Chapter 29: Upgrading Skills!!!

I was really tired last night as I fell into a deep slumber. When I woke up, the sun was already shining bright and the park was full of people. Some were still in their tracksuits doing their morning walk. Some were busy doing their own things. But mainly there were people wearing armors, carrying weapons walking in a group. I was shocked to see that. When I observed them with my heavenly eyes, I noticed that most of them were already level 15 and wearing decent items. I was wondering if people nowadays found combat easy or what when the system cleared my doubts.

"They are wearing such decent items because they can afford to. They aren't the dropped ones."

"What do you mean by they can afford them?" I asked interested.

"You might not be able to afford them. You can buy them in the dungeon's market section if you have enough money."

"Really? Being poor sucks. So, what's the exchange rate?" I asked gloomily.

"1 CP can be exchanged for 100 NPR or 1 dollar. Through the market section, they can buy almost anything as long as they fulfill certain requirements."

"Can I sell equipment to earn money then? Or maybe directly exchange CPs with real money." I asked with much interest. My mood really changed fast. The system was annoyed seeing this. It didn't like it not that I cared.

"Yes, you can sell but not exchange CPs directly."

"That's aright too. Being able to earn money is enough. I will be rich. Ha-Ha." I laughed happily thinking about being rich. I had always wanted to be rich and indulge in money. I was imagining all I wanted when the system poured cold water all over my thoughts.

"Ha-Ha. Daydream and daydream only. That's how far you will be able to enjoy them. You certainly won't have enough time to do them if you want to save the world you cherish so much."

"Why wouldn't I have enough time? I will just be more efficient in the battle. You won't understand the mind of a genius like me. Ha-Ha." I laughed crazily already cooking some crazy plans. The surrounding people were shocked by my crazy laughter and distanced themselves and their children from me instantly.

I didn't like this and glared at them; especially at the family in front of me. The mom was pushing her baby in a stroller while both the baby and dad were looking at me. The baby was even laughing at me more crazily than I ever did. Really annoying. I glared at him and did a shush sign. I noticed that the baby wasn't intimidated at all. I then did Undertaker's neck cutting gesture with my full serious face. The baby still wasn't intimidated at all. I was about to something more when I noticed that all the people who were distancing before, were looking at me weirdly now. I didn't need to be a genius to figure out the reason. I was embarrassed by my childish behavior but still, I steeled myself and walked out of there with a straight face. Only today I realized the importance of having thick skin.

I felt that my face was beet red because of the embarrassment. I took deep breaths and tried to calm myself down.

After calming down, I remembered that I wanted to ask the system about the upgrade materials for <The Stake>.

"So, where do I have to venture to get the raw materials for upgrading <The Stake>?" I asked.

"You will have to visit the dungeon, of course. Level 20 dungeon drops them though they are very rare. You will know when you enter them." it said.

"Alright then. I still have the last question left now. Can I still enter the red dungeon after reaching level 20?" I asked.

"No, you can't," it replied straightforwardly.

"Is there a way? There must be. I know there is. You are the mightiest and the greatest system of all the present. I know that you know. So, tell me please," I flattered and pleaded shamelessly.

"Alright. No need to flatter me. You can by upgrading your skills. There is mainly one way to upgrade a skill. that is by increasing skill proficiency. But I have another way. You can use your exp to upgrade them. So, your exp will be reduced and level will be dropped," it said.

I liked the idea instantly.

"Then what will happen to my attributes? Will they also vanish? Or do I get twice the attributes this way after regaining the level?" I asked.

"Of course, the attributes will be frozen. When you recover your level, they will be usable again. Do you understand what I mean?"

"Yes, you mean that my attributes will be according to my level and as soon as I recover my level, they will also recover themselves accordingly," I said.

So, I was excited to upgrade the skills. I opened the system tab and looked blankly.

"What happened? Do it faster. I want to see the upgraded skills." it said in a weird tone.

I knew that it was making fun of me but I needed to tolerate it. I cursed its 18 generations in my mind with all the curses I could think of and asked it politely.

"Can you please tell me how?"

"I am adding the new feature. Wait a second." It said happily.

I had already noticed that the system was acting weirdly for some period. But I hadn't noticed what it was. Now I knew why I felt like this. Before its voice was monotonous and mechanic without any emotions. But now they contained different emotions and even had the audacity to make fun of me. I wanted to ask about it but felt that it wasn't the right time.

I then chose the skill upgrade tab and noticed that all of my skills were up for an upgrade.

1. Triple Cut <Level 1>

Throws cut three times. Each cut deals 100% damage.

2. Fireball <Level 1>

Fires a ball of fire and burns everything.

-50MP Cooldown 10 sec Proficiency:30/100

Exp required:

+5 Level:30,000

Max Level:75,000

3. Area of effect <Level 1>

Covers a wide area and lets you attack multiple enemies with one skill.

Causes 100% damage to every enemy

Cooldown:1 min Proficency:1/100

Exp required:

+1 Level:1,500

+5 Level:40,000

Max Level:1,00,000

4. Charge

Description: Close in on enemies and stabs the enemy at its heart.

Requires Blade.

Deals 150% damage.

Cooldown:10 minutes Proficency:0/100

Exp required:

+1 Level:1,000

+5 Level:40,000

Max Level:75,000

Absorbs damage to counter enemy's attack.

Absorbs and reflects the enemy's attack.

Cooldown:1 min Proficency:0/100

I looked at all the skills and took a deep breath seeing the required experiences. I thought of using all my exp to level up some of them to max level. I doubted if all my exp would be enough though.

<Triple Cut> itself required 50,000 exp to reach max level. I selected it and chose the max level.

-50,000 exp

50,000 exp vanished from my experience bar instantly. And my level also dropped to level 19 at 6,900/50,000. My attributes also dropped by 20 points, 4 from each. But my HP remained the same. I was glad that it didn't decrease.

After seeing my first ever max levelled skill, I was really overjoyed. There was no cooldown and the skill itself was almost legendary. I couldn't wait any longer to max the other skills. Just imagining 4 or 5 max skills gave me goosebumps.

Now that I was level 19 again, I could enter the Mythic stage again of the Red Dungeon. After clearing all the mythic stages of the other 4 dungeons, I will look for Orange dungeon I thought.

I wanted to try the normal mode of the Mythic stage of the Lalith dungeon before heading to other dungeons.

"Will I get exp if I enter the Lalith dungeon?", I asked.

"Yes, you will. You had encountered the invasion mode before. But you will encounter the normal one this time. So, you are likely to gain exp," it said.

So, I should head to the Lalith dungeon again I decided. Before I headed there, I heard grumbling. sound.

I was embarrassed instantly as many people looked towards me, hearing the growling weirdly. It was really loud. Luckily, I was thick-skinned, so, I ignored them and hide the embarrassment in my cool outer façade. I then headed out of the park looking for a good restaurant. I came across a lively restaurant after only coming out of the park.

The restaurant was extremely lively and was full of people. I also liked the smell and especially, found the menu delicious, not the menu itself but the content. I entered the restaurant and searched for an empty seat.

Luckily, there was one table empty. I asked the nearby waiter and then dashed to the table instantly. I sat there and looked at the menu. After looking over the menu, I called for the previous waiter and ordered almost everything that looked delicious. The waiter was shocked as he was wondering if they would fit in my tiny stomach. He didn't know that it only looked small but could even devour the whole world. He-He.…

The waiter poured me a glass of water and went back to the counter to place my order. I looked over the restaurant and realized that almost all of the customers here were Rankers. They were all around Level-10 highest being 12.
