A Warrior Or A Coward?

"This is not quite a story but it is the two futures you can choose." Adonis said. I didn't quite understand what he was getting at so I relaxed on my chair, realizing that this will take some time.

"There are two types of people, Blaze. One is a person who lives a normal life. And the other, a warrior with a hard life." Adonis started. I had already chosen my future. I would be a normal person with no work, sleeping in my house for as long as I want. "The normal person's life is very simple and peaceful. He always lives happily with his children." Adonis said. I thought, Was he on my side?

"But think about it. When you become old, your children and maybe even grandchildren will remember you. But what about the generation after that? They will forget you. They will not even know who you were or what you had done. You will never be remembered." Adonis explained. I suddenly felt bad for the normal type. I wanted everyone to remember me but...

"Let's go to the warrior's life. His life is not easy. Adventures, mysteries, hardship always follow him. He may even get tired of it. But when he dies, he will be remembered by everyone for his great deeds. He will become a legend and no one will forget about his legacies for thousands of year coming." Adonis described. Now I slowly began to think opposite. What if I become a warrior, I thought.

"Now it's up to you, kid. Do you want to be a normal, coward person who lives life happily but will be never known. Or do you want to be a warrior, with a life of hardships, doing great deed and earning respect which will last forever." Adonis finished his great speech. He put me into a tight corner. I did want to live happily but I also didn't want to be forgotten. For if I will never be remembered, then what is the use of life? Why am I living?

Maybe you need to lose something to earn something. I looked at Adonis who was the best example I saw. He was a great warrior. Even after retiring, he is known and everyone respects him. I knew what I needed to choose.

"I will be a warrior!" I declared with pride. Adonis's smile widened. "That is an honest choice, kid!" He exclaimed. "I am ready to participate in the Warrior…. Whatever it is." I said. Adonis nodded. Together we discussed a lot about the tournament. The event was going to be held in two days which meant that I needed to hurry in the registration. There were going to be several rounds to crown the strongest warrior.

"Do you know who is organizing this event?" Adonis asked. Before I could say no, Adonis blurted, "Its Rock Flames!!! He was the greatest warrior of my time. I have only met him once for which, I treat myself as very special." Whoever that guy was, he sure was popular. Adonis wasn't a guy who used to praise people for no reason. I couldn't wait to meet the guy he was talking about.

I reached home and told my father and grandma everything about the tournament. They looked happier when they heard about Rock Flames organizing the tournament. My father exclaimed, "That's great, son! Go participate. I am sure you can attain victory. But for now, you need to practice."
