17 Chapter 17

"Ha... that's boring."

Mumbled in a disgruntled manner a young man of average stature about 1.77 tall, with short black hair and blue eyes.

The young man was wearing a combination Japanese school uniform, more specifically, the gakuran, which is worn by Japanese students in the fall.

He also wielded a huge spear that was now resting on his shoulders.

True Longinus!

"Haha! You look terrible, Cao Cao." Commented a man of two meters tall, well-built body and gray hair at shoulder height. He, like Cao Cao, was wearing a gakuran, covered by Greek-inspired armor.

With a scowl on his face Cao Cao said, "Don't irritate me, Heracles."

Heracles smiled as he saw that he had succeeded in irritating his friend.

"You two, stop it!"

Suddenly an irritated voice was heard.

That voice belonged to a beautiful young foreign woman, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a female gakuran, with orange armor on top.

Heracles turned to look at the young woman and with a smile on his face said, "You are very annoying, did you know that, Jeanne?"

Jeanne had an angry expression upon hearing Heracles' speech.

But before she could answer Heracles, she heard a noise that caught her attention.

Even Heracles looked in the direction of the noise he heard.

It was as if something was snapping.

"Where is this noise coming from?" Cao Cao asked, with a curious expression.

Jeanne turned her gaze to Cao Cao, and the scene she saw shocked her.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

"What is it, Jeanne? Why are you looking at me like that?" Cao Cao asked looking strangely at Jeanne.

No words had come out of Jeanne's mouth, and all she could do was point at him.

"Do you have a problem? Just speak up."

Heracles who was getting irritated with Jeanne, turned his face to face her, but when he saw the scene in front of him, he too was shocked.

"What the hell is going on with you two today?" Cao Cao asked in an irritated manner at the actions of his companions.

"The spear..."

Mustering all the strength she could muster, Jeanne managed to express those words from her mouth as she pointed at the spear Cao Cao was holding.

Cao Cao was confused for a few moments, but soon he realized.

The spear was making the snapping sounds...

'It can't be...'

With these thoughts, he quickly looked at his spear.

His eyes widened in disbelief as he saw the situation of the spear.

His spear, True Longinus, was losing its color as numerous cracks appeared in its structure, and a few seconds later it simply...

As he muttered these words, tears began to form in his eyes.

"Why is this happening to me? It's not fair... This isn't fair..."

Putting his hands on his head, he hit his head on the ground hard, while letting out a few mutterings now and then.

Jeanne and Heracles just watched in silence.

Only they knew how much this affected Cao Cao.

This spear was not only Cao Cao's Longinus, but something that kept him going.

And now, the spear had shattered in front of everyone.

Another reason why they just watched was that they didn't know what had happened.

As if sensing Akira's doubts, the voice of the system sounded.

'In the end, it all comes down to the system's help? That makes me wonder...'

'Who is the creator of the system?'

That was a doubt Akira had, but when he asked the system he never got the answer he wanted.

"I'm going to sleep first, hopefully after tonight, Nyx will have forgotten what happened..." With that said, Akira used his mind to put the spear away, which seemed to work naturally even surprising him.

'Tomorrow I will carefully check the spear's other abilities.'

Lying down on the bed, Akira closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Nyx sat on the bed dazed, her eyes empty as if she had lost her soul.

'I can finally say goodbye to being single.'

'But... The person who is with me...'

Her pale, delicate cheeks flushed.

'I was too impulsive, how could I have accepted Akira's confession?'

'Even if he is really handsome, and his feelings for me are sincere...'

Nyx could already imagine the uproar in the supernatural world if this matter was exposed.

This young man was precisely, Erebus, Nyx's older brother.

"What's the matter brother?" Nyx asked looking strangely at her brother, she wanted to make sure that he had not seen the shameful scene of a few seconds ago.

"Hades has called us to a meeting. It seems he wants to form an alliance with us." Erebus said in a calm voice, waiting patiently for his sister's response.

He didn't have to wait long, before his sister answered him, but unfortunately it wasn't what he expected.

"Alliance with Hades? Tsk! Tell him I have no more interest in such things. I'm just going to live comfortably, just like the other gods."

Nyx's unassuming speech almost made her brother faint in shock.

'What the hell happened to her? Is she really my sister?'

'Where was your determination to destroy the other gods?'

'Besides, it was you who initially wanted to join Hades!'

Obviously, Erebus didn't say such things as he knew his younger sister's temper better than anyone else.

"It will be a bit tricky to deal with Hades, but since you are no longer interested, he won't be able to force you."

Saying those words, Erebus said goodbye to his younger sister as he prepared to deal with Hades who would probably have a fit of rage upon learning that Nyx had given up on joining his alliance.

Erebus who was already at the door, shivered subconsciously as he imagined the scene of his sister fighting Hades.
