2 Chapter 2: 6 years later

It's been 6 years since my reincarnation. If you want to know what happened in these 6 years, I can only describe its experiences in one word: "boring".

While I met some children of my age, it looks like my soul age makes it difficult to integrate with the peers of my age. This becomes better after we become 5 years old as I can understand a 'little' of their speeches.

Anyway, during these 6 years, I studied the Japanese language for a whole year to a satisfactory level if I have to say. Although, it is obviously not enough as all the words that I learn are not complicated enough since I am in a rural place where words such as 'entrepreneur', 'download', or even 'Lagrange point' are not spoken at all.

Right! You hear it. There is no internet in this place or possibly the internet is not yet popularised enough to reach even a village in this period. After all, this is still 2002, an era where the only way to access the internet is through a computer that is unaffordable for many people.

Perhaps, this is the reason why smartphones are so popular. With it, you can access the internet anywhere and anytime. The whole internet which is the cumulation of human civilization can be contained inside a person's pocket.

Without the internet, comes another problem. The problem is that I can't learn any advanced knowledge from my best friend such as Google, Wikipedia, and Youtube. So in these 6 years, I only learn until high school subjects at most which come from my parents' old books and hence the curriculum is also considered to be out of date.

Don't think that it is amazing, after all, I only review what I already learn and do not learn anything new in this subject. Although compared to normal humans it is considered a genius, it is considered to be trash compared to other reincarnator.

So in order to not waste my time, I also develop extra-human abilities. This is not something unscientific like psychokinesis or mind-reading but rather extra mind abilities that humans are actually able to train.

One of them is my self-created ability that I called [Mind Notes]. In normal daily life, we subconsciously use this ability to note something we will do later like a shopping list, to-do list, etc. With this as a basis, I improve further on this aspect.

This ability can be trained just by imagining a note or a piece of paper. Yes! As simple as that! However, there is a twist in order to master and train it. The trick is to calculate a number.

Unlike mental calculation, we don't imagine it like remembering the result but focus on the aspect of writing and storing information in the paper. With calculation, we can focus our brain to imagine it as doing calculations on a piece of paper.

At the start, just calculate 2 digits multiplied by 2 digit number. Then, continue to scale up by calculating 3 digit multiplication, 4 digits, 5 digits, and so on… With this, our brain can visualize the paper just like paper notes in reality.

This is a very useful ability as with this ability, it can be said to be a photographic memory. With this ability, you can use the notes for anything from design, calculation, or even cheating in exams. (although if you have this ability, you don't really need to cheat).

The downside is of course as everyone knows it, time. It's not like anyone has the time to train this ability. In fact, I only theorized this ability in my past life and am unable to train it as I don't have the time to do it.

But, this new life gives me a chance to get this ability. I even trained it to the next 2 levels [Mind Books] and [Mind bookshelf] which can be easily known from this unoriginal name. At the current level of my ability, it's like I have a whole library in my mind. Although currently I only have several books which come from my parents.

However, this is not the limit of this ability! If my conjecture is correct, the next level will be [Mind Libraries] while there is a hypothesized ability I called [Mind Computer]. At this level, it is just like a normal computer where I can store, sort, and calculate any data in my mind. I can even make a graph, plot, predictions, or even simulations test.

But, after all, that is just a theory, a theory that I'm not even sure is possible. After all, the human mind is not as powerful as a computer in terms of computing and memory storage. Unless you have a superpower or with the help of brain enhancement drugs like CPH4 or NZT-48 in those sci-fi movies.

Besides the new ability that I discovered, I am finally at the age suitable to start school. Yes! No kindergarten as my family can only afford my school to start at primary schools. But It doesn't matter as long as I am able to show a bit of my talent and try to access the internet at school which I might also not in order to get more knowledge.

Anyway, even if I am unable to access the internet, I can still rob the library of their knowledge (not literally robbing the books). With my photographic memory, I can copy the book to my [Mind Bookshelf] and enrich my collection.

"Ken-chan, are you ready to go to school?" While I am thinking and eating my breakfast, my Mom interrupts my thought process with her call.

"Yea, Kaa-chan. I will finish my breakfast in a minute!" I replied back as I finished my humble breakfast of rice, fried egg, and some vegetables from the farm.

Speaking of farms, I also help my parents in the field when I am not busy (which is practically every day). Besides training my body to be healthy with farming, I also train my parallel thoughts by using [Mind Notes] while farming (calculating multiplication while farming) which achieve small success in these 6 years. Despite making me exhausted physically and mentally, I can't improve this ability as well as my [Mind Notes] ability.

While I can write and use both of my hands ambidextrously as I trained it since I was a child, a feat impossible for a grown-up to train. I can only separate my thought process to a maximum of three while more will make a burden to my brain. So those superpower-like abilities like splitting our thoughts into hundreds or thousands are not possible.

Other reasons might be because I am a male as I hear that females are more talented in parallel thinking while males are more talented in focused thinking which is the reason I can develop my [Mind notes] abilities to this degree.

As I finished my meal, I washed my plate and came to the front door.

"I am ready Kaa-chan!" I tell my mom that has been waiting for me while doing her side job which is sewing.

"Good, today is your first day of school. So make sure you can make a lot of friends there ok!"

"Yes, Kaa-chan!"

With that, we started walking toward my first school as I wondered about my future.
