Chapter nine

"Collin is cheating on you!", Elle said, the few words she said shocking Trisha to the bones.

Trisha froze in shock her footsteps coming to a halt beside the table, just before she could hug Elle.

She found it hard to believe, and she didn't want to beleive what Elle was saying.

The smile on her face lowered to be replaced with a confused look, her eyes wide and her lips parted.

She quickly tried to mask her expression as she tried to hold on to the fact that maybe it was just a prank and Elle was pulling her legs.

Her previous disposure replaced the frown on her face as she took a few steps forward to embrace Elle.

As she took Elle in her arms for an amount of time, Trisha said, "Oh come on Elle! Cheat! I know you don't like him, but he could never cheat on me!", Her fake smile radiant, as she tried to beleive what she was telling Elle.

Unlike Trisha who didn't believe her, Elle knew what she was talking about. She didn't feel the need to hug considering the severity of the situation.

She pulled from the hug, the frown on her face still there as she really wasnt joking around this time.

"I would never lie to you Trisha! I really wouldn't, I saw him with my own two eyes!". Elle said, her voice a tone higher.

Elle watched the confused look on Trisha's face before she turned and headed to the water dispenser. She took a cup and poured cold water inside the cup before she turned and handed it to Elle.

Seeing that Elle was in no mood to drink water, she brought the cup to the sitting area in her elevated office and placed it on the table.

She took a seat, Elle following her afterwards. She couldn't even admire the aesthetic of Trisha's new office, she was too rattled to take cognisance of such details.

"What if you were mistaken, what if it was someone else?", Trisha asked, trying not to show how inquisitive she was at the moment, this was the first time Elle would openly point at him, it was definitely something to worry about.

"I saw Collin and Adriana walking out of a restaurant the night before while I was in the patrol car with the other officer on duty! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I told the officer to reverse the car, I would never lie to you Trisha , your boyfriend is cheating on you with your step sister!", Elle said, scooting closer to Trisha to grab her hand.

Trisha looked Elle in her eyes to confirm what she had just told her. Elle had been her friend for a very long time do she knew when she was lying.

Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the sincerity in her eyes.

' Could it really be true!', Trisha thought.

Despite the cold atmosphere In her office due to the air conditioning, a layer of sweat formed on Trisha's forehead.

She unbottened her jacket because she suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"What if, what if they were just meeting casually, we can't be too sure?!", Trisha asked, in an attempt to convince herself and her friend.

Elle was about to say something when Trisha received a call on her phone.

She rushed to her table to see who it was, "He's calling me now to check up on me, what you're saying might just be an assumption because you're not too familiar with him!", Trisha said before she picked the call.

Elle listened to the change in Trisha's voice, she watched the sublte disparities in her face while she talked to him compared to when she talked about him to her.

While she wondered what the next step would be for her friend because she had witnessed the scene. Her radio made a sound, it was a request for back up in the area.

Trisha got off the call, a radiant smile on her face as she had completely brushed off everything Elle had told her.

With everything she conversed with Collin on the phone, she wasn't sure she could take Trisha's word for it.

She heard the call on her radio and instead of walking her friend out, she snickered and gingerly strolled to her seat, " I won't be seeing you off!", Trisha said before she continued her work.

Elle walked towards the door, she stopped when she touched the cold metal of the door knob.

She turned to face Trisha, " I hope you think about what I said!", Elle said.

Trisha didn't say anything, and Elle knew Trisha wouldn't be bothering with her for the mean time.

She walked out of her office, slamming the door shut, to show just how enraged she was that Trisha doubted her words.

She wasn't going to call her too, Trisha misunderstood her despite all their years of friendship.
