Betrayed

Chapter 1

It was a beautiful night during winter, and everywhere was as cold as ice.

Nola's heart was filled with excitement as she sat in front of the mirror and stared at her reflection, knowing she was finally going to be taken tonight. To her, there was no other joy than being with her mate and living the rest of their lives together as one. Being an only child that lost her Alpha and Luna parents, the twenty-two years old Nola has been left all alone to take care of herself, although her parents left her with a fortune to live the rest of her life on.

Before the death of her parents who were the Alpha and Luna of Dynamite Pack, her Father, Alpha Everett, who was the wealthiest Alpha of all werewolf realms, willed all of his properties to his beloved daughter before he breathed his last, and Nola has since been the one in charge of everything, but recently, she gave everything to her boyfriend who was now her legal mate. To her, there was no reason to keep the properties to herself, since she was going to be together for the rest of her life with her now mate, Miguel.

Miguel was just an ordinary werewolf in the Pack, who was raised to standard by Nola because she was madly in love with him and would do anything for the man that has captured her heart for years now, but can the same thing be said about Miguel? On their mating ceremony which was just hours ago before now, Miguel has been made the new Alpha of Dynamite Pack, since he was already Nola's legal mate. She was supposed to be the Alpha next in line, but being a woman would make it impossible, so the throne was diverted to Miguel.

She sighed briefly before she tucked her lengthy black hair behind her ear, glancing at the wall clock.

"Why is he not here yet?" She mumbled, worried why Miguel had not returned from the balcony where he went to receive a call earlier. Curious and worried why he was still not back even after about twenty minutes of being on the balcony, knowing that it was winter season and out there would be cold, she finally left the room to go check on him. However, the faint deep voice outside made her stop to listen to Miguel talking to someone on the phone.

"You should give me some time. I can't just dispose her like that," She heard him whisper to someone on the phone, and she raised her thick eyebrows in confusion, wondering who he was talking to.

"Come on, babe, why are you talking like that? How could you doubt my love for you? You are the reason I've been working so hard to get all these, and our dream has finally come true," Her heart sank into her stomach the moment she heard him say that, but she was still so foolish that she convinced herself that it wasn't what she was thinking.

"She? I'm the Alpha of the Pack now, and you know whatever I say stands, and nobody can go against me. It's going to be pretty easy to get rid of her now," Slowly, she clenched her fingers tightly as she gulped down the lump that formed in her throat. Her heart hammered against her chest, she felt her throat burning down to her stomach, and her breath was becoming difficult.

"Mig...uel?" She finally called him, and he turned sharply to face her, his thick eyebrows were raised in shock as his pair of brown eyes pierced into hers.

"Nola? You are here?" He tried not to stutter tossing the phone inside his pocket and smiling at her as if nothing happened.

"Wh...what was that?" She asked in a very low tone that she could barely hear herself speak.

"What do you mean what was that? What was what?" He asked, his face laced with confusion as if he didn't know what she was talking about.

"You...you were talking to someone on the phone... Who was that? Who did you say you were going to get rid of?" She asked once again as she slowly clenched her fingers tightly beside her, while staring at him.

"What do you mean, babe?" He scoffed as he shrugged, staring at her as if she was stupid.

"Don't you dare lie to me, Miguel! And don't you dare call me babe, because it's driving me crazy hearing you call someone else that just now," She slowly shook her head, taking a step back and biting her lip nervously.

"Who the hell was that? Are you cheating on me? Are you planning to get rid of me? What was that?" She further yelled at the top of her voice when he didn't say anything. Her eyes were blazing with anger, her fingers were clenched tightly as she felt her blood boiling in rage.

"And who the hell are you to talk to me in that manner?" He scoffed tilting his head sideways before taking his gaze to her, his eyes boring into hers.

"Who am I? I am your mate..."

"And I am the Alpha! You dare not talk to me in that manner, Nola! I deserve some respect from you!" He snapped at her, and she flinched, creasing her eyebrows.

"Miguel..." She whispered and huffed, not knowing what to say, her mouth was left hanging open.

"Yes... I want to get rid of you... I have another woman in my life, and you know what? She is the one I love!" Her heart sank into her stomach and she staggered back as those words hit her like a thunderstorm.

"Wh...what did you...say?" Her voice quivered as she whispered. Her body was already trembling, her legs were getting weaker to carry her, but still, she managed to stand on them.

"Who would want to be with a dumb woman like yourself? No man on earth would want to be with someone that is so dumb with no iota of smartness in her," He scoffed, slowly shaking his head, and she felt a sting in her heart.

"You said you loved me... You said..."

"And the mistake you made was believing those words. All I wanted was your fortune and the throne..." He paused and smirked, tucking his hands in his pockets and staring at her.

"Ho...how could you?" The tears she has been fighting back finally found their way down her cheeks.

"How could you have done that to me?" She roared as more tears streamed down her cheeks. Her heart felt stomped on, her blood was boiling in rage, not toward this despicable man that was standing in front of her, but toward herself for being such a pathetic fool all this while. Thinking of how foolish she has been all this while hurts her heart and she felt like breaking down. Her wolf whimpered in pain, weak to even fight for her.

"I can't be with someone like you, Nola... I am the Alpha now, and I need a potential mate by my side..."

"I made you who you are now... You were nothing but a piece of shit... All the luxurious life you are living today is all because of me. It's because of me you became the Alpha, and now you think I'm not fit to be your mate?" She roared, and he scoffed.

"Do you think I'm being unfair? Well, life itself is unfair. You would do the same if you are in my shoes, right?" He asked as he grinned from ear to ear, and that was all she needed to send a hot slap across his cheek.

"How dare you! How dare you raise your hand on me!" He roared , grabbing her throat and slamming her hard against the wall, choking her.

"You are hurting me, Miguel! Let go of me!" Even her wolf abandoned her in this situation and she was left to fight for herself, but sadly, she couldn't fight him because he was stronger than her. She struggled to breathe and keep her eyes open, but she was soon overpowered, and couldn't fight back. Seeing the desperation in his eyes, she knew he wasn't doing this to threaten her, but he really meant to choke her to death.

Slowly, tears streamed down the corner of her cheek as her eyes slowly closed. She felt her soul leaving her body, her heartbeat slowing down until she couldn't feel it anymore. So, this is it? She was going to die by the hands of the man she loved with everything in her after being treated like a piece of shit? In her last moment, she wished she could be given a second chance to live. If only she was given another chance, she would learn from her mistake and make things right, if only she could turn back the hands of time, then she wouldn't have been so foolish all along, but it seemed like it was too late now.

Her heartbeat finally stopped, and that was the end of her as her head dropped, and he finally let go of her, sending her roughly to the ground. The corner of Miguel's lips twitched up into a smirk as he squatted beside her and touched her neck.

"Let's meet again in the afterlife. Maybe we can be together then if you become smart," He uttered and smirked before he stood up to his feet...
