After successfully shooting the elongated ghost and completing his mission, Su Chen sprinted back into the hotel. Despite the many monsters outside, if even one of them spotted him, it could lead to a group of them rushing inside. That would be a disastrous situation, leaving him with no escape.

As a result, Su Chen never witnessed Xia Ming's last expression of gratitude.

Hiding in the shadows, Su Chen was a little disappointed that he had wasted a bullet in vain. He had aimed directly at the head, but the bullet hit the shoulder instead.

Only a few straggling shadows could be seen wandering in the dark and chaotic streets, wailing in the distance. As Su Chen observed their tall and slender figures, he couldn't help but feel as if they were like evil spirits, reminiscent of horror movies.

Su Chen cautiously approached the corpses of the monsters.

Near the entrance of the Tianjing Hotel, he found three elongated ghost corpses. Su Chen had killed one of them himself, while the other two had been riddled with bullets and had their heads blown out.

Perhaps due to the time of their deaths, the three elongated ghosts only had a total of two units of energy left.

Su Chen relied on the dim light from his mobile phone screen to guide his path. He moved forward cautiously while leaning on the junk vehicles at the edge of the street.

This was the first time Su Chen had ventured outside the hotel since the disaster had broken out.

As he walked down the street, it felt like a microcosm of the city. The vehicles from car accidents were scattered in all directions. Some had collided with street lights, while others had rear-ended one another, and some had even caught fire and burned into twisted metal frames. The ground was covered in blood, and most of the stores were in disarray. But there were very few corpses left on this street. They had all been dragged away and devoured by the monsters, leaving behind only the black and red dried blood as evidence of the tragic deaths.

As Su Chen made his way down the street, he noticed a faint glimmer on the second floor of a building across from him.

The dim light revealed a pale face pressed against the edge of the window, resembling a terrifying water ghost.

Upon closer inspection, Su Chen realized that it was a living person, looking down at the chaos on the street with fear and horror. They had likely failed to catch up with the military convoy and were now too scared to leave their room.

Su Chen quickly averted his gaze and continued on his way, carefully maneuvering around the scattered debris and corpses that littered the chaotic street.

Su Chen avoided the area where the elongated ghost was present and continued moving forward in a direction without monsters.

After a few minutes, he stumbled upon four more elongated ghost corpses. However, they had been dead for a longer period of time and together only had a total of two units of energy remaining.

Su Chen couldn't help but notice that the military convoy was moving too quickly, mainly focusing on strafing and blocking. As a result, not nearly enough monsters were being eliminated.

As Su Chen turned a corner, he was confronted with the sight of a monster unlike any he had seen before.

The creature was over two meters long and was completely black. Its skin was covered in a dense layer of pure black scales, and it had a long tail resembling a sickle dragging behind it. The creature's body was covered in densely growing barb-like structures, extending from its neck to the back of its tail. It lacked eyes and a nose in the conventional sense, with only a gaping mouth in the center filled with protruding fangs, giving it an incredibly horrifying appearance.

Unfortunately, the monster was already dead when Su Chen stumbled upon it.

Unlike the elongated ghost, this creature had not dissolved into thick water. To Su Chen's surprise, he discovered that it held three units of energy within its body.

Su Chen took a moment to examine the creature before moving on. As he continued down the street, he came across several more elongated ghost corpses, as well as another black scale monster corpse.

After less than 20 minutes of searching, Su Chen had managed to collect fifteen units of energy without even firing a single shot. He had crawled on the ground, arched his waist, and meticulously searched every inch of the street.

He couldn't believe his luck. Su Chen felt as if he had stumbled upon a pot of gold. It was like taking a step outside and finding a hundred yuan, and then taking another step and finding another hundred yuan. He was filled with excitement and a sense of richness.

Filled with eagerness, Su Chen turned to another street, intending to search for more energy units.

However, his excitement faded away quickly when he turned onto the next street and witnessed a horrifying figure walking at the end of an adjacent street. The flames burning behind it only added to the terror it exuded.

The earth trembled under its weight as it slowly made its way towards Su Chen. The creature stood two stories tall, with a body resembling that of a human. But upon closer inspection, it was clear that its body was composed of large chunks of flesh and blood, with twisted bones intermingled throughout. It was a monstrous creation, resembling a giant sutured together from various body parts.

The creature's head resembled a massive tumor, with a huge eye positioned in the center and a gaping mouth resembling a blood-filled basin below it.

As it moved forward, it patrolled the ground, occasionally picking up the corpses of humans, elongated ghosts, or black scale monsters and devouring them with its massive mouth. Despite its slow pace, there were no other monsters in the immediate vicinity.

The creature exuded a palpable aura of darkness, instilling fear in anyone who laid eyes upon it.

It crushed the scrapped cars on the street underfoot, shattering the glass and sending shards flying in all directions.

Su Chen noticed a group of figures sneaking out of a building behind the flesh and blood giant. They seemed to have missed the military convoy and were taking advantage of the relatively safe street. The giant monster watched as they ran away slowly, uninterested.

However, one of the figures was unlucky and tripped over a broken human calf, letting out a short exclamation.

The flesh and blood giant turned its head stiffly, its massive eye fixing on the tiny humans on the ground.

"Run!" someone screamed,

And the survivors who had been sneaking forward frantically fled in the opposite direction.

Surprisingly, the flesh and blood giant did not immediately give chase. Instead, it arched its body like an athlete, assuming a starting position before beginning to run after the fleeing survivors.

Despite its slow gait, the monster moved with surprising speed and agility.

The massive, slow-moving creature suddenly burst forward with terrifying speed, leaving Su Chen momentarily stunned. Like a blood-red lightning bolt, the creature rushed past the survivors, zigzagging to the left and right with incredible agility. Its massive body seemed to move effortlessly.

The creature launched into a desperate massacre, trampling some survivors to death, squeezing others' heads until they exploded, and tearing some apart with its massive claws.

It kicked off a curtain, revealing a bloody scene of chaos and screams dominating the entire street. The sound of bones breaking and flesh tearing filled the air as the creature continued its rampage, leaving death and destruction in its wake.
