1 Blacksmith God System

"Father!!"

A young man was crying, holding a bloody body in his hands. His village was burning down all around him. The warriors were busily fighting with the monsters who invaded this peaceful place. He trembled as he saw his father's ragged breath and weak figure. Why did his father, the only blacksmith in this village, have to be the first victim?!

"Don't cry, Heiner. Our Berkel family have been blacksmiths for generations, but my capability is poor. The weapons I created cannot even penetrate monsters' skin and are the cause for our village's downfall." As he struggled to breathe, his face paled. "Flee. The warriors cannot hold any longer. Live on, you are the head of Berkel family now. Take this spatial bracelet with you. There are some tools and materials contained within. I..."

Heiner's father passed away without finishing his last sentence. These were his last moments. The stars were shining in the dark sky but he was unable to see them. As well as his son, he hoped the heir of his family would survive and continue their bloodline.

Also, he, Julian Berkel, was a bit worried, his son had shown good potential since he was four, picking a small hammer and tried smithing. From his father's help, the four-year-old Heiner could craft a small knife. He was eager to learn everything but he chose to focus on smithing. If he lived in the outside world, he would become an idiot who knew nothing.

Julian knew his son was not stupid. In fact, his son was a genius somehow but he focused on smithing for the whole eleven years and became a 'slow in the head' in another field. There was no problem if he lived in this nameless village with his family but the situation changed. After today, he had no one to think for him and must rely on himself. The learning curve was quite something but nothing could stop his potential when he passed this trial.

Julian did not expect the sudden changed and regret not to teach his son more about the world. That made him worried until his last breath but nothing he could do right now. He knew he did nothing wrong. If there was something wrong, then it was this world.

The world was unfair. Why people who wanted to live peacefully would die like this? Why monsters did this? Where was protection? Where was justice? Those damn nobles only sent people to collect tax but help nothing. Did nobles care for commoners' life? No, they cared only themselves. Why would the commoners suffer for generations with no end? This damn world needed a change.

Heiner grabbed his father's bracelet and stood up, his face filled with tears and resolve. He ran to the mountain. At the top of the mountain, he saw a big fire in the darkness below, showing how monsters killed every living thing. Heiner's heart hurt to see this but he had to endure and keep looking forward. He clenched his fists tightly. He hated those monsters to bones, and the thought of his dead father made his anger soar to the skies. If he had the power, he would change this world.

"I, Heiner Berkel, the last member of Berkel family swear to gods, I will make the ultimate weapon to kill all these damn monsters!!"

[Ding! Requirement complete!]

[Before the God of Blacksmiths fell, he created a system to pass down his will to slay all devils.]

[System will help you become the next smithing god.]

A robotic voice rang in his head. Heiner was stunned.

"W-what is that voice?" And then he heard something that made his expression changed suddenly.

[This is a voice of the Blacksmith God System. You are the chosen one who will fulfill the will of the previous God of Blacksmiths. If you want to exact revenge those monsters, continually create better and better weapons and artifacts to unlock more system functions.]

"What can I do with the system?"

[Now, you can see your status. A new function will unlock when you reach level 2]

"How can I see my status?"

[Just say 'status' in your head.]

'Okay, status...'

[Ding!]

Level: 1 (EXP: 0/10)

Strength: 1 Intelligence: 3

"So... this is my status." Heiner pitied how weak he is. Seeing the status, he could become a king of trash. "How can I gain EXP to level up?"

[Making any weapons or artifacts will provide you EXP depends on its performance.]

"Any weapons?" His eyebrows furled as his curiosity was stimulated.

[Yes!]

"Okay, I'll try it once." Heiner took a long knife out of his spatial bracelet and chopped at the stem of a long branch. Quickly, he sharpened it into a wooden spear.

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden spear. The reward is 1 EXP.]

"Wow, just a wooden spear gives me 1 EXP. I wonder if I can become a god by turning all branches into weapons." Heiner continued to make new spears, chopping down branch after branch.

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden spear. The reward is 1 EXP]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden spear. The reward is 1 EXP]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have collected 10 EXP. You have leveled up to level 2. The reward is 5 contribution points. Status unlocked. Now you can see all stats and assign your points.]

[Ding! New function unlocked! Now you can sell your items for coins.]

[Ding! The system found 10 useless normal wooden spears. Do you want to sell for 10 bronze coins?]

"Yes!" He replied without hesitation. Those wooden spears were as good as trash, no one would buy them. If he can turn them into money, there is no reason to refuse goodwill of the system.

[Ding! Your 10 normal wooden spears are sold for 10 bronze coins.]

'Status'

[Ding!]

[Do you want to use contribution points now?]

"Yes. Put them all on stamina. I have to leave this place."

[Done! Now your stamina is 6. You can do more activities before getting tired.]

Heiner walked for three hours and needed to rest. His physical body was exhausted. He did not know whether he was tired because of his low stamina or his hunger. The only way to know this was to experiment.

"I have to eat something."

He made another wooden spear and threw it to an unfortunate rabbit.

THUD!

[Ding! You have defeated a rabbit. The rewards are Rabbit Meat x1, Rabbit Pelt x1]

Heiner kept the rabbit pelt in his bracelet and started a fire to cook the rabbit meat. He suspected that food and stamina were related since after he ate, his stamina rapidly increased. He realized that food and drink could recover his stamina at a miraculous rate!

"It's a very mysterious system. Food is not fully digested but it fills me stamina instantly. I should grind my level to three and leave this mountain before they find me."

Heiner began to repeat this process of making wooden spears and killing any rabbit he faced. He kept the rabbit pelt for later use. Each rabbit pelt was worth 10 bronze coins to the system, but Heiner convinced himself to keep them for the time being. All wooden spears he created are all normal wooden spear, he assumed that higher rate weapon could not be done because his luck is only 1.

Now he had 65 bronze coins and 11 stamina. By heading to the southeast for two days, he reached a forest. "This should be Altima forest. From the map, it should take me three more days to reach the city. What a tiring journey. It would take me 70% less time if I ride a horse but I have nothing. No...I still have the system."

"System, what is the next function?"

[System cannot reveal information. The next function can be unlocked at level 5, that's all I can tell about it.]

"Huh? It's a long path. The needed EXP increase is too much. I cannot rely on making wooden spears anymore. Maybe I should make a bow next."

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden bow. The reward is 5 EXP]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden arrow. The reward is 1 EXP]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have created a normal wooden arrow. The reward is 1 EXP]

...

[Ding! Congratulations! You have leveled up to level 3. The reward is 5 contribution points.]

[Do you want to use contribution points now?]

"No. Thanks. I'm safe here. I'll decide how to use them later."

The wooden bow was more complex than a wooden spear. Thus, it could be sold for 5 bronze coins. Heiner assumed that the system evaluated items by their complexity, and so he would get coins equal to EXP. As the system said earlier "continually create better and better weapons and artifacts".

He clearly understood what that meant at this moment. If he kept making low-grade weapons and artifacts, it would take him ages to level up and his dream to become a true expert was fleeting. There was no way he could have his revenge in this life like that.

THUD!

'Shooting arrows is harder than I expected. I was lucky enough to have a smooth journey so far, but in this forest, I may encounter some dangerous beasts. Preparing myself here before going deeper is the best choice. I have to hone my skills to protect myself.'

THUD!

THUD!

THUD!

...

THUD!

[Ding! Congratulations! Your understanding of bow-type weapon increases. The chance to craft rare rate bows increases by 1%.]

"Damn it! Increasing my luck stat should be enough for making a better rate weapon. Who knew it would need my skill with the weapon too! System, is there another way to increase the chance of crafting a better weapon?"

[Yes, any blueprints contain a improve your chances. Your understanding of weapon is an extra.]

"Sigh, it's good to know that. Hm? What is that sound?"

[Ding!]

Quest: 'Slaying Robbers'

Difficulty: E

These merchants are in deep trouble. They are surrounded by robbers and their lives are in peril.

As the inheritor of blacksmith god's will, you cannot refuse this quest. This is the first trial. Use your weapons to slay evils! You could gain great rewards or die!

=================

Condition: Slay all enemies. Merchants must alive.

Quest Success: Reward 500 EXP

Quest Failed: Death

=================

"Damn it! This system is threatening me!" Heiner had no choice and rushed through the forest to help the merchants. There were ten robbers without armor, but the five merchant guards couldn't handle them. If this situation continued, the merchants would assuredly die. Suddenly, a big robber broke past the guards and ran forward to kill merchants! Heiner pulled the bowstring and shot at this big dude.

THUD!

The wooden arrow pierced his ass. Heiner succeeded in stopping him from killing merchants, but then the robber turned around to charge at Heiner instead! The arrow had barely hurt the enemy. How could he win this fight?

"System! Put all contribution points to strength!"
