KEVIN

I thought carefully about the dream I had. It remains very unclear why I happen to be drowning in my own blood. Am I being threatened by the King? or perhaps a warning not to fail. I told no one and kept it to myself. I will do what I need to do.

Jacob Stark. My first target. Nightfall arrived quickly, just as I wanted and I stepped out to begin my mission. I strolled casually as I journeyed to Jacob's house. There was no need to rush. Darkness is my place and the night is my comfort zone, where I feel and feed on the fear of every single person around me.

I arrived finally and simultaneously, the last light in the house went off. His room. I strolled gently as I approached the front door. It was locked. I paused for a moment and had my hand settle gently on the handle and slowly it opened. The night breeze flowed in swiftly and the curtains danced happily to receive them. That was less of my concern. I walked slowly and confidently as I reached his room, opening the door, and there he was, awaiting my arrival. I walked closer to him and without further thought, I charged the knife into him and watched as his blood filled the bed. I left knowing the first stage of Veronica's downfall had begun.

VERONICA

I woke up contended and ready to start a new day. I had received a letter from a popular bank in town to resume as the managing accountant. I was so full of joy and filled in my information immediately. I was given an interview date in three days and that was enough for me to prepare. I looked into the mirror in my bathroom and smiled as I remembered Kevin's smile. I was going to see him today and spend some time with him. After all, it was His request to know me.

I wore white jeans with a blue top that read veronica secrets and black sneakers. With my hair in a ponytail, I stepped out and knocked on his door almost immediately.

The door opened and He saw me. Again, he had an expressionless face and I was curious but yet fascinated. Just as he desired to know more about me, I desired the same. I wanted to understand him and know who he really is. And silently, I realized I was drawn to him.

KEVIN

Her soft brown eyes matched well with her blonde hair. She had long legs, which were vivid through her white trousers. She had an oval-shaped head and as she smiled it gave a clean curve under her cheekbones. She had a perfect structure. Yet again, Her aura was strong enough to almost pull me in like a magnetic force. She had so much joy. I am not doing enough.

"Hi" She smiled

"Hello" I played along. I gestured into where I lived for her to come in and she did not hesitate.

She looked around and carefully noticed how almost empty my place was. Apart from the sofa and a mini coffee table in the middle, there was nothing else. Behind was the kitchen, where the kitchen island was in between the cupboards and the gas cooker.

"Wow, your place is...you don't decorate much" She chuckled sheepishly. She couldn't hide her emotions

"I won't be here for long, so there would be no need for me to have a lot of furniture," I said

"Oh...you're going to leave soon?" She asked disappointed at my response

"Yes...after I am done with my work here" I said

"Oh. And how long is your work going to take?" She asked

"I don't know. It depends on a lot of circumstances but I intend to finish as soon as possible." I said

"Oh wow. That's rather disappointing" she confessed "I finally thought that I won't be alone on this floor again" She added

"Well...I am around for now" I said as I walked to sit already tired of standing.

"So Kevin, what do you like to do for fun. Because we are definitely not staying here" She giggled as she strolled to sit beside me

Fun? What does that mean? I only do according to what the King says.

"You don't have anything you do for fun?" She furthered

"No. I don't have anything I do for fun" I said as I laid back

She paused and was even more disappointed. What was she expecting?

"Would you like to have something to do for fun?" She suggested

I turned my head to look at her and questioned her guts. Why is she offering this to me?

"Why? I don't think I would be interested." I concluded.

"Oh, you will be." She assured. "After all, you did say you want to get to know me" she added

"Yes I said so," I said

"So I will practically show you who I am" She got up excitedly and took my hand pulling me up from the sofa.

Her touch. I withdrew my hand quickly and watched her hand curiously. It burned and yet soothing. A feeling I have never felt before. What could this be? She's just human

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you" She redressed

"It's okay. I..I..was just surprised." I lied

VERONICA

Kevin was strange and interesting at the same time. I try to understand him but I have no answer. Everything about him had no expression of life. I am going to add some life to him and bring out the best of him. I motivated myself. Had he ever been with a woman? I doubt so. I might as well be his first. This was going to be very interesting for me. I thought to myself.
