms on his shoulders placing her breasts on his broad chest. Teddy responded by wrapping his manly arms around her ever so tenderly, reaching in for a kiss; one which she gave him.

"Well I did say I was gonna f*ck your brains out, I just didn't think it would be literal." She said as she giggled. Teddy was still trying to grasp what exactly had happened but from the looks of it, it seemed they had sex.

"Well, you passed out last night after a few shots at the hotel bar and a fun filled night of unfiltered passion." Julia said it in a way that sounded like those telenovela commercials which made Teddy laugh.

"I think I remember now." He said as he picked her up and dropped her on the bed and gave her another kiss.

"Slow down cowboy, I'm expecting a package and I want to be strong enough to get it." In that instant there was a knock on the door.

"Room service!" the female voice announced.

"Come in!" Julia beckoned and in came a blonde hostess wheeling a covered aluminum plate and beside it was a bucket filled with ice and champagne.

"Good morning guys, I hope you enjoyed your night?" The hostess said with a smile as she opened the aluminum plate to reveal a white cake which had 'Happy anniversary' on it. It was at that moment it all clicked for Teddy. He had taken his wife to the hotel they first met for their anniversary celebration in which he got wasted and woke up in the room he is currently in.

"This looks amazing." He said to his wife as she walked to her coat on the floor and pulled out a hundred-dollar bill and gave it to the hostess who walked away with a wide grin. She then almost immediately dived on Teddy and they both kissed again.

"So, how are we going to spend our Saturday?" she asked him.

"Well I was thinking we go for a swim in the pool and maybe play some tennis…" He was stating as he slowly heard another beeping sound which felt like it was coming from the wardrobe.

"Babe?"

"Babe?"

"TEDDY!?" she yelled trying to call him back to reality.

"What happened there, you seemed to phase out a bit?" she asked with a look of concern.

"I…I don't know, did you hear that?" he asked.

"You probably need to take your meds again." She said as she stood up to open the mini fridge and pull out orange drug containers. She then got him a bottle of water and popped the pills in his palm.

"What are these?" He asked looking at the white and red pill in his hand.

"Urg… you know, no one would know that under all this hunk of a man is just a kid." She said with a laugh.

"It's your focus pills." She explained. Teddy looked at her, he had never heard of any focus pills before but since he knew his wife could never lie to him, he took them and indeed they did actually make him feel better. She kissed him and then pulled him to the shower with him so they could bathe and go downstairs to have some fun.

They made their way to the court area both sporting tennis outfits. They played a few rounds of tennis together, a sport that Julia was better at than Teddy but she let him win a couple sets. After, they picked up their towels and headed toward the pool where they both dunked their already hot heads in the water a bit. Julia then sat on the curb to watch Teddy swim a few laps before he joined her.

"How are you enjoying the day so far?" She asked her husband.

"Feels almost too good to be true." He said as he stared deep into her eyes. In the distance, a family was playing catch in the pool with a beachball. A boy in the family overshot the ball and it hit Teddy in the back of the head which made Julia laugh.

"Hey mister, real sorry bout the nudge, could you please pass the ball." The boy said with an Australian accent. He had the typical surfer look, tanned, with blonde hair and a crocodile tooth necklace. Teddy reached for the ball but stopped as he touched it. He was hearing the beeping sound again but this time it was a bit louder. Julia touched him to bring him back to reality again.

"You really need to stop phasing out on me." She said as she cupped his face.

"I… I don't know, I just keep hearing this sound in my head." He tried to explain but was cut short by a splash of water to the face. Julia was the culprit trying to play a little game with him.

"You probably just need to take your pills again." She said as she tossed the ball back to the boy.

"Common, lets go to the room so you can eat something and you'll take your drug ok?" She pets him. They both bid the other people in the pool goodbye and made their way to their room.

The atmosphere was romantic with mint scented candles on their table. The chef before the couple prepared a cuisine to the delight of everyone around. As he finished making the dish, he took a bow and said…

"Happy Anniversary." In his hazy French accent. The people at the other table clapped as the chef made his way back to the kitchen, leaving the couple to enjoy the food.

"Can't remember the last time I had this type of luxury." Teddy stated as he tucked his table cloth into his wine-colored tux.

"Indeed, we should do this more often you know, not just once a year." Julia remarked with a giggle as she slipped a piece of shrimp into her mouth. Teddy looked at his wife's face as the sunset in the background.

"You know, there are days I pinch myself to wonder if it's a dream that I have you in my life." He said.

"Aww, c'mon, well, we both know if I hadn't made the first move at the bar, we wouldn't be having this conversation." She said to which they both giggled.

"It baffles me how a man of uniform like yourself would be so skilled in battling other men but would succumb to a woman like me." She asked as she took a sip of wine.

"Well, emphasis on 'woman like you'". He said with a smile.

"I've been thinking…" Teddy began.

"Thinking? Ha, I thought I smelt smoke, thought it was the food." Julia humored her husband.

"Ha-ha, very funny." He replied.

"I was thinking, maybe its time to move into a bigger place." He suggested.

"What's wrong with our old place?" Julia looked puzzled.

"Well, our current place won't be able to take more than three people." He said with a smirk.

"Three people? Is your brother coming to live with us?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. Teddy then looked at her belly and then back at her face.

"Oh, you mean…" She said with wide eyes to which Teddy nodded.

"Are you sure?" She tried to reaffirm.

"Well, I saw how you looked at the babies at the lobby, I feel its time we became parents." Teddy said. Julia just sat there with a wide smile as her husband kissed the back of her hand.

"Why wait, lets go make some babies." She said as she got up and pulled him with her. He tried to pull the cloth off his neck and take one last sip of red wine before following her to their room. She had already started kissing him on the elevator which made him carry her and they made their way to their room. He slid the keycard in the door and slammed her back against the door to shut it. She kicked her shoes off and he did the same. She untucked his shirt from his pants and pulled it off of him as she sat on him. He then ripped open her dress to reveal the black bra which was the top piece of her lingerie. He then kissed her deeply and slipped her to the side and was on top of her. As he was about to take her gown off of her, he heard the beeping sound even louder this time in his head almost deafening him and giving him a migraine. He put his hands on his head and let out a yell which scared Julia.

"Babe?" She tried holding him. Teddy just fell to the floor and moved frantically around the room, pushing things of the table and ceramic dolls off the cabinets as Julia tried getting him to be stable but nothing seemed to work. Teddy then stood and stared at the mirror on the wardrobe.

"Babe don't… Teddy?!" Julia said as she grabbed him by the head again and covered his ears. He then closed his eyes and looked at hers trying to calm himself which seemed to work as the beeping stopped and then he smiled at her to which she smiled back and kissed him, both of them breathing heavy. There was a brief silence and the room was quiet with only the breeze from the window making some noise.

"I'm sorry." Teddy whispered which confused Julia. In an instant, he ran head first into the mirror.

He felt glass under his face and a feeling of wetness. There was a loud beeping sound above him just like the one he had heard before. Teddy opened his eyes to a blurry scene, he was in a hall filled with broken tubes, in one end of the hall was a large door which had the only working light in the entire the hall which was only being lit by the luminance from a crack in the roof from the outside. He stood up to look around, the place was cold and looked abandoned. The floor was covered in some blue transparent liquid, the one which he seemed to also be covered in. Come to think of it, he noticed he wasn't wearing the tux shirt he had on a few minutes ago. Now he was wearing a johnnie gown which was white in color. He looked behind him and discovered he had broken out of a giant tube-like pod with an organic-looking tether on the floor. He then reached for the nape of his neck and felt a device there which felt like an outlet, probably where the tether was connected to. He tried moving forward but his legs gave way due to weakness and lack of use. He then tried propping himself up on some of the tubes as he walked toward the door using them as support. As he made his way to the door, he saw his reflection on a broken pod glass. He looked so lean that the johnnie gown looked big on him. His face was very pale, showing so much cheek bone and he was actually bald, so much so that the veins in his head were very visible. He was disgusted by what he saw but still continued going toward the door. At some point his vision was blurry again as he got closer to the large door, he then fell to his knees and looked straight ahead, reaching out to the door. In that moment, the door lights turned green and it opened, revealing lights which looked like they came from torches. Teddy cold only hear faint voices and footsteps as they got closer only to drift off into a coma.
