But when he stepped back into his room a few minutes later, a towel wrapped around his waist, Ran’imy was perched on the edge of his bed. The smug expression on her face settled like a shard of ice in his gut, freezing him in place. She hadn’t come alone, Barton was close by and much to Io’s dismay, Cinder stood in the doorway.
“What’s this all about?”
Ran’imy climbed to her feet, basking in the moment. No doubt she was about to throw him under the buss again. “Masonry Gargoyle Io, you’ve broken one of the most important rules. You left this nest tonight with the express purpose of contacting a Guardian.”
