End of the Old, Beginning of the New

In 2020, powerful countries which could decide the fate of Earth went to war for reasons unknown to the public. It was a full-blown war as each country violated the laws of war, committing serious war crimes such as killing civilians and using remorseless torture methods. This would continue for the next four years as they were in a stalemate... until the U.S. decided to use their powerful nuclear weapons.

The U.S.'s decision to use nuclear weapons prompted other countries to also use them. Tens of millions died due to the catastrophic nuclear weapons. The usage of nuclear weapons would continue for months until one day when they were about to fire more nuclear weapons at each other once again, a bright green cube showed up in the middle of China, where nuclear radiation was the densest.

The green cube was a kilometer long and wide, it quickly absorbed and sucked in nuclear radiation from all over the world, completely cleansing Earth of radiation.

The scene of the green cube was broadcast worldwide, the ongoing war was on a cease-fire as scientists from all over the world studied this phenomenon. On the 2nd of July 2024, seven days after the appearance of the green cube, something bizarre happened.

The green cube exploded, sending shockwaves all over Earth, these shockwaves could be felt on one's skin but were not harmful. The green cube did not release any radiation, nothing. When it exploded, Earth shook a little bit but other than that, it was not world-ending as scientists thought. Though, they were completely wrong.

Within the first few minutes of the green cube's explosion, people claimed to have seen a large dragon-like creature flying over the city. Within the next thirty-minutes megacities all over the world were at risk of being wiped off the map.

Every country's military was now fighting against mutant creatures that resembled the once weak insects, wolves which were one and a half meters long were now three meters long and a meter high, ants which were killed just by accidentally stepping on them were slicing humans like tofu, a harmless mosquito could now empty the blood in a human in seconds.

Within a day, every living human was hiding and when the death reports came in, the whole world was shocked to the very core, 10% of humanity had been wiped out, which meant two billion deaths, three megacities were annihilated. This shook the soul of every government, they could no longer fight amongst themselves and had to unite, this unification was named the HDA, Humanity's Defence Alliance which was signed by every existing country, The goal of the alliance was to simply annihilate the creatures.

A month after the world-ending event, every country was on its last legs, ammunition was low due to supply chains being cut off, if this continued for another week, the fighting force of humanity would vanish leaving civilians to fend for themselves.

Luckily for them, the first human to have an ability appeared and after that, many other humans with abilities appeared. These people were called the gifted. With their help, humanity started fighting back the waves of creatures and eventually gained an even footing.

Some engineers were gifted with intellect and thus paved a new path for technology. They designed force fields that could cover an entire city, these force fields could reflect attacks and allow humans to pass through but not mutants.

Three years later.

After the beginning of the new world, humanity had stabilized and regained partial control of their lands. Most countries were at peace as the force fields could keep most monsters out. During the first year of humanity being attacked, they discovered that mutants would drop crystal shards which could be absorbed and make one stronger.

With the advantage of the crystal shards, the strength of humanity soared. Having stabilized for the last two years, they finally met an actual threat to humanity, the first primordial being, the Void Dragon.

Humans called this dragon the Void Dragon because its scales were dark, looking at it was like staring into the abyss, a void made up of nothingness.

The Void Dragon wreaked havoc throughout the world, it first appeared in the U.S. where it destroyed a megacity resulting in the deaths of two-hundred million people, out of the two-hundred million people, twenty million were gifted but they did not stand a chance.

The Void Dragon flew through multiple countries, destroying their cities with a single breath finally stopped in China where the strongest from all over the world banded together to slay the dragon. The Void Dragon finally fell after days of fighting and out of the millions which were sent to fight, only ten survived, these ten were given a name, the Ten Emperors.

Though, what the ten survivors didn't notice was that when the dragon was killed, a black orb the size of a fingernail floated out from its body and flew into the distance. The black orb would fly thousands of kilometers, where it floated above an orphanage, floating there as if it was waiting for prey.

As the black orb floated above the orphanage, a three-year-old boy could be seen sloppily walking out the door into the yard, as the black orb detected the child, it charged straight into the child's body making the child fall unconscious.

Seconds later a middle-aged lady could be seen running out in a panic and quickly picked up the boy. The boy's name was Liam Madden. On the day of Liam's birth, the 2nd of July 2024, the day of the new world, his parents and the people in the hospital he was birthed in were all killed by the rampaging mutants.

Liam only survived because of his father's quick thinking, as his father heard the screams of people he quickly hid Liam inside a basket and covered him with a blanket, where shortly after the room was broken into by Ogres and his parents were killed.

A day later, the Chinese army was taking back the area and searching for survivors when they heard a baby's cry, which was naturally Liam as he was the only survivor of the hospital incident. Liam was sent to an orphanage by a soldier where he grew up for the next three years.

The middle-aged lady who picked up Liam who was lying unconscious on the ground was called Emma, she and many other people looked after the children at the orphanage which consists of children who suffered the same fate as Liam.

"Liam! Liam!" she shouted, "Are you okay?" as Emma got no response from the unconscious child she quickly ran inside and placed him on the bed where she checked his breathing and pulse which were all normal.

She called the nurse to check up on Liam as she didn't know why he was lying on the ground unconscious. When the nurse came and checked up on Liam, she told Emma that Liam was alright and was sleeping, as for the reason he collapsed, the nurse said that Liam was just fatigued.

With that in mind, Emma could finally breathe. Emma was worried about Liam the most as he was the first child to come to her orphanage, when she found out he was the only survivor of the hospital incident and had just been born, she felt pitiful as Liam wouldn't know the face of his parents, because of this reason she is more lenient on Liam than the other kids.
