Chapter 49: Their First Meeting

Wyatt looked at his beer then back at Fiona. “You pick the spot, but I want to finish my beer first.”

She noticed that he didn’t offer her one. Nor had the bartender been down to take her order. She didn’t want anything, but the service here could’ve been better. “Fine. Finish your beer. Then let’s meet at your office.”

Maybe if she gave him the home field advantage he wouldn’t notice that she was lying. She left him in the bar, then drove to his office. It was dark, but a light on the outside of the building lit the parking lot.

Sebastian and Caleb were nowhere to be found, much to her relief. She didn’t want an audience for this. She sat in her truck, tapping the steering wheel to the beat of the tune on the radio. Wyatt would probably make her wait. He was stubborn that way.

Whatever. They’d get past this and start to work on the project. The sooner they finished it, the sooner she could put him behind her. The sooner she could pay off the loan shark.
