33 CHAPTER 32: HIS CONCESSION

Darica looked at the young man driving her back home with astonishment and confusion. She couldn't help but wonder how it all came down to that in the first place.

Honestly, being the person she was, Darica wasn't the kind that would admit her mistakes easily. It was her stubbornness from a young age that made her that way.

She always felt that as long as she was right, then the one who did wrong should apologize.

As for conceding for the sake of harmony, that didn't work for her at all. The one that gets bothered first should bounce and it won't be her.

The second she does that, the weaker she will show others. And there was no way she was going to be labeled as a weakling, no matter what.

Besides, she had learned from a young age that the strong ruled. Anyone with stronger fists was the king, and her fists were firm. If talking couldn't solve anything, she didn't mind using her fists to solve the problem.

This was why, despite being upset with the way Duke reacted and made her look like a fool previously, she didn't bother to go to him.

He was the one who pursued her all this time. So, why should she be chasing him when all she did was be brutally honest with him?

"What are you thinking about?" Duke asked gently as he peered at her.

Darica who was still looking at Duke, shifted her gaze as she looked to the front, seeing the familiar road.

"I am thinking about you," she honestly responded.

Duke's lips curled upwards upon hearing that and eagerly asked, "Ohhh! So, what have you been thinking about?"

"I am just wondering when you will get upset like that again. After all, with my temper, you will be having a lot of those fits in the future!" without any shame, Darica responded cooly to his question.

Duke was taken aback when he heard that. It was not like he didn't know about her temper or character. But for her to tell him straight like that, he wasn't expecting it.

"You_"

"Duke," Darica suddenly cut him off as she looked at him, "this is the kind of person I am. In the future, I might not have time to spend with you. So many people want my attention and I will neglect you for them. I will not tolerate you having other women. I am a jealous person and whoever belongs to me is mine. I won't tolerate any betrayal."

Seeing her talking seriously like she did that day, Duke finally accepted that he needed to be strong. His vain expectations wouldn't be achieved in a short time.

At least, like they all said, she was honest with her feelings and wasn't a hypocrite like most girls. So why was he overreacting?

And from the second he snatched her away from Tristan and others, he had already made up his mind that he was going to follow his original intentions.

He was going to fully date her, whether she was good or bad. Besides, it's not like she was a saint when he saw her, and neither was he.

He shouldn't judge her for who she was. At least she accepted his confession and made him so happy and complete.

Without spending time with her these past two days, his heart had been in shambles and he no longer wanted to experience something that painful again.

A relationship was something that was between a couple, and communication was key. He realized that fact and vowed to never make the same mistake again.

"I know, babes, which is why I am sorry for acting like an ass. The excitement just got to me so bad that I forgot about everything," Duke sighed helplessly as he apologized to Darica whose gaze was on him.

"I just felt as if you stepped on my pride and you disrespected me by saying all that. But during the days we were apart, I have been doing a lot of reflections and I am ashamed of myself!"

Darica listened attentively as Duke apologized to her. Actually, it wasn't that she was angry with him. It was just that her ego wouldn't let her go to him first as well.

Besides, she loved being in control. And if she were to submit first, she would lose face?

So, seeing Duke taking the first step in that direction, she felt very happy. At least he still knew how to compromise. And, above all, his love for her, she could still feel it.

If he couldn't accept it now, she was going to mold him into a perfect wife slave in the future. That was her current relationship goal as she listened with a smile as Duke continued to pour out his heart.

When Duke saw that smile, he fluttered, and a shy smile appeared on his face. As someone who knew how rare it was for her to smile happily like that, he knew that he was forgiven, and that was good for him.

And it also seemed that she wasn't that angry at him that much, otherwise, he would have failed to bring her home in the first place.

"So, babes. Will you forgive me? Can we start afresh and start to know each other again?" with hope in his tone Duke anxiously asked Darica.

"Are you sure that you can weather the storm? I am different from the other girls you have dated before. You might never see me acting cute or wearing mini skirts and dresses like others. And I am not graceful and elegant like what most people expect from a lady," Darica slowly stated before asking further. "Are you sure that you can still take that? Even when I still have secrets that might change everything?"

After staying away from Duke, who made her unable to think rationally whenever he was close. Darica thought about life a lot. She listed her strengths and weaknesses. When comparing herself to the ideal daughters-in-law for any family, she knew that she was lacking.

And she didn't want Duke to be pressured by something like that. If he could continue being with her despite knowing all that, she was going to give him face and maybe when she was in a good mood, learn a thing or two.

Or just be herself, since pretending wasn't her thing. She wanted to live her life as Darica and not someone else.

Which was why she asked all those questions in the first place. At least let the two of them be in the open first before starting anything.

Life was too short to be embroiled in a relationship that would end up in tatters and leave one heartbroken.
