Chapter 240 What is wrong with the souls of this universe

"How does your lordship know about my big sister?" Shinobu asked. 'Did Okayata-sama tell him about her?' Shinobu thought.

"Well, do you believe in the afterlife?" Ichigo didn't answer but asked instead. 

He looked at a very beautiful woman behind her.

She was Kocho Kanae, her big sister. She had been with her since Ichigo met her when she attacked him with the other Hashira.

She wanted to protect her from him, but it was useless. Fortunately, Ichigo didn't use a lethal attack that might cause her soul to disperse. Otherwise, she wouldn't be here with her little sister.

She was surprised that he could see her, and when she heard that he was a Shinigami, She couldn't help but ask him to help her speak with her little sister. She had observed him when he healed Nezuko.

He was a good gentleman and didn't hold grudges against her little sister. So he might help her if she pleads with him.

There were many things that she didn't have a chance to tell Shinobu before she passed away. 

Shinobu went silent a little and then nodded.

"I didn't believe in the afterlife before, but if your lordship is really a Shinigami, I have a reason to believe that there is one," Shinobu finally answered, her eyes filled with hope.

Not only Kanae, who had so many things to say, but also Shinobu, her little sister. 

Her death was so sudden and unexpected that they didn't have a chance to say goodbye.

He spoke about her big sister, which meant he might know something about her. Maybe she was around her, but she just couldn't see her. 

Ichigo smiled, and it was like she had thought.

"She is here with us. She has been watching over you this whole time," Ichigo said as he pointed his finger behind her.

He then transferred his soul energy to her a little bit so she could manifest herself before them in the physical world. As he was a Shinigami, it was his duty to send her to the afterlife.

Letting her speak with her little sister might bring her some closure before she passes on.

"Kanae Onee-sama…" Shinobu was shocked when she saw her big sister materialize in thin air.

She was her big sister, whom she had lost many years ago in the hands of an Upper Moon Rank Demon.

"Shinobu…" Kanae cried tears of joy.

She hugged her little sister tightly, feeling grateful for the chance that Ichigo gave her.

Shinobu was still shocked, but she returned to her senses after feeling her sister's embrace. She hugged her back and began to cry like a baby. To her, her big sister was a pillar that she could always rely on for strength and comfort.

Now she had her back, even though it was temporary. The feeling of everything that she had been through poured out in that moment, and she felt relief wash over her. 

Kanae whispered words of encouragement and reassurance, promising to protect Shinobu no matter what.

Ichigo looked at the siblings' love for each other and felt moved. He then looked at Nezuko and Tanjirou. They must have passed through many things together before, just like them.

Nezuko woke up, and then she looked at Ichigo with a smile. She then turned her head toward Tanjirou. Ichigo knew what she wanted.

He let her down, and then she ran toward her big brother to hug him. She had been healed enough for her to not stay close to him anymore. And her memories returned quite a bit, and she remembered about Tanjirou.

'I will check on her later.' Ichigo still had to check on her soul. She could become a Shinigami if she wanted to.

After that, Ichigo looked back at the Kocho siblings. He thought that Kanae would pass on to the afterlife after she talked with Shinobu. However, something went wrong.

"She just absorbed my soul energy like Nezuko." She didn't return his soul energy to him but absorbed it hungrily. She had become a soul race rather than being sent toward the afterlife to be reborn again.

Ichigo couldn't help but think. 'What is wrong with the souls of people in this universe?'

How could they absorb other soul energy like that? They weren't from the soul race from the beginning!

Ichigo had created a potential Shinigami in this universe again. Should he create the Gotei 13 of this universe?
