5 Chapter 5: A Gift

(PoV Haruki)

Those damn villains!! They killed Mom and Dad! DAMNIT! Who would DO THIS AND WHY!?

My mind raced for an answer but I was feeling light-headed, I feel like passing out. I look towards my brother also looked like he was about to pass out, but luckily we managed to get to the surface in time and took a large breath while coughing out bits of water that managed to enter our lungs.

But that wasn't the end yet, The villains on the surface were apprehended by the heroes who were called in. Aunt Elly flew up on the bridge by continuously repelling the air, since her quirk was boosted by mother's she could now easily fly unlike when she was working as a hero she could only barely float and that is when she concentrates

We caught the attention of the heroes who quickly rushed towards us, the moment we landed on the rainbow bridge Aunt Elly fell unconscious, my grandmother also fell as the stress got to her, and my brother who has been breathing pretty heavily. I immediately checked his condition as my instincts told me to do so, and luckily I did. He was poisoned by that villain earlier! I could only stare at my remaining family, and I start to remember everything that happened ever since I reincarnated.

(3rd PoV)

The heroes arrived at the child's side who was sitting— staring to the fallen people who seems to be his family members.

The heroes who specialized in speed picked everyone in the family up and rushed them to the ambulance nearby to get them treated immediately as they required immediate treatment

The four was then rushed to the hospital with Dr. Sasaki over seeing the operation. Hours passed and Dr. Sasaki managed to stabilized the two adults, Haruki is experiencing a mild fever but he is mostly fine, however for Nikko who has been poisoned is having a hard time. The poison wasn't just any ordinary poison as it adapts to any antidote given to cure Nikko

When Haruki heard of this, he rushed to his brother's side, his body is currently weak as his fever is still there. He cursed to the one that did this to his family and want to personally murder them slowly, but it isn't the time for that. His mind raced for an answer to save his brother but still of no use

"A-aniki... It hurts... where's ...Mom and... Dad?" Nikko's voice was suddenly heard by Haruki, the latter gritted his teeth in frustration, anger, helplessness, and sadness. He hated this feeling a lot, he wondered "what's this reincarnation all for..." An Idea popped out and also suspicions, but threw away the latter as it was not the time for it

"Don't worry, brother. They're fine! And I have already found a way to help you," he said with a smile, hiding his bitterness to try to cheer Nikko up. Nikko looked into his big brother's eyes, only to feel useless. He couldn't help but feel saddened by always relying on Haruki and the others. Due to the recent events that had forced him to mature, he had come to the realization of how the world works and how powerless and helpless he was. He was being protected by everyone else, but he couldn't do the same for others.

"... You're... Always like... that Aniki" his voice was pained "I am... always. protected... by everyone... even dad... like me... could still do something... unlike me..." he was a burden when the villains attacked them. He wasn't brave like his brother, smart, nor a genius like him, He could only admire his brother from below as Haruki stood above him while being showered by praises.

Haruki knew what his little brother meant, as he could see Nikko is feeling like an outcast even inside their cheerful family.

Haruki gave a gentle and reassuring smile to Nikko before saying, "It's okay to be powerless. It's okay to be protected. Even I could do nothing but be a burden during that incident. But being powerless proves that you can be even better than before. Strive to also protect them. Remember, protecting you also means that they firmly believe you are worth it, so..."

Nikko listened in silence as he heard his brother's words. "So take pride in it, and prove to yourself that you are worth it!"

Haruki's words made Nikko's eyes widen, and he was left speechless. He couldn't help but admire his brother all over again.

Haruki confirmed his brother's resolve and slowly walked away. He knew that this was too much for a 4 year old kid to experience first hand of what death is.

Haruki got back on his bed and began working on another idea, quickly abandoning the original one upon seeing that Nikko was on the verge of depression.

"I will definitely make them pay" he said with conviction

—3 Days Later— (10:26 A.M)

A bed was stained with blood as a young skinny boy kept coughing it out. The nurses and Dr. Sasaki worked harder than their best to keep the boy alive. Elly, who had just recovered, sat beside Nikko and tightly held his hand to reassure him that everything would be alright. The thought of everyone she loved slowly dying in front of her scared her. She had already witnessed her father's death, her brother's and his wife, and now one of her nieces was in danger

*BANG*

The door bursts open, and the one responsible for was a boy with similar appearance of Nikko, rushed to his side seemingly ignoring the complaints of the nurses who were concentrating.

"You aren't dying on me yet, brother!" he said, full of confidence. He had finally created a quirk that could transfer other quirks, putting his right hand on Nikko's shoulder. A warm, golden-lava-like energy and arcs of yellow electricity circled the two. Nikko started to feel some kind of energy within him, giving him a warm and soothing feeling. He could feel his body slowly getting stronger and stronger, and the poison he had gotten before had completely disappeared. However, the same could not be said for Haruki. He felt as if his body was being cut in half while being burned alive.

The onlookers, who were professionals, tried to stop Haruki from doing anything drastic. Seeing a small child without any medical knowledge attempting to intervene with their patient not only endangered Nikko but could also get them in trouble.

Nikko's eyes widened as he felt the energy was resonating with him, he looked towards Haruki and thought to himself 'I-is this Aniki's...'

The scene began to recedes, the others who were looking stunned snapped out. Nikko's skin returned it's color, and his body returned to it's former weight if not weighing more. Elly Immediately gave Nikko a hug, to which the latter's head was engulfed by the former's chest.

Dr. Sasaki looked at Nikko, who seemed healthy now, and had a guess as to what had happened. Suddenly, he heard a cough from his side. He turned and saw Haruki coughing up blood and bleeding from his nose. Dr. Sasaki's heart raced as he rushed over to examine Haruki. He could see the pain in Haruki's eyes as blood continued to trickle down his face.

Everyone turned their gaze towards Haruki as he said, "It hurts more than I thought." With a warm smile, Haruki turned his gaze to his little brother and said, "That's my gift to you," before he lost consciousness.

'I better have something in return for giving you 60% of my quirk factor Nikko' was his final thoughts

During those 3 days, Haruki was working on optimizing (Sunshine) in order to use fewer charges. The quirk factor of (Sunshine) became so compact that not a single blank space was wasted upon creation. Haruki also "coded" the quirk factor to regenerate itself with time. So when his quirk factor is split in half, the two halves will restore themselves, similar to how a flatworm can regenerate into two when cut in half.
