SHE HAS BLOOD CANCER
Jessica's POV
"Mum I'm home, mum" I yelled walking around our little apartment.
"I wonder where she went" I murmured and just then I heard a knock on the front door.
"That must be Mum" I went to open the door only to find our neighbour standing there looking so restless.
"Mrs Gracie, I hope there's no problem?"
"Jessy, it's your mother sh... she just, I mean she..."
stop stuttering and just tell me what the hell happen to my mother " I yelled feeling frustrated with her silly attitude.
"She collapsed on her way back from the supermarket and she's been rushed to the hospital just across the str...." I rushed out of the house not waiting for her to finish talking.
"My mother oh my God how? She never told me she was sick and she's been fine all this while" I kept murmuring as I ran heading towards the hospital it was just across the street but right now it seems like it was a long distance.....

I got into the hospital and rushed towards the receptionist.
"Good day ma please my mother was rushed in here a while ago Mrs Anastasia Peter," I said all in one breath.
"Oh just walk down there and turn to your left ward 056" she explained and I immediately started heading towards that direction in no time I arrived at the ward just to see my mother laying unconscious on the bed with the doctors examining her and my little brother just sat there crying.
I quickly rushed to the doctors and asked them what the problem with my mother was.
"Doctor can you please tell me what is wrong with my mother"
"And who are you young lady" and that made me almost run mad.
"Didn't you hear me clearly when I said she's my mum and that makes me her daughter"
"I'm so sorry miss I was just surprised by your sudden entry that's it" he tried explaining himself but I cut him off
"What is the matter with my mum doctor she has been fine since and she looked okay this morning before I left the house," I asked him worry evident in my voice.
"Can you come with me to my office there are some papers you have to sign before we start talking about your mother's health condition" he informed and that got me feeling really scared but I tried my best to stay strong and believe that it was just a minor issue. Besides, I can't break down in front of my little bro.

Writer's POV
Jessica got to the doctor's office and he asked her to sit down which she did without any complaints. He could see just how worried she was and from her body language, this woman means the world to her.
The doctor handed some files to her and asked her to sign them as proof of the relationship she shares with the patient.
She signed the papers and asked him to please tell her what the problem was and if it was something serious.
"Errrhemm, Miss Jessica from what we observed today your mother has not informed you of her ailment. I was hoping you would be aware but seeing that you are clueless about your mother's health, I'll just go straight to the point I need you to stay strong for yourself and your brother." He informed after clearing his throat.
Jessica's POV
"Wait a minute, what do you mean by I'm clueless about mother's health? You mean my mum has been coming here for treatment?" I asked feeling hurt about the fact that my mum has been sick and she refused to tell me about it.
"Well you see, your mother only came here twice the first time she came for a check and that's when we found out she was sick. The second time she was here I told her to stay back for treatment and more observation but she refused"
"Doctor, what exactly is this sickness you're talking about?" I became impatient and scared at the same time. The last time I felt this fear was when my dad had that accident.
"Your mother has cancer, bone blood cancer and it's spreading fast we don't know if she will be able to survive this. She needs surgery and it needs to be done as soon as possible."
Immediately I heard those words from the doctor I felt like everything around me stopped and that the world was coming to an end. I was at loss for words, I couldn't help but blame myself for everything.
If only I had paid more attention to my mum's health and stopped her from doing those hard jobs just for us to survive. I should have taken proper care of my mum but I was too busy with that bastard James and I forgot about my mother. Now she's sick and the stupid James was only playing me.
"Doctor, there has to be a way out right? My mum can't die there must be something we can do to save her right? Please tell me doctor you can save her, tell me there's a solution" I cried. I couldn't hold back the tears anymore.
"Calm down Miss Jessica, there's only one solution but it's quite expensive"
"Just tell me already what is it I'll find a way to get the money" I assured
"She needs a bone marrow transplant and the surgery needs to be carried out as soon as possible"
"That's not a problem doctor, you can use me I'll be the donor," I said in a hurry but he just smiled and said
"I'm sorry Miss Jessica but it doesn't work that way. You look so young and not to mention you don't even look strong enough to carry out such surgery"
"So how do we find a donor?" I asked
"We need money for that miss, no one will be willing to donate their bone marrow for free you know and we need money for the surgery too"
"How much are we talking about doctor?"
"You have to prepare 1 million dollars so we can start looking for a donor"
"Oh my bloody Jesus, where do you expect me to get that money from. Please doctor do something, look my mother and I don't have that kind of money with us. I work at a small restaurant just two miles from here. I don't have 1 million dollars" I pleaded
"I'm sorry we can't do anything until you bring the money and your mother doesn't have much time unless you want us to discharge her so you can take her with you"
"No please I'll find the money somehow but please start treating her while I get the money"
"Madam you'll have to pay a deposit of five hundred thousand dollars first so we can commence her treatment"
"I have twenty-five thousand dollars for now, that is my life-saving doctor can't I deposit that first please doctor, please" I look so desperate now I can't remember the last time I begged someone like this but it's all for my mum
"Fine, but you have three weeks to bring the rest of the money or your mother would be discharged from here, okay?"
"Sure thank you, doctor, I'll go get the money right now I'll be back" I ran out of the hospital like someone whose pants are on fire. I was sweating profusely heading to the bank. " My life's savings, I kept that for Jeremy's school. How do I get the rest of the money for the surgery? My mom can't die, she means the world to me and I'll do anything just to save her." this was what kept ringing in my mind as I kept running.
