12 Chapter 12: Life in Konoha (1)

After the meeting of the Hokage and Max, the Hokage went to the doctor that had treated Max.

In most of situations that new people with sketchy backgrounds arrive at the village, they take some of the blood and have it analyzed. They weren't advanced enough to know everything that they want from it, but some of the characteristics of every clan can be discovered by viewing their blood. In most cases, the analysis comes up unrelated with the different samples that they have of the clans in the nation.

In any case, is still better to check for matches in their database. Is better to know that no one of those problematic clans takes refuge inside their walls.

"Doctor, tell me what you have found." The Hokage entered the office of the doctor in charge and asked after closing the door.

"Well, this is the first time that I have seen something like this. I'm beginning to think that we won't ever really know the extent of information we would be able to gather from blood and tests." The doctor told the Hokage as he gathered all the different documents that he had in front of him.

"Focus. Let's start with the basics and move from that." The Hokage knew that most of the scientists in the village like to follow their own thoughts all day. If they had the time, they would spend it just reorganizing everything that passes in their minds.

"Right." The doctor finished organizing his documents and began reading. "The was no match with any of the samples in our database, so that means that at least he doesn't come from any big family.

He also let us do some of the advanced test on him, which means that we gathered a lot of from him. We found his anatomy to be somewhat different with the others. His chakra network in his limbs is especially are ticker and broader than normal.

In contrary, the chakra network in his head is thinner than usually. I won't be surprised if he has problems with his eyes especially. On that note, his eyes tend to lose focus every now and then. I don't know the cause of it, but at least he never appears unaware of his surroundings when that happens.

Surprisingly, he is only just 12 years old. The test that we did showed that his regenerating powers are very active for someone of his age, so we expect that he should grow even taller in the future.

Also, on that note, we asked him about his diet. He told us that he just usually eats vegetables since the village from were he lived was poor. We recommended a better diet for him since he told us that he has a big training load every day. Chakra could do wonders to our bodies, but a better nutrition could increase his recovery even further.

About the injury in his right hand. it was caused by poor condition and overuse of chakra on his hands. We put a cast on it so that he doesn't use his arm for 2 days straight. After that, he could go back training."

The Hokage heard everything that the doctor said and didn't interrupted him. There was some information that made him frown a little but nothing urgent. He also didn't think much about his age, since there was always someone that exceeded the norm.

What interested him was that Max's body still had regeneration power even in the condition that he lived in. Compared to the doctor, the Hokage knew the real condition of that village.

"Did he say anything about all the test?" The Hokage took the documents from the doctor and asked. The Hokage had learned how to read the notes of the doctors with the years as a Hokage, so he decided to ask something that shouldn't already be in the papers.

"Well, he was very interested in how we use chakra to heal wounds. He tried to mimic what we do with no luck. Still, his enthusiasm was appreciated." The doctor said with some pried on his face. It wasn't common seen young people take an interest in medicine, so having someone ask so much about their arts made him happy.

The Hokage on the other hand knew that Max only asked because he saw the same level of control that he had over his chakra on the medics. Since he hasn't met a lot of people that uses chakra in his life, his curiosity is always at its peak.

"Anything else?" The Hokage said as he was content with the things that the doctor had found out. He was preparing to just leave after congratulating the doctor when he saw the face of the doctor frown a lot.

"Well. I don't even know how to interpret what I saw, so I just tell you. As we were talking about medical arts and chakra control, I got the idea of testing his chakra nature." The doctor said and paused.

The Hokage got interested after hearing that they did that test. "So, what is his chakra nature?"

"The paper only showed two natures." The doctor said quickly, but then stopped and continued. "Well, at least I think it was only two"

"Oh? Explain." The Hokage got even mor curious.

"Well, Max inserted chakra quickly on the paper and it became dirt and lit up. Normally with that we'll just define it as fire and earth and be done with it. But something else happened. The paper that had caught fire and turned into dirt didn't crumbled or turned into ash, it just stayed intact in his hand." The doctor said as he showed some ashes that he had in a bottle on his desk.

"That is what is left of the paper?" The Hokage asked.

"Yes. I thought that the paper would stay like that until you got here, but it crumbled away not long ago." The doctor said with disappointment.

"Wait. What do you mean that it only crumbled moments ago? It stayed like that for hours?" The Hokage got even more surprised when he noticed that.

"Yes. For whatever reason, the paper lasted that much time without crumbling or turning to ash. I told Max that sometimes paper lasted longer to not alarm him." The doctor said as he scratched his head thinking of what had happened.

"Humn." The Hokage took some time thinking about that, but he got out of his train of thought and said. "Forget about the paper for now. It may had been something to do with a kekkei genkai that we have not deal with before, so just let me figure it out.

Another thing, watch out for root. They tend to take away new people in the village, but this time Kakashi asked me to take care of the boy so I'm planning to integrate him to the village."

With that, the Hokage said his goodbyes to the doctor and left. He came to the infirmary thinking nothing much for what he was going to do, but now he was leaving with a lot of questions.

'English and now this? Let's hope that Danzo doesn't take that much interest in Max for now. At least until the exams passes.'

As the Hokage was thinking, he suddenly stopped. An idea had taken root in his mind which made him smile a little.

'If I do that, I can protect the kid without having to mind Danzo that much.'

The Hokage resumed walking towards his office, but much less worried than he was before.

2 days passed quickly.

Max was getting his cast removed by one of the nurses. The nurse had been coming to the room in the passed 2 days to check up on him and the cast. After seen that Max didn't mess around and healed properly, she decided to deal with the cast the first thing in the morning.

"There we go, try moving your arm and tell me if you have any discomfort." The nurse acted like a true professional as she asked Max to try out his arm.

Max on the other hand started stretching every muscle in his hand. He felt tired of staying in the hospital bed for most of the time and wanted to go back to his training.

*Clack*

The joints in his arm started to pop as he stretched and moved. At the end, Max started to smile as he felt his arm was in top condition.

"Thanks miss. My arm is as good as new." Max said and bowed to the nurse.

"No need to thank me that much. You did your part by staying put and not moving around that much." The nurse smiled as she said. Then she took out a scroll from her bag and presented it to Max. "I was also tasked to give you this after your recovery."

Max took the scroll and opened it right then. The scroll was a note from Kakashi telling him to go to the training spot of the village.

"At least Kakashi know me. But not enough to know that I need directions." Max sighed as he rolled back the scroll.

It was his third day in Konoha, but he had only been to two different places. Max haven't even heard of the name of the place that the scroll said.

"Excuse nurse." Max quickly called the nurse. The nurse was about to leave the room when she heard Max and turned around.

"Yes?"

"By any chance do you know were this place is at?" Max said as he showed the name of the place that was on the scroll.

"Back to training already? Don't expect for us to treat you as kindly as we did if you get back here with the same injury." The nurse a little mad at Max, but she still gave him directions.

"Sorry about that." Max could only smile wryly as he left the room.

Max said his goodbyes to the staff that he meets on his days in there. It was a little strange meeting people for Max since he liked to be by himself, but he decided to try at least to get to know them.

'Fighting for someone else is the way that Haku became as strong as he is. If I'm going to try experimenting the same, I need to at least bond with the people in this village.'

It didn't take that much time for Max to reach the place that Kakashi mentioned. But, he didn't find anyone there when he got there because it was so early.

'Kakashi didn't count on that the nurse would clear me first thing in the morning. It's better if I do my own training while I wait.'

Max decided to do some stretching and warm up but got interrupted when he noticed the presence of someone on one of the trees in the training ground.

"The power of youth is boiling in you, Max! I planned to get here early and do some training for myself while I waited for you, but I couldn't imagine that we share the same passion for training." The man in the tree said as he jumped.

As the man moved in the air, Max noticed looked at him. The man was wearing a weird green tights suit under his ninja vest. With his bowl cut and shinning smile, he did some flips in air and landed stylishly in front of Max. As Max noticed all these characteristics, a feeling not known to him came out.

"No no. I think you have the wrong person." Max quickly dismissed the man that did such entrance and turned around and started to leave.

"Wait Max! I'm here to train with you! MAX!" The man ran towards Max when he saw that Max was really trying to leave.

Max noticed a feeling that he had never gotten before. The feeling of 'not wanting to be seen with that person'.
