Chapter 20: Linked

He places a hand to her bosom. “You should be able to feel me now.”

Her chest is warm, and she answers with a tilt of her head, “I definitely feel something. It’s like a mild pressure.”

Ezra nods once more. “It will be that way for now and change depending upon my mood.”

She squirms out of his hold, placing her hands on her hips as she asks, “So then what kind of mood are you in now?”

His red eyes appear to shimmer and flicker back and forth between the natural amethyst they usually are, but he remains silent, not giving her an answer. She places a hand to her chest and asks warily, “You’re still hungry?”

He exhales, checking the wound on her neck before stepping away. He goes to his desk and opens one of the drawers, pulling out another shirt. He tosses it to Leila and replies, “Change into that. You’ve got blood on your top.”

She gives him a small nod but asks shyly, “Where can I change?”
