13 Chapter 13: The Mysterious and Benevolent Helper

Jin watched as the motorcycle descended gracefully, its sleek and aerodynamic shape featuring a narrow fuel tank and sharp angles. Bullet holes peppered its body, testimony to past battles fought and won.

"Jin, get on!" The female rider's voice was muffled by her full-face helmet, but urgency was evident in her tone.

The rider wore a full suit complete with added padding for protection, and was slightly bending her motorcycle as she beckoned Jin.

Although the black suit hugged the curves of the rider's body, accentuating her ample chest, there was an undeniable aura of intimidation emanating from her closed full-face helmet.

Jin was skeptical, his eyebrows furrowed as he glared at the unknown stranger shouting at him. The middle of the road was filled with abandoned cars under the glaring sun and scorching heat.

Gunfire continued to rain down on the location where Jin had taken cover and the entrance of the supermarket building.

Bullet shells littered the road, and the car that had been Jin's only protection was now riddled with holes.

"Jin! Lower your shotgun!" The woman shouted, her breathing heavy under the armor. The floral scent was barely noticeable amidst the scent of gasoline and gunpowder.

The blast of wind and the metallic sound of bullets hitting the car's plate door were enough to conceal their conversation amidst the machine gun firing.

Unfazed, Jin maintained his cold demeanor in the face of the stranger's persistence. "How do you know my name?" he asked.

"HAH?!" Jin's words were lost in the chaotic situation, and the woman couldn't hear him properly as she looked at him, asking him to repeat himself.

"I said, how do you know my name?" Jin gathered his remaining energy and shouted at her with full voice. Suddenly, Jin's pupils squinted as he leaned slightly away from the car door.

BAM!

A loud, piercing bullet shattered the ground, interrupting their conversation

"What…." The woman was clearly in shock upon seeing Jin's lightning-fast reactions, despite wearing a full-face helmet.

However, when she gazed into his unyielding and icy eyes, her disposition soured. She was now clear of the words he had just said, but what annoyed her was that they were in the midst of battle.

Shouldn't he just follow orders obediently and ask those usual questions later?

"Don't you recognize me? You're the one who's supposed to protect me!" she exclaimed.

As the woman dropped her motorcycle to the ground and took cover behind the cars across from Jin, she continued to pester him while bullets rained down on them.

Meanwhile, Jin's mind was racing with various thoughts, despite his calm and composed exterior.

"The hell? How can I see your face if you don't even have the intention to reveal it behind that full-face helmet?" Jin complained inwardly. But the woman's words began to ring in his head.

"Who is she? The one I'm supposed to protect? Is she referring to the apartment? But how is that possible?"

Although Jin was lost in thought, he kept his focus split between the area where the sniper had shot at him and the machine guns firing from the second floor in case they suddenly took another action.

Within a 500-kilometer radius of him, there was only one skyscraper building, with most of the others having just one or two floors.

The machine guns protruded from the windows of a two-story building, and three of them were currently shooting an the entrance of supermarket building while the rest continued to shoot at his cover car.

Instead of answering or delving further into his thoughts about the woman's identity, Jin tried to focus on the sparks and blinding flashes from the firing machine guns.

Based on his observations, he had a rough idea of their weapons. They were probably using an old HK21E, the cheapest and most overused machine gun available.

Their 7.6mm bullets were powerful enough to pierce through modern Chinese cars, which were more fragile than medieval shields against these monstrous bullets.

Luckily, Jin had chosen one of the most durable cars against these bullets. Although not as durable as a tank, it could still give him some time to take cover and make a plan.

"They have been firing for over two minutes non-stop," Jin muttered and lowered his head before crouching down.

His right shoulder was bleeding profusely, the bullets having drilled through his flesh leaving holes the size of a human palm.

"Ah shit," Jin cursed as he ripped apart a part of his pants and used the fabric to close the hole, pressing it against the wound in an attempt to staunch the bleeding.

Upon closer inspection, he noticed many red threads slowly connecting the flesh between the holes; his passive healing ability had kicked in.

However, given the severity of the wounds, it would take several minutes to fully heal.

As his hand weakened and dizziness began to overwhelm him, Jin had no choice but to glare unfriendlily at the newcomer.

His original plan was actually for revenge. Though he was slightly distracted and made a small mistake, he had already calculated everything.

His plan was to get close to the building while the enemies were busy handling the Blood Slaves, kill the machine gunners one by one, and finally take out the sniper.

But the woman had distracted the enemy and now they were fully focused on him. With a motorcycle by his side, the sniper was likely waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

"Damn, women always bring trouble!"Jin muttered a curse under his breath, his gaze flickering between the enemy positions and the woman.

Although the other party could have run away with her motorcycle, she had chosen to wait for his answer or perhaps for him to calm down?

Jin couldn't decide whether the other party was too kind or simply a fool, but he knew one thing for sure - she wanted something from him.

"I don't believe there is such a kind and holy person," Jin thought to himself.

There was nothing free in this world. Coming from 19km away just to save him because he was their security guard?

That was simply too fantastical. Additionally, even though his appearance had already changed, she still recognized him?

"Unless she didn't come from the apartment, instead she was also stuck with me in this area?" Jin thought inwardly. Regardless of the possibilities, it was better to efficiently use this golden opportunity.

"You said you know me? Are you perhaps from Zhongyuan Apartment?" he asked, even though he knew there was a possibility of the other party lying.

As Jin looked closer at her, he noticed she had no gun and it appeared that her suit couldn't accommodate any additional weapons.

So, she came here harmless and was relying on just her motorcycle? How did she manage to pass through the rain of bullets from those machine guns?

The more Jin thought about it, the more confused he became. She had just casually driven her motorcycle to the car above him.

Was she not scared of being hit or did she possess a skill that allowed her to evade the bullets?

On the other hand, the other party who heard Jin's question seemed to fall into deep thought.

"Either she didn't hear me clearly like before or she's trying to come up with a good excuse," Jin thought to himself. But he didn't believe that after the first mistake, she wouldn't pay full attention to him. It was more likely that she was coming up with excuses.

The black full-face helmet didn't give him a chance to see the other party's reaction, but from the dazed state fixing on him, she was truly thinking of a good excuse.

"If she was honest, she would have immediately answered my question, yet now..." Jin's amber slit eyes glowed as he looked at the motorcycle lying on the ground.

Perhaps he could just take the motorcycle and leave her here? After all, they were strangers, and although she knew his name, she probably wouldn't survive in this situation.

Just as both of them were sizing each other up, they suddenly heard the machine guns firing, which had been focused on annihilating the mass of Blood Slaves, abruptly stop. This could have been due to one of the barrels overheating.

"Now it's my chance," Jin shouted inwardly.

Although he was trapped, he had no problem getting out of the encirclement by relying on his slightly faster speed to jump between the abandoned cars and take cover.

However, who knows if the perfectly-made plans would actually lack support from fate?

"Yes, let's go now! This is our chance! I will answer all of your questions later!" The woman, who had been silent for a moment, suddenly acted and jumped at Jin.

Her hand swiftly grabbed his vest collar from the back of his neck as she crouched down beside him.

"Are you crazy-?" Just as Jin wanted to complain, his mouth was suddenly covered with the rough animal leather of her black gloves.

"I said shut up and follow me!" The woman shouted, and this time, Jin could clearly see the glaring eyes behind the black glass of her helmet.

The woman who had been grabbing Jin from behind suddenly had part of her body enveloped in light.

The next moment, Jin's slit-amber eyes widened as he was surprised by the sudden appearance of a black katana.

The woman then stood up, holding the katana in one hand as she faced the direction where the sniper had shot at him.

Jin, who was being held, awkwardly lay like a doll in her grip, which pinched the vital point of his throat and made it difficult for him to even complain.

SLASH!

Suddenly, Jin heard a slashing sound. When he tried to check what had happened, he was slightly shocked to see a sniper bullet cut in half.

"Now that the threat is gone, let's go!" Without wasting any more time, the woman took her motorcycle and easily put him in the back seat.

The hard and narrow seat pressed uncomfortably against him, and Jin almost fell off. But the woman was so fast that she held his hands and forced him to put them on her slim waist.

"Damn, Jin, you're like a kid!" the woman complained. It didn't seem weird to her as her height was only 175 cm, much shorter than Jin who looked like a tower standing behind the motorcycle.

BLAST!

The motorcycle hit the pedal as they sped off and took corners, dodging each abandoned car on the main road.

Several minutes away, the once long and wide main road was now empty without any sign of cars. Jin, who had his right shoulder healed, was struck upon realizing something.

"How is it possible to have so many abandoned cars in the middle of the night?"

Not only was the area near the ports filled with abandoned cars, but the number of Blood Slaves in the area near supermarket was actually over a hundred.

This meant that all of his assumptions regarding people sleeping at night seemed not entirely true.

But now, after coming out of the port area and seeing that the main road was clear without even a single car, his mind was confused.

"Are those cars actually belonging to citizens or gang members?" As Jin was lost in deep thought, he suddenly regained his focus when he heard an alluring and sweet voice coming from the front.

"So, what's the question you wanted to ask?" The tone was plain, but he could sense annoyance and frustration in her voice.

However, this time, unlike before where the gun noises interrupted his thoughts, the voice of this woman and the tone she used seemed more familiar to him.

With the appearance of the katana, a certain image of a young lady flashed in Jin's mind. "Nothing. I guess you are Miss Wei from unit number 101?" Jin answered with confidence.

As if his guess was correct, the woman's body flinched and her tone sounded groggy. "You finally guessed, hmp!" Miss Wei snorted at his response. But her next words confirmed his guess. "So, do you still have the key?"
