1 Prologue

Oh, the wind, the breeze...

The soft summer sand in the beach...

The fluffy clouds that pass by by day...

The bright, blue sky...

A dark starry night...

And there's me; a shut-in who comes out only to purchase groceries. I know, it's weird, but for my job, I guess it's just right to keep me alive when I'm not working.

And there's the fact that I live alone, in an apartment, paying rent every month. Let's just say that time, for me, flows differently. With my kind of job as a Beta tester, I spend more time on the computer screen than on the outside world.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't have social anxiety! in just a really socially awkward person so I spend more time indoors, by myself.

Parents? Died a few years back. Inheritance? Bought some gym equipment and a large fridge. Car? Saved that for my brother who is still in College. House? That's with my brother as well.

I'm not the type of guy who would look chubby and nerdy just because I work as a Beta tester. I also have some time to buy groceries, exercise, and read books. Nearly at 30 now, I guess my job is the only thing I've got. But the truth is, I didn't get this job just cause. I took this job for the thrill. I've had this going since I was young and apparently, do did my mother. Sadly, she's not around anymore. But, nevertheless, that wasn't enough reason for me to just give up.

My name is Marshall Madden, and I'm a Beta tester for the thrill. No, Madden isn't my real name, it's just an alias I use online when speaking with my clients. It's also my Username as I go around games, testing their features for bugs and glitches. As per usual, that's not all I can do, but they can't know that.

I have the ability to access the world of technology. How do I say this, I can physically travel to the world of technology. I can also do some alterations while inside, so basically, I'm inside my device... ...physically and literally.

In a world where some have abilities as mine, we all meet up in a certain place, to make certain deals, create contracts, and start doing quests.

If there's one thing in common, we all play Furtherland Kingdoms as the IT:BT guild. That's where some contractors, amateur indie game developers, meet up to send us requests for beta testing. While for some other experiences, such as the company that made this one game with all the weird "blocky" features, these bigger companies do pay bigger and contact us with emails. Of course we're not so popular, not among most people, but we have been running our guild for some time now and have been earning enough.

But enough about me, I'm about to start a new contract...
