"Help" I screamed as I ran still hearing footsteps behind me I couldn't stop if he caught me i hitched a sob running into traffic car headlights coming straight at me I crouched waiting to be hit but it didn't happen falling to my knees I sobbed my hands on the tarmac the low rumble of the car engine right next to me " are you crazy I nearly hit you" a guy yelled slamming his door " did you hear me?" His voice trailed off seeing the blood running down my arm he knelt down " hey what happened to you?"" I was attacked he he's I'm chased" I sobbed trying to catch my breath " he was in my home" I hitched a breath " can you stand?"" I'm not sure" I answered but took the hand offered out to me getting up my hand tingled. I looked up my eyes going wide I stepped back a little taking my hand away " your your Alexander "" yeah I am" he cut me off "but I'm just a person ok" he smiled bending his knees a little to look at me his hands on my shoulders feeling a warmth from his fingers I gulped "I'm going to take you to the hospital. The guy got you pretty good" Alexander Mitchell moved a loose strand of hair behind my ear glancing over my shoulder seeing someone running towards us but slowing to a walk when they realised I'd been helped " Hey!!" He yelled running to catch the guy " Alex stop Alex!" I hugged myself not wanting to see him get hurt, he stopped at the corner seeing the guy getting away his eyes golden and shimmering as he watched my attacker leave, he looked at me over his shoulder, jogging back to me he blinked away his changed eyes" let's get going" he said looking at his watch so he could check the traffic cameras

Three hours later Alex was sat in the private observation room with me waiting for my X-ray results the police having been and gone along with the csi woman " how's your head?" He asked walking to the bed I was sat on " it still hurts but I hit it pretty hard on the floor I think" I played with my fingers not sure what to say to the new business man in town waiting with me " sorry I ran out in front of you"" it's ok I'm just glad I didn't hit you I'd never have forgiven myself" he smiled walking closer to the bed he sat awkwardly on the edge " I can't believe that guy was waiting for you"" neither can I I need to call a motel get a room sorted I can't go back their if he's done it once he could do it again" I shivered "don't worry about that yet. You've probably got a concussion they won't let you be anywhere alone for a few days" Alex answered me looking as the door clicked open the doctor walking in with my results " nothings broken" the doctor smiled " thank god" I sighed " you do have a concussion though and that bump on your head will hurt for a few days. You'll need to wake her every few hours tonight"" we're not"" sure doc" Alex cut me off taking my hand. The heat and warmth from his touch still their " does that mean I can take her home?"" Yeah I've already signed the papers"" great thanks for everything doc" Alex shook the doctors hand getting to his feet " you ready to get out of here?"" Yeah but"" come on then" he waited for me to get up resting his hand on the small of my back we walked through the hospital. a few of the nurses whispered just loud enough for us to hear making me uncomfortable I wasn't anything to Alex but they thought we were a couple " I need to sort out that hotel before I leave"" you can stay at mine for tonight"he said as we got in the elevator to the car park "Alex we don't know each other"" I know but I'd feel better knowing you were with me" he looked at me pushing the emergency stop button. " look Maggie I want to look after you tonight please. I know what that guy looks like. I don't want be worrying he's found where you are without me their to protect you"" I'm not yours to protect though" I said shyly his eyes burning into me seeing a flash of gold that was gone before I could register it I quickly looked away " I'm not so sure. My dads always saying things happen for a reason I think this is one of those times I need to listen to him""
