Chapter 12: Study Time

Leila rolls out of bed.

It’s late afternoon, and she needs to get up. She gazes at her backpack stuffed with books and then trails her eyes to her violin. She most certainly isn’t going to get anywhere by staring at the objects.

Today she would study. She has to. She needs to pass her classes, and now that she is successfully behind, anxiety has settled in the pit of her stomach.

Leila showers and changes into some new clothes. Then, grabbing her backpack, she walks out the door bumping into Hayley. The blonde smiles excitedly.

“Oh perfect timing. I just got back from the store. Here,” she states as she hands over a small bottle of mace. Leila accepts the gift and replies, “Thanks for this. I’ll be sure to keep it on hand.”

Hayley holds up a matching bottle with a grin. “I figured after the other night, it was kinda necessary.”

Leila nods once and answers with a wave as she continues leaving the dorm, “Thanks again. I have to go study.”
