1 001 Rain Shower

At 4 pm, the sky was covered in a light gray hue, scattered with several ink-black clouds.

It was about to rain.

Olivia Taylor looked up at the sky and quickened her pace. She wanted to get home quickly and buy his favorite sword fish ravioli from the street stall before it closed for the day.

'Bang! - a loud explosion accompanied by a strong smell of gunpowder suddenly filled the air around her.

Smoke grenades spread around, obscuring her vision. Several men wearing black uniforms emerged from behind a shipping container near the lab. They all carried Colt M2000 pistols around their waists, clearly targeting her.

Olivia narrowed her eyes and smirked, shaking the medium-sized test tube containing the bright blue liquid in her hand. "Are you here for this?"

The leader of the group nodded. "Hand over the test tube, and we'll let you go."

"Didn't your master tell you not to fire your guns around here?" Olivia spoke slowly, her voice soft and gentle, yet laced with sarcasm. "There are thousands of chemical drugs around here; one spark could set them all off. It seems you want me to join you in the afterlife!"

The men in uniforms looked at each other and nodded. They quickly changed their plan, emptying the bullets from their guns and equipping various cold weapons. They quickly lunged towards her.

The blades glinted menacingly under the dim light. Olivia evaded their attacks with nimble side flips, swiftly and efficiently taking them all down using only a small switchblade.

Olivia glanced at the intact test tube in her windbreaker pocket, about to leave the scene, when she heard the sound of a knife cutting through the air.

She tried to dodge, but she was still grazed by the blade. The fresh smell of blood mixed with the smell of smoke; her left arm had a five-centimeter-long gash. It wasn't long, but it was deep.

Her face turned cold, and she pursed her lips, expressing her displeasure. "Courting death!"

'Crack!' - The distinct sound of a broken bone was especially pleasing amongst the wailing. Olivia twisted the man's knife-wielding hand behind his back and stabbed his thigh with a knife.

Just as she was feeling unsatisfied and wanted to stab him a few more times, raindrops fell from the sky, landing on her forehead.

She furrowed her brow, kicked the man away, and left quickly.

This sort of thing happened every ten days or so. She was the country's top pharmacist, and those who came her way were either after the formulation of the medicine she held in her hands, the experimental prototypes, or even her.

After three days of sulking, raindrops finally drizzled down. Olivia sprinted all the way and managed to buy a bowl of sword fish ravioli just before the stall at the crossroad closed.

Her arm had been slashed, but she was in a good mood, because she was about to see her husband, Tobias Perkins. They hadn't seen each other for nearly half a month, as he was often away on business for the company and she worked day and night on her experiments.

She picked up the takeout box, getting ready to take out her key to open the door, when she saw a pair of dark red high heels at the main gate.

All her joy and anticipation vanished in an instant, the smile rolling away from her lips.

She never wore high heels, and this was the third time she had seen a different pair of high heels at her doorstep. She could almost hear the laughter of a woman coming from the bedroom, followed by his deep response.

The light rain turned into heavy rain, soaking through her thin windbreaker, staining the area around her wound on her left arm a hazy red.

Separated by a single door, inside was a world of love and tenderness, while outside was the cold and silence of a torrential downpour.
