64 A madman's plan

"So I guess we will proceed to move our troops from Strong Hammer Military Base to the Silent Wind Military Base. Although this will be a military mission, I expect a proper welcome when all my soldiers arrive. Anglius. After all, they will protect your home and all its good people."

General Omar spoke with a smile; even now, he still had a self-righteous expression.

No matter how much General Anglius hated it, he needed the forces of Strong Hammer Military Base and Orion's angels. Otherwise, he would have to escape with his soldiers and leave all the civilians Vlad brought from Good Side Town to their luck.

If General Anglius wanted to protect all these men, women, and children and not let them become food for the demons, he would have to swallow his pride and accept the help of the bastards who brought the problem to his home.

"I will..."

"Please, wait outside. I have some points I need to discuss with General Anglius in private."

Before General Anglius could finish his sentence, Vlad spoke, his voice calm yet firm. He made it clear it was not a petition and demanded the duo leave the room.

General Omar was surprised by the young man's sudden interruption. While he would have backed off before due to this one's power, now he showed rage and disdain.

"Hmph, we are going to save you and the entire Silent Wind Military Base from certain doom, yet you speak to us like this. Who do you think you are to command me!?"

Those words were full of might, or so General Omar thought, yet the way Vlad was looking at him was the same way you would look at a buffoon.

"Anglius, you should learn to discipline your man!"

General Omar saw that his words did not have an effect on Vlad, so he wanted to pressure General Anglius, but the middle-aged man only looked at him with coldness.

"Leave. We have private points to discuss."

General Omar was shocked by General Anglius's calm, coldness. Just as he was about to continue barking, he saw how Orion turned around and left the room without saying a word. After a moment, he glanced at the duo before sneering as he turned around.

'Let's see if you are so cocky once my men take control of this place.'

A poisonous smile appeared on General Omar's face as that thought crossed his mind, and he left the room.

General Anglius glanced at the old man for a moment before releasing a deep sigh. He turned toward Vlad and was about to speak when he saw how the young man had gathered a small amount of Force in his right hand. The energy began to vibrate, releasing a strange humming sound.

Vlad noticed the confusion in General Anglius's face, and he just smiled.

"A small trick but useful to avoid unwanted people from listening to our conversations."

General Anglius understood that people now had supernatural abilities, and someone with a powerful enough body could develop a sense of hearing that could easily cross walls. The middle-aged man's face slid into a complicated smile as he realized just how much the world had changed, but he did not lose focus and continued with his words.

"What did you want to share with me?"

Vlad stared right into General Anglius's eyes, and with a serious tone, he shared his thoughts.

"There is a path in which we can fight alone."

A sharp light appeared in General Anglius's eyes as he heard those words, but he did not get overly excited. Vlad was undoubtedly extremely powerful and wise, with all sorts of abilities, but that did not mean he was a master strategist.

"You think our current power can face the high demonic horde?"

Vlad saw that General Anglius was testing him but smiled and did not take offense. After all, only a fool would believe in words without proof from someone they have known for less than a month.

"If they continue their path uninterrupted, they will kill us all."

That was an extremely somber and pessimistic forecast, but it made General Anglius smile. Someone who could see the worst-case scenario was someone who could offer true solutions, so he nodded and signaled for the young man to continue.

"However, we could delay them, not much, but long enough to prepare the battlefield and train the people we brought from Good Side Town.

I understand that hastily trained military forces would only bring problems, and they could not make much. However, we could focus on those with talent in the Mage Path and help them advance through cultivation techniques. On their own, their abilities will not be much, but if we use them to take advantage of the terrain, they would have a significant effect."

General Anglius's eyes glowed with a meaningful light as he heard those words, and he could already see all sorts of traps that could be put in place if he had enough Mages at his disposal.

"How do you plan to buy the time we need to implement all that?"

Vlad smiled as he heard that question. He could not allow Orion and her angels to form a foothold in the Silent Wind Military Base, and even though the plan was dangerous, he was determined.

"This place."

General Anglius saw the point Vlad's finger touched on the map, and the next second, his eyes widened as he stared at the young man as if he were a madman.
