Meanwhile, Nick, stuck in a meeting, kept glancing at his watch. He couldn't shake the feeling that Amelia might need help.
"You worried about your wife?" Mr. Zhao asked.
"She called earlier, but I told her to sleep first and not wait up," Nick replied flatly. But before Amelia called, Nick noticed twenty missed calls from Aiden. Was Amelia in trouble?
"Is she pregnant? If she is, don't leave her alone," Mr. Zhao said. "Don't let anything bad happen. Losing a first baby would traumatize her."
"Dad, she's not pregnant," Nick retorted. He wanted the meeting to end quickly, but his mind was elsewhere.
"Why do you say that like you're not trying to get her pregnant?" Mr. Zhao stared sharply, scrutinizing his son. "Don't tell me you're not touching your wife."
Nick swallowed hard, hiding his fear. "I didn't say that."
