9 Ava is getting married

Ava and Jason are in silence as they chat. Jason noticed that she was feeling uncomfortable.

"Is like you are not comfortable here." Jason pointed out.

"No no…I am…I'm just feeling…not used to such an environment." Ava lied even though it was the truth. She had never been to such a place. All her life, she only saw a glimpse of a wealthy life. She was never opportuned to live a life of luxury.

"It's fine…I can take you to my place and then we can talk there." Jason added as he watched to get her reaction.

"Okay." She replied. Ava wasn't thinking. All she wanted was to get out of this restaurant.

"We can talk outside or anywhere…" Ava collected herself and corrected her reply. What was she thinking to have agreed just like that? Even though she knew that her sister did know this man, it wasn't enough for her to just trust him like that.

They got up to leave. Ava was happy to get out of there that she didn't see the waiter passing behind her with a tray of drinks. As she turned, she collided into him and the tray fell noisily to the ground. Everywhere was quiet except for the falling of the tray which caught everyone's attention.

Jasper could understand her nervousness and apologized to the waiter who told them that wasn't a problem. He also tipped him off some bills. Maxwell didn't see her face although Jasper has seen them already.

"Thanks. I'll get back to your boss with this." Maxwell replied as they got up to leave. On turning, Maxwell saw a familiar face like that of Ava's going down the parking lot.

"No…this can't be happening." He thought within his mind.

"What if she is the one and this isn't my imagination?" He continued to battle within himself.

Maxwell remembered Jasper calling the name Ava earlier that day. He tilted his neck sideways a bit towards where Jasper was standing.

He left without saying a word.

That same evening, Maxwell couldn't stop thinking about Ava. He got into bed early to sleep and keep his mind off.

Maxwell closed his eyes not long ago only for him to see Ava in his dream, smiling sweetly at him. The kiss scenario also appeared fresh in his memory as though it was happening for the second time again.

Ava got home late that night.

"Hey honey, how did it go?" Julie asked Ava as she got home.

"My legs are hurting. It went well only that I saw that….wait, were you aware that Jssper was going to be there? Did you and Jason planned all that?" Ava asked her sister with suspicion in her voice.

"Jasper was there? Why? What was he doing there? I'm sure that boy can't afford the money to go to such a place so what was he doing there? Or is he seeing some sort of wealthy lady?" Julie threw out all her questions and curiousity at her younger sister.

"So are you telling me that you didn't know about all these?" Ava asked her.

"Well I'm just hearing that. But hope he didn't ruin your date for you?" Julie asked concerned.

"He didn't. Well actually he did because I felt uncomfortable sitted there and Jason suggested we leave the place." Ava replied her sister.

"Gosh…so where did you guys go to?"

"The beach…we chatted over ice cream." Ava replied.

"That means you had so much fun." Julie said to her sister excitedly.

"Yeah…kind of."

"So what's he like? Do you like him?" Julie asked her sister.

"Yeah…he's sort of a nice guy."

"That's good to hear. Does he know that Jasper is your ex?"

"He doesn't. He didn't see us together so he doesn't know." Ava said toi her sister. She fekt slightly irritated talking about Jasper.

"Well I guess you need to move on now. You have a man in your life and won't be needing Jasper anymore. I guess that will ease off thoughts about him." Julie told her sister in a reassuring voice.

"Yeah…but he saw me with Jason…are you sure he won't want to get back?" Ava asked her sister.

"How do you mean?"

"Never mind. Are you cooking?" Ava asked as she perceived the aroma of food coming from the kitchen.

"Yeah. Are you hungry?" Julie asked her.

"Not really…but I want a taste of what's coming from the kitchen."

"Ah…I didn't put your share in it. I believed you'll be full from your date or you didn't eat anything?" Julie asked.

"No I did. I'll be in the room. Let me shower." Ava replied as she left for the room while Julie went to check on her food in the kitchen.

After two days, Maxwell was seated in his office. He seemed to look harmless this early morning. Eric came in with some files in his hand.

"Good morning sir." He greeted his boss.

"Good morning." Maxwell replied. Eric had a breath if relief that he wasn't mad and was in a good mood. He hesitated for a while which made Maxwell to raise his head and look at him.

"What is it? Any problem?" He asked Eric, his manager.

"Well…I don't know if I should tell you this or not." Eric stammered. He was unsure how the information he wanted to share with Maxwell would make him react as he scratched his head like a kitten.

"What is it?" Maxwell asked with all his attention focused on him.

"You remembered that lady you asked me to search for before you told me not to again." Eric started as he tried to bring up the topic in a good and well presented manner as not to piss him off.

"Yes, what about her?" Maxwell asked, not as if he could collect who Eric was referring to.

"I mean Ava…" Eric mentioned the name in shutters as he checked out to see Maxwell's reaction.

"What about her?" He asked, frowning a bit.

"Well I have something that might interest you about her." Eric replied.

"Let me see it."

"I did a background check on her. Her full name is Ava Smith and she is getting married in seven days." Eric dropped the message.

"What?" Maxwell asked in utter surprise as his brows were raised.
