As Jonathan turned around, he could see Rebecca, who was in perfect condition. He wanted to say something, but the words wouldn't come out simply because he didn't know her well enough to consider themselves friends.

"It seems you're okay. Didn't you think it was appropriate to let us know you were leaving this place after you left?" Jonathan wasn't angry, as she was fine, but he couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if he hadn't run into Jill and the others.

"I heard a scream. I wanted to warn you, but you were resting, so..." Rebecca didn't know exactly what to say. She didn't feel the need to apologize since, from her perspective, she hadn't done anything wrong. Nevertheless, she felt she should, so she simply said, "I'm sorry; I didn't think it would take me that long."

But right at that moment, gunshots echoed in the distance.

"Could it be Barry?" Rebecca asked, a bit pensive.

"Maybe. We should take a look." Jill hurriedly ran through the hallways, passing countless rooms where zombies had been killed by Jonathan and Rebecca, who followed behind.

But when they saw Jill stop, everyone was surprised to see Wesker.

"Wesker?"

This was also the first time Jonathan had seen this guy, the most popular villain in Resident Evil and undoubtedly an iconic figure in this world.

Wesker heard the voice, turned around, and was a bit surprised to see Jill. "Jill? You're still alive!"

Jonathan couldn't really tell if he was concerned for Jill or genuinely surprised that she was still alive.

Obviously, Jill didn't realize that the captain in front of her was the mastermind behind many of the things that had happened in this place, not to mention being involved in everything.

"Who is he?" Wesker looked at Jonathan beside Rebecca and asked in a strange tone.

Jonathan handed the weapons backpack to Rebecca, and with a calm and somewhat cold expression, he introduced himself, "My name is Jonathan Hale. I am a chief investigator who until recently referred to this place to train Umbrella Corporation investigators."

Wesker felt extremely confused. Why was Rebecca appearing with this investigator when she should be at the Umbrella Training Center? He had seen Jonathan on the security cameras not long ago, so after sending the Tyrant, he believed they should have died.

But it seemed he had misjudged the people in the Training Center, and this would be his mistake, something he needed to rectify soon so that the problems started being crossed off his list of annoyances.

Still, even if Wesker was extremely annoyed by these anomalies, his expression remained the same, and he told Jill, "I'm sorry for splitting from the group. A strange monster appeared, so I needed to escape as soon as possible to prevent more injuries."

"No problem, Captain. Fortunately, you're safe."

Speaking of which, Wesker paused and said in a low voice, "Have you noticed? Barry is a bit strange..."

Meanwhile, Jill, who heard this question, nodded and said, "Yes, he's been acting a bit strange..."

But she wasn't the only one selected; another friend who was now dead had also been chosen. If the situation was critical, it was a bit absurd that she was Wesker's first choice.

At this point, Wesker turned his head and said, "In any case, our first priority is to get out of here."

"I agree."

After finishing speaking, Wesker was about to leave when suddenly he turned around and said, "I haven't been able to enter those locked rooms as they require a special method hidden in the mansion..."

Jill understood the meaning behind his words, "Understood, I'll go back to look for a subtle way to open those doors."

Wesker nodded and said, "Then it depends on you."

After finishing speaking, Wesker walked away, claiming he would continue investigating.

Watching Wesker's back as he walked away, Jonathan abruptly said, "Didn't you find anything suspicious about Wesker?"

"Eh?" Jill looked at him, a bit perplexed.

"Hmm..." Jonathan, now removing the bloodied bandages, shook his head and said, "He didn't have time to meet with Barry since they entered the mansion. "Are you trying to say that Wesker is the strange one?" Rebecca asked, a bit confused, not understanding how Jonathan had come to that conclusion.

"These weapons create beings like the B.O.Ws, non-human entities designed to exterminate humans in open combat zones. When I tried to contradict the chief researcher, he sent me to this place where absolutely no one would want to work due to its desolate location."

After saying that, Jonathan pointed, "Here, a much stronger, aggressive, and contagious virus is being researched... But the research conducted in this place is of interest to other people. I dare say that even my current partner is only with me because of my transfer to this place. Therefore, anyone aware of what is happening here would be interested in stealing the research."

"Wesker should know this place very well..." Rebecca murmured as she thought about everything that had happened so far.

Jonathan looked at Jill and pointed, "I'm not expecting you to understand, but anyone would want to have the research from this place to later sell it. If I were you, the one I wouldn't trust is your captain..."

Jill looked at Jonathan, and in a way, he was right. She began to be a bit suspicious of everyone here, away from Jonathan and Rebecca.
