Chapter Eight

Antoinette had been studying all the information she read from grandpa Ben's journals and also from Licht. She just wasn't satisfied with her recent findings and the urge for more intelligence pumped some adrenaline in her vessels.

She noticed a sheet stuck to another in one of the journals. Exictment coursed in her brain.

It seems the sheet was intentionally stuck that way, could contain some vital information which could be of assistance to her.

Detaching the two attached sheets, she saw that one sheet had a photograph of a building glued to it.

The building on the photograph looked familiar to her but she wasn't sure where she had seen that building but she knew she had seen it somewhere.

After scrutinizing the photograph she remembered where she had seen that building in the photograph, it was closer to the town's diamond mine. She gathered her mini pistol with a few important things to help her in the investigation into a duffel bag and went to the garage for her motorcycle. The trip lasted for a few minutes since it wasn't that far from her current location.

She hid behind some trees to obscure anyone's view of her and noticed two military trucks emerging from the building since it was in the form of a warehouse. After a few minutes elapsed, she had also double checked her surroundings to be sure no one was tailing her before she entered the building. The sight inside baffled her eyes because she saw a ton of medi-capsules containing lifeless forms of humans of both sex floating inside a form of fluid in the tubes.

Approaching one of the tubes, she noticed that the occupant seemed to be in a state of unconsciousness. She took a few shots of the room and was about to head out when she head the footsteps of people which appeared to be in close quarters with where she stood. Her reflexes kicked in and she hid behind the tubes located farther at the back of the room.

The owners of the footsteps stepped into the light and she saw the General walking with two other men who distinguished themselves from him by being clad in lab coats.

" Doctor Rudaclav, how is the progress of the cell mutation of the subjects." He asked the older of the two scientists who seemed to make an attempt to answer

" Well Sir the development of the mutation cells are far more progressing than I had imagined especially those with the CMV negative blood group are reacting faster than the other subjects." Doctor Rudaclav said

" How about you Doctor Vkinsliv, how many test subjects have we retained and how many have failed the test and also how much progress in the complete vampire cell."

Doctor Vkinsliv straightened the collar of his lab coat as he prepared to answer the General's question.

" General, the number of test subjects who are viable passed are 50,000 in number while unfortunately the number who failed the viability test are 10,345 in number due to some unexpected events surrounding their makeup and also the complete vampire cell is still not made."

The General listened to the doctor explain the experiment s they had conducted with a look of displeasure on his face.

" So what you're trying to say is that, you still haven't been able to manufacture the vampire cell which could grant the subject protection from the sun and immense abilities." He bellowed as both doctors trembled at the sound of his voice

" General, we are still working on it and hope for the vampire mutation cells even if one could reconstruct and mutate into the complete form but we need more time." Doctor Vkinsliv addressed him

" More time, how much time do you need again. You lot have just this week to produce me results on the complete vampire cell and failure to do so will result in you becoming a lab rat and also get rid of this trash you call results." He pointed at the files Doctor Rudaclav tried to show him

Within a few minutes, they all left the manufacturing nest. Antoinette came out of her hiding place but in a sneaky manner to avoid the lenses of the CCTV cameras overhead. She went around snooping for more information in the building and noticed a door at the far left end of the building with a sign of AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY displayed at the top. Within a few inches to open the door she heard the sounds of approaching leather boots, hides behind another tube.

Five soldiers emerged from one of the doors , each pushing a trolley with what looked like blood banks placed in them and they seem to be approaching Antoinette. She was ready to put up a fight before she was caught but fortunately for her, they were heading to the door marked AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY. She thanked her stars but that was what saved her from what would have happened if she had tried to open the door.

It turns out, the door had a laser system attached and it automatically scans anyone who touches it to confirm whether the person has access to the room. One of the soldiers who seemed to be the senior amongst the lot, removed a key card from his front pocket and showed it at a sensor on the door which she could've missed seeing and a beep was heard before the door opened.

Antoinette wasn't able to enter but she managed to take a video of the inside before the door shut but she wished she hadn't because when she viewed the video she saw something horrifying. The room seemed to be where the manufactured vampires were fed because the video showed what used to be humans drinking from a blood bag as they were locked up in steel cages which appeared to have a built in electrical shocker and would generate electrical charges to the entire cage, electrifying the vampires as they touched the bars to receive their blood bags.

She couldn't contain the horror she just watched and wanted to throw up but didn't want to get exposed in the process. She stared at the door opposite to where the vampires feeding room was, where she saw the General and the two doctors enter as she devised a plan to enter there since it had no security system to access it.
