[Quincy Archer Hates You Arc] Part 51: Your name is...

Yato: "Could you… repeat what you just said…?"

Suddenly the woman started laughing a lot at the face Yato was making.

Woman: "My bad, haha. I was just kidding. I can speak normally, just like you, hahaha." - She said between laughs.

Yato: "....Okay…? So…." - He took another look around her. - "I guess I didn't go back to my world..."

Woman: "Does it make you sad?" - She asked with interest.

Yato: "Honestly… I don't know."

Woman: "That's obvious, otherwise this place wouldn't be like this."

Yato: "And what do you think of this place?"

Woman: "Hmm…honestly, I don't care if this place is a reflection of your old world or a totally different place. What I dislike is this silence.

Yato: "Now that you mention it…I can't listen to the songs anymore…"

Woman: "They stopped when you realized you weren't really home." - She said a little troubled.

Just like him, that woman seemed to like music a lot and if what she said was really true, the silence of this world meant that something bothered Yato, just like how it rained in Ichigo's inner world.

Now Yato had a good idea where he was and he also knew who that woman was, but he didn't want to risk asking her name just yet. He wanted to keep this conversation going for longer.

Yato: "Then…I'll try to solve this problem."

Woman: "Oh? And how are you going to do that?"

Yato opened his mouth to say something but he suddenly blushed a little and the words didn't come out.

The woman looked at him with interest waiting for the answer from the teenager who seemed to have frozen in that position.

Yato: "Just…give me a minute…" - He put his hand over his face almost as if he was trying to hide.

Woman: "I'm waiting." - She said laughing.

Suddenly Yato started muttering something with his eyes closed and his face still red with embarrassment.

Woman: "I think you need to speak a little louder..."

Yato: "Osanai te ni tsutsunda~" He paused for a long time.

His voice was still low, but now the woman could finally understand that he was trying to sing and suddenly her expression changed. She no longer wore an amused smile. She had closed her eyes, almost as if she was trying to concentrate on Yato's voice.

Noticing the woman's attitude, Yato slowly sang a little louder.

Yato: "Furueteru sono hikari wo~

Koko made tadotte kita~

Jikan no fuchi wo samayoi~"

As he sang, he couldn't help but think of how a simple game had totally changed the way he acted.

As a youngster, he was a very impulsive kid and would fight over literally anything and this was reflected in the types of games he played. It was always fighting games. He just had no interest in stories or songs or anything like that.

That all changed when he read about a game called Chrono Cross. For some reason, reading about the game's history fascinated the teenager and when he finally had the game in his hands, it was the first time he started to care about something other than fighting.

Each soundtrack in the game conveyed a unique feeling, as if Yato himself could feel what the characters felt.

The game was so memorable for him that even though he didn't play it, he listened to the soundtracks whenever he could, whether in happy or sad moments.

When Yato said that he would try to fix that place, one of the game's songs came to mind almost automatically.

Yato already knew that that world represented the attachment he had to his original world and the world he currently lived in and even if that didn't bother that woman or Yato himself, it was something that the teenager wanted to change.

Woman: "Oh…looks like it's working…"

The teenager still didn't know what was going on around him because he had his eyes closed and gradually stopped singing, only to realize that the music was still playing around him.

Woman: "Now…look around you…is this change satisfactory?"

Yato opened his eyes only to notice that the world had really changed. Rather than having a divider between two worlds, it now feels like everything has merged.

The sunset scene remained, but now Yato and the woman were on a lawn, with some trees and houses around. Some houses were similar to Karakura's while others were similar to houses from his original world. The scenery looked more beautiful than before.

Yato: "What do you think of this place now?" - He asked as he continued looking at the sunset.

Woman: "I had nothing against the previous look, but I must admit I like this one better…and most importantly, the silence is gone." - She said with a smile.

The two spent a few moments looking at the eternal sunset while listening to the music that played in that world until the woman decided to speak.

Woman: "So…are you ready to say my name yet?"

Yato looked at her for a few seconds as he decided whether to try saying her name. At the same time that he was anxious, he was afraid that he ended up not having connected enough with her, until something crossed his mind.

If this woman really was his zanpakuto, if she really was part of his soul, she would leave obvious clues if she sensed the doubts he had.

She was quite extravagant and her clothing consisted of many details that resembled a bird. If he wanted to be poetic due to his situation of being reincarnated in another world, Yato would say that she is a phoenix, a bird related to fire, which was his favorite element.

He looked back at the sunset and found it ironic that his world was so warm, and the young man preferred the opposite. It's not that he didn't like hot weather, he just didn't like sweating around doing nothing.

The feeling he had was that despite that glow, it was as if Yato was looking at the moon. Staring at her didn't bother him.

Woman: "So…?" - She smiled

He gave a slight smile and turned his attention to the woman as he extended his right hand towards her.

Yato: "Your name…is Ōkagetsu. Let's get along from now on."

[1] The song that Yato sang is the ending song of the Chrono Cross game, Radical Dreamers ~ Unstolen Jewel ~ by Noriko Mitose

[2] In case I didn't confuse anything, the Kanjis I used for the name Ōkagetsu "凰火月", means "Female Phoenix bird, Fire Moon"
