An Obstinate Will

For the very first time, Xiao Ming could feel the fetus of an inner demon in his heart due to those devastating words Shen Wu had said. He could not help examining himself again to reflect on his previous actions through out the year.

"How could I still remain mortal when even the smallest child in the clan has at least the Spirit Condensation stage cultivation? Is there any risks involved with my cultivation that bars Uncle Xiao to let me cultivate? My physique?... Could it have been complicated and affected my foundation and crippling my spiritual base?..." Xiao Ming asked himself a barrage of questions in his thoughts. He had to rectify this problem once and for all and prove that Shen Wu wrong.

"I don't believe I'll resign to fate and continue living as a mortal. My legends and deeds would never be written off the sands of time. I'll never live a short and unfulfilled life... haha" Xiao Ming roared later on with a satisfactory mocking laughter.

"I might be a mortal today but I surely won't be forever. I swear today by my very existence that I will be one who will defy the heavens. I'm daring to destroy the heavens, level the earth and exhume hell in my fury when I stand at the peak of the universe. Under none will I serve, .... my body?, my soul?, my heart?, my consciousness?... You are bound to be subdued by my indomitable will and fearless spirit. I don't mind suppressing the entire world by my will. I'll definitely plunder the lives of my enemies and secure my loved ones dearly" Xiao Ming recited with a heaven defying intent. His mind and soul shook slightly before coming to a calm. Their short buzz represented their submission to Xiao Ming's will. Presently, Xiao Ming felt relieved and cool headed as he had finally extinguished the heart demon before it could form.

SWOOSH!

The clouds were turning darker by each passing second turning the broad day light into night darkness in few breaths. The clouds were violently twisting and the earth followed with a violent tug as though it was about to quake. Xiao Ming smiled at the outcome his previous 'blunder'. He was a bit surprised that the retribution had struck, it seemed it had been waiting for him all along to make the declaration.

Soon, a cluster of thunderbolts emerged and wriggled like dragons ready to pounce over and devour that blabbering kid. The heavens were furious and the earth could not hide her killing intent as she trembled nonstop within Xiao Ming's spatial area. They were angered that someone dared to threaten their might and existence, it seemed both will crush this creature and rid of his defiance to them.

Xiao Ming seemed calm even when facing this crisis that could claim his life within a breath. However, a pandemonium had occurred in Moon Drifting Tower as all were alarmed at the sight of the dark clouds.

Shen Wu and Demi Immortal Xuan were chatting casually on the dao in a room. This was a VIP reserved room in the Blue Heaven Inn. The two could definitely afford this luxury since they were special powers from Clear Water City and could hardly run out of resources.

"Hmm! Something isn't right!" Demi Immortal Xuan reacted first as he perceived the darkened clouds and he could not help but feel a chill down his spine. It was a terrific sight to behold. Shen Wu noticed this as well and her expression twisted beyond recognition.

"Martial Uncle Xuan, which cultivator in this crappy area dared to provoke the Heavenly Tribulation like this." Shen Wu could not help but ask worriedly. Normally, when people were close to triggering their tribulation, they would usually relocate to desolate places. This way, they could attempt the tribulation without threatening the lives of others. It was strange that one would trigger their tribulation in a town filled with mortals as this.

"This isn't a Heavenly Tribulation triggered by one's Immortal Ascension. It is even more terrifying than that, it's a Divine Retribution attracted by one's defiance to the heavens through his wills. People who could survive this end up with solid and unyielding wills and it also births a person's potential exponentially. But could there truly be someone terrifying to attract Divine Retribution in this crappy region." Demi Immortal Xuan explained with a grave expression. Towards the ending, he could not guess who must have been this terrifying to do this.

Finally, he remembered the figure of a white robed youth he had met today who was stubborn enough to ignore the combined pressure field he had inducted.

"Could he be the one?" Demi Immortal Xuan asked solemnly in soliloquy.

At other locations within the Moon Drifting Tower, there was panic from the helpless mortals who had scattered into their various dwellings.

"What's going on?" a gray robed man was the first to discover the weird clouds. He looked up to inspect but he immediately turned his face away with a terrified expression. The shock in his eyes were more than enough to let them run. The apocalyptic clouds could truly scare someone like him to death with just a single look.

"Run! This is a disaster" a black robed scholar shouted in panic and evidently stunned the gray robed man to his senses. The scholar quickly gathered a few persons around him to his house.

BAAM!

The doors were slammed with a bang as though they were never to open again. This sight was terrifying and could only put others in distress with little nervous responses. following the scholar's actions, a similar activity happened in several residences. Not long after, the streets of Moon Drifting Tower became desolate.

The source of this entire calamity at the Yuanyun Earth Mountain was the most threatening scene. However, that tiny figure seemed unmoving as he stood with a broad smile facing the roaring clouds like a true emperor. Nothing could shake his unyielding will.
