27 Who is he? - II

Two weeks went by with her, avoiding any sign of George and his friends. The best thing was, they knew each other's schedules, so, made it easier for her to avoid him.

Every time she did that, Joyce felt her heart break into more pieces than it had before. Knowing that George was trying to find him in the University, and she was hiding from him in a dark corner.

One of the ways that he could find her was in the tube station. Which is why she requested her father to send someone to pick her up and drop her on a daily basis.

Thankfully, he had never questioned her, why, and neither did the driver when she said to drop her at the side entrance.

"Here," Brianna came out of her closet with a beautiful gown that she never expected to wear, "you will wear this for tonight."

"What is this for?" The Gown was beautiful. So, it must be an important event tonight that showcased her to everyone again.

"There is an event tonight that you will attend with Michael. It is official that you are now engaged and we will start to tell the world subtly." Brianna also picked out her shoes that matched completely with the dress.

"Is there a given time?"

"Yes." Brianna answered. "I have hired professionals to get you ready this time. So whenever they come, it's time."

Without another word, her mother left, closing the door behind her, and leaving Joyce alone with her thoughts.

Approximately two hours later, three people arrived in her room, dressed in completely black clothes, and shooed her offer to the bathroom to take a bath.

She pulled, proded and caked before the final product was ready to be shared with everyone.

Earlier, when she was going to all these parties with her father, she was dressed, simple, yet elegant, a neutral, makeup look on her face but this one was completely different. It made her seem like a prize, possession, something that is now out of reach for everyone else.

Was her father still trying to make an offer to the best and highest buyer?

Declan nodded on her door and right after that, he poked his head inside. "Hello, ma'am. Have you seen a monkey in this room?"

"Declan!" Joyce shrieked before chuckling. "Do I really look like a monkey?"

"No, you look like a gorgeous woman. I'm talking about the monkey I see here every other day."

"Shut up." She grumbled, but could not keep the smile off her face. She stood up, carefully in her heels before making her way to him, and giving her a small hug.

Breaking apart, Declan gave her a small case on her forehead before helping her out of the room and down the stairs.

When Joyce looked up after she stepped down from the last story, she found Michael staring at her. How did she not notice him before?

"Good evening, Micheal." She whispered the greeting.

"Joyce," he nodded.

The cars were already decided along with who was going with who. Thankfully, Declan was going with her and Michael in Michael's town car.

What was a town car anyway? It looked like a limo, just smaller in size.

Her brother was sitting in front of them, whereas she and Michael voice sitting next to each other. Joyce had never been so uncomfortable in life but it could be because of the fact that she had never been in the company of unknown men for a long period of time.

The car came to a stop in front of the building that had a red carpet rolled out in front of it. Michael and Declan got out fast, and the former came to work with his hand stretched out.

With her hand on his elbow, Joyce walked up the stairs before giving her jacket and walking into the hall.

Her first night out as an engaged woman had begun.
