Chapter 38: Red Sky

Leila exhales.

Placing the violin between her chin and shoulder, she watches as Ryu’s eyes light up with glee. He states with an echo as he throws a marble to the ground and vanishes into the portal, “Yes, play, small human, and watch as the world you once knew burns before your eyes. That is what I want.”

She ignores his words to the best of her ability and begins playing, thoughts running rampant through her mind as an intense tune crawls its way forth from the instrument. A black light flickers from the violin as she plays, one she is unaccustomed to. Her light is normally golden and white, pure in its essence, but this is different.

It contains an animosity to it, but she continues playing, closing her eyes, thinking with one last deep breath, “Destroy those who seek to harm myself and my allies.”
