Acquiescence

The smell of alcohol hit his nose as he entered the room.

The sound of the television invading the room.

He sighed.

"Y/n?" he questioned.

"In here...." her hoarse voice answered.

He walked into the living room and gasped at the scene.

A packet of chips lays half-open on the couch.

Bottles of soju lay on the carpet.

Darkness invading the room from the blinds shut tightly.

Her eyes looked dead. Like she held no emotions.

"Can I say something...?"

"Hmm.." she answered gulping down the remaining in the bottle of soju.

"How long are you going to do this?"

"Depends on what you are asking Minho," she answered blankly.

"This drinking? This fake act of extended work? When are you actually gonna confront him?"

"Thought it would be much easier....but now..."

She laughed and looked at him.

"It's gonna be much harder," she said to him.

Minho looked at her, trying to understand her feelings.

Wanting to break the uncomfortable silence. She changed the topic in haste.

"You need to get going. It's almost five... Don't you have to meet your girl- I mean boy..."

"You can say it Y/n. I'm gay."

Y/n's cheek burned up in embarrassment causing Minho to chuckle at her reaction.

" 'kay, bye kiddo..." he said ruffling her hair.

She watched him walk to the door and come back again towards her.

"I'm taking this with me.." he said bending to get hold of the pack of untouched soju bottles. However, Y/n protested.

"No-"

"I wasn't asking you by the way. I was just informing you." he shrugged.

"Please-"

"I know you need this Y/n. But you are getting out of control. As much I want to give you space and time to open up, I can't. I won't lose you for a hot-headed ass like him. I need you sobered up. In the right state of mind. 'Cause we need to talk." he said as his back faced her.

Y/n stomped her foot and walked to her room as he left.

Bastard.

She wasn't sure who she was referring to.

Y/n sat on the edge of the bed. Her fingers running through her hair in frustration.

Everything had changed since she came.

Just like she had been changed from his heart.

She fell in the bed with an audible thud. Her eyes focusing on the plain white ceiling as she thought.

Of a way to get up and move on.

He was her beautiful dream.

A dream that made her soar up high and suddenly let her go.

Making her fall hard into the ground as he found another.

Of how naive she had been of holding onto a relationship he had given up on.

Her tears gathered but she didn't let them fall.

She wasn't going to cry for him.

He wasn't worth it.

She thought...

She didn't love him.

She could move on.

But again she felt as if someone was holding her back.

She wanted to cry.

She hadn't been crying since the day she left the house.

But she didn't. She couldn't.

Because she knew if she did.....it means she has to accept all this that had happened was no one's fault.

It meant he wouldn't have to be in her life.

Her thoughts were confusing as her feelings were.

She didn't know what she wanted.

She didn't know how to get up.

Or where to start.

Giving up she turned to the side and huddled to a ball to sleep but caught a glimpse of what lay on the table.

Unknowingly she moved towards it to see it clearly.

A frame of them.

A year back when they were in love.

Or that was at least what she hoped for.

His hands wrapping around her waist as they took the selfie.

The funny costume change.

The couple outfits.

How they fought with ice cream.

Painting each other's faces.

The joy rides.

Ferris wheels.

The promise proposal.

Happy tears and strong bonds.

However, a different feeling arose within her as she looked at it.

It wasn't pain or happiness.

Anger.

It bubbled inside her.

Her hold on the frame tightened and she threw it to the wall.

Its glass breaking into millions of pieces just like her shattered heart.

Carelessly picking up the picture she looked at it in devastation.

Blood drawing out of her fingers and soaking the picture little by little.

Her feelings went out of control as she stared at his hand that wrapped around his waist and his smile.

Everything seemed fake to her.

Anger taking over her senses she ripped the picture separating both of them.

But it didn't seem to calm her down. Memories of them came rushing to her.

How they bumped together at the park.

How her coffee spilled and how he offered her to buy one.

How she agreed, finding his little struggle of talking to her cute.

How they met again at college.

How they were paired to do projects.

How they exchanged numbers.

Leading them to hang out more often.

How they became friends.

How she grew feelings for him.

Her insecurities of him not liking her.

His confession to her after they graduated.

Her acceptance.

She threw everything on the table to the ground. And held her head in frustration.

Their sweet cuddles.

Every kiss they shared.

How they became each other first.

How they became more closer after that.

His promise proposal at the Ferris wheel.

Her acceptance.

Y/n grabbed the glass vase on the table and threw it to the wall.

Breathing heavily she turned to the right to see her reflection.

Her pale figure.

Her messed hair.

The dark circles under her eyes.

And the tears that fell.

Not wanting to accept she cried she threw everything she got hold of at the mirror.

Little by little it cracked yet it didn't break down.

She stared at her true reflection now.

The broken one.

Her eyes teared as she saw the worst.

She wanted to feel something.

But nothing was felt to feel.

She wondered how many surprises she would receive.

She had seen them the next day together at the park.

Just as she was walking from the store.

The other girl wearing one of his favorite hoodies.

She watched as they laughed and ate the ice cream in their hands.

Just like they had did once.

She felt numb.

She watched her boyfriend kissing her best friend's forehead.

She laughed mentally.

She had called her 'Sweets.' for a reason.

But she didn't expect her to be so sweet in betrayal.

She sighed as she realized the smile on his face.

The sparkle in his eyes.

It made her feel as if she was never this important and loved.

Sighing she moved away from them.

She strode towards the broken mirror and stared at it.

She saw herself clearly now.

But she didn't hate anyone else.

She found herself at fault for her state.

Angry at herself and their betrayal she took the broken frame of reflection to her hands and threw it to the ground.

Screaming out her pain.

Her frustration.

Strong arms wrapped around her from falling in the shattered pieces of mirror.

"Minho," he yelled securing the hold on her waist as she struggled to free herself.

"Let me go."

"Minho," he yelled ignoring her screaming.

The muscular man entered the room and his eyes widened at the sight.

He ran towards them, his boots crushing the broken pieces of mirror.

He easily lifted Y/n and walked out of the door with his boyfriend following them.

"Let go," she yelled at him.

He laid her on the couch and held her wrists tightly.

"Y/n..." his voice gentler than his actions.

But she struggled to get away from his hold, kicking her legs in the air.

"Y/n." his voice stern had brought her to listen to him.

"Let me go..." she pleaded him.

"No," he answered as his eyes teared.

"It's hurting Minho," she said to him. "Make it go away."

"I can't..." he replied.

"It too much. I don't want this.." she said helplessly.

"You don't deserve it. I know." his tears fell as she sat up on the couch.

"Make it go away," she told him as he looked at her helplessly.

"I don't want this. I don't want any of this," she yelled struggling again.

Minho brought her to his embrace and held her tightly.

She wanted to break free and run away.

She didn't want to cry but gave up hope when she realized he was strong.

She was very close to breaking into tears.

She didn't want to accept this happened.

She still hoped this to be a nightmare and she'll wake one day.

"Sometimes it hard to accept the truth when the lies were exactly what you wanted to hear. So don't try Y/n. Don't try to hide the truth your mind knows but your heart doesn't want to hear." Minho said.

Realization hit her like an unexpected storm.

Her dam broke and tears ran out her eyes. She held him tightly and cried on his shoulder and he caressed her back soothingly.

He had fallen out of love.

His laughs and sparkling eyes had proved it all.

He didn't confess because he was scared to hurt her.

She had been the coward of not confronting them.

They loved her.

And she had been hurting herself and them without confronting them.

Everything cleared now.

She had to wake from this because he had let go a long time back.

Her cries died down and she fell asleep.

A calm one than she the ones she had before.
