BEWITCHED BY THE SCHOOL CHARMER

She embodied sensuality and undeniable charm that no man or woman could deny. Whether they were upright or bent, everyone's gaze was pulled to her. She was the charmer who was appointed and recognized by everyone in the school, whether they were teachers or students. She was that popular. In this charmer's world, there was no such thing as love. Love was a disease that perverted people's minds and led them astray, and she didn't want to live in such a world. But everything changed when he unexpectedly marched into her life, surprising her. Forcing her to break down the barriers she had up for more than two decades. He was the only one who was present. And he wasn't afraid to take what he wanted since he had the means. For him, being in love was a waste of time, and being faithful to one person was not his strong suit. Why bother investing in a single tree when he could own the entire forest? And when he saw her, his life was turned upside down. For him, it was love at first sight. He disliked it at first but eventually came to respect and like it. This sensation was novel to him and seemed unreal. He was completely in love with her, but her defenses were far too high and strong for him to break through. Will this prince charming and playboy from another school be able to captivate and seduce the school charmer? Will she be able to tear down the barriers she had built to allow him entry into her world, or will she continue to keep him at a distance?

CHAPTER 8: THE LIFE OF A CHARMER

When someone sees her. What would come to mind was how lucky this person was.

But was that indeed the truth?

It wasn't the case, especially for her.

She drove her car to a location she was very familiar with and a place that she had been getting used to staying at in the past month. Darica pondered about life as music filled the car that she was very proud to own.

She wasn't born rich and was not rich. Darica was one of those average students that could be seen anywhere. She wasn't lucky at all, nor did she have any special traits about her to make it look otherwise.

She was twenty-three years old and just finished her last semester of her third year at Grandview University. Something that she was very proud of.

She was probably the oldest or one of the oldest students in her class, but that never bothered her. She knew the reason why she went to school and knew that everything else didn't matter to her.

And as for the person that would be so bold to ask her the question of what she was doing instead of going to school at the appropriate age. That person was not yet born. And even if there was, it would take a lot of courage.

She didn't become who she was. Climbed all the way high and occupied that student council position for two years by being a persimmon. Only those that were bold and shameless could do that.

She started living in a foster home when she was twelve years old. And finally got free of that suffocating place when she was eighteen.

It was the most difficult six years of her life. But it was also the most fruitful of them, for she truly learned what was life.

There comes a time when life just humbles you. And that's what life did for her back then.

Did she ever regret everything that she went through during those six years?

Not really. In fact, she was very grateful for everything that had happened to her. For she wouldn't be the person she was right at this very moment.

It is the experiences that build a person to be who he or she is in the present or the future.

But what she really regretted was how cowardly she lived before that. And whenever she thought of how horrible her life was before, she was sent to the foster house. She couldn't help but wonder where that evil woman was.

Was she still alive? Did she remarry and move on? Does she have any kids? What was she doing?

Sometimes these questions plagued her, but whenever she recalls how evil that woman was to her as she grew up, she didn't want to see her again.

But the child and daughter in her couldn't help but be curious. She was indeed in a dilemma, one that wouldn't end until she saw the end of it.

As someone who literally didn't have any relatives at least those that wanted her when she was sent to the foster home years ago, she grew up by herself.

With little help from the government and the corrupt officials at the foster home, it was by grace that she and the others could live while staying in that place.

So, to supplement what was not there, Darica and the other kids from a young age learned how to survive.

And them being kids, it was also difficult to find any suitable work, for the law stipulated that hiring underaged people was a crime.

However, when one was placed in a tough corner, one way or the other, a way would be found.

For her to survive and earn money, especially to move away from the vultures that took everything away from them and left them peanuts. Darica took every single job that could give her money.

As long as she could learn it, muster it, and do it. She was willing to do anything, and that was how she survived.

Some of the horrific things she did back then were so dark that even her friends or the F5 gang didn't even know about them.

Only those that were very close to her knew about that. And she was planning to keep it that way.

And since there wasn't any money to talk about, she was poor and still was up until this very day.

To save money for a brighter future, Darica lived in the worst places, one would ever imagine but that all changed when she found a new way of living that wasn't too costly and very suitable for a person like her who didn't own much.

Renting a place was very expensive. Not only did she have to pay the rent, she also needed to pay utilities, food, transport, and tuition on top of that.

With how low these bosses were paying people in the current days; it was indeed very tough to juggle all that, especially when one was alone.

Darica had once faced such a situation before. And it was the greatest reason why she went to university late and also took on a course that her past peers were greatly surprised to hear about.

For her to save money for tuition, she had started living in a basement room with poor lighting and bad living conditions.

It was truly unbearable for her back then, but for her future; she knew that she needed to sacrifice.

Working several part-time jobs without rest and only a few hours of rest, she persevered and kept on moving ahead.

Just before she enrolled in school, Darica was introduced to a new way of living. People called it van life, others lived in what they called tiny homes, and these homes were made of several materials.

Some of the homes were naturally built like normal houses but just tiny. For example, the whole house would be 6m*8m. And this tiny home would have everything, at least that was essential in daily living.

Others lived in container houses, vans, buses, camping tents, cabins, or treehouses.

What was important was how these houses were all small, affordable, and didn't require too many things. Because one would be living tiny, there was no need for a person to buy a lot of things. Like how one would be forced to purchase all sorts of things simply because the person was living in a big house.

When she heard about this kind of life, she was instantly interested and decided to try it out.

That was when her life changed slightly better for, she managed to save a lot of money back then. And due to that, she was able to do important things that she was still very proud of to this very day.

A new day, a new chapter.
