Chapter 31: Spoiled Fun

Leila shivers wildly as she stands in the freezing pool, water up to her waist.

“W-w-what’s the point of this exercise again?”

Ezra replies simply, pulling her to him with wet hands. “Focus.”

She lets loose another shiver and counters, “It’s freezing. How am I supposed to focus? What do I even focus on?”

He places a hand under her chin and murmurs as he gazes into her eyes with those amethyst orbs, “Focus on what you felt when you summoned your powers with the violin. We want to manifest that without the instrument.”

Leila gives him a small nod of understanding and closes her eyes, hands cupped in front of her. She tries to focus on the energy and feelings she felt when playing the instrument.

A gentle tug gnaws at her mind, and she searches for the pull, warmth coming to her palms after two hours in the freezing water. Her eyes open, and she stares in wonder at the small orb glowing in her hands.
