26 Tokyo War Arc Episode 2: The Ambush

An unknowing silence shrouded the entirety of the Tokyo Expressway. The civilians had long fled the premises, leaving the Devil and her adversaries alone.

The elite villains personally sent by the Symbol of Evil were hiding amongst the rubble after one of them exploded into a bloody mist.

They previously thought their opponent was nothing more but a woman with a mind-controlling quirk. How the hell did she make their colleagues explode?

One of the villains glimpsed at the Nomus they had dragged along with them. They thought these weapons were enough to take care of Makima, but obviously, these weren't enough.

"What do we do now?"

A bald villain questioned while staring at his fellow colleagues. What they formerly thought was an easy job became their death sentence.

The bald villain could summon spikes from the ground anywhere within the 20-meter radius. Unfortunately, though, he was out of range against the lady.

"We need to have the Nomus shoulder her attacks to distract her from our counterattack."

The villain with brown hair muttered his plan, to which the remaining elite villains agreed. The brown-haired villain could combust anything that his hand touched within the 2-meters away from the activation point.

It was somewhat of a powerful ability, especially against heroes. Just like Shigaraki, one touch would cause them to combust.

Such an ignition was a spectacular sight for the villain, causing some obsessiveness with his quirk.

Anyhow, with a plan in mind, the elite villains of the Symbol of Evil could finally make their move. They first ordered the Nomus under their command to attack Makima from all directions.

This would distract her for some time, and this would help them initiate their counterattack.

The Nomus began to move and separated themselves from one another. There were three monsters, two of which were lower-tier, while one was upper-tier.

Lower-tier Nomus have all kinds of quirks, and upper-tier Nomus have several quirks in their arsenal. Even the top-most of the pro-heroes would have a problem dealing with this group of Nomus.

So, the elite villains were somewhat confident these three could buy them enough time.

The elite villains continued hiding, and soon, the second attack of the Nomus began. They charged out of their hiding spot and sprinted towards the lady.

On the other hand, Makima merely smirked and pointed at the two lower-tier Nomus with both hands and uttered.

"Bang!"

*Splat!*

*Splat!*

The two lower-tier Nomus exploded into bits and swiftly met their demise. When the elite villains observed this, they knew time was running out.

They needed to move fast.

After dealing with the two Nomus, Makima pointed at the remaining one and muttered again.

"Bang!"

The upper-tier Nomu met an extreme force, instantly striking its body. It threw the monster back and caused it to hurl over a nearby building.

*BOOM!!!*

Dust shrouded the entirety of the area as silence continued to cover the expressway. But as the mist of dust dissipated, the current state of the Nomu was unveiled.

The once mighty Nomu that rivaled the strength of the one that fought against the pro-hero All Might had its limbs torn off with its body tarnished beyond a certain degree.

It was a terrifying sight.

However, the Nomu was far from dead, as it could be seen regenerating from its pitiful state.

But there was no way for Makima to give it time to regenerate, so she pointed at it again and began her bombardment.

"Bang!"

*BOOM!!!*

"Bang!"

*BOOM!!!*

"Bang!"

*BOOM!!!*

"Bang!"

*BOOM!!!*

With every single word, the building the Nomu hurled into slowly collapsed into oblivion. It was as though something erupted in the expressway since the fog of dust was entirely dense.

Makima stood nonchalantly beside the black limousine. She had previously ordered her men to not make a move and let her handle the villains.

After all, they would be nothing but hindrance to her.

"The monkeys have created some intriguing weapons. Even the one in my control is convenient. But the intrigue ends here."

She shook her head in disappointment and gazed at the distance shrouded in the mist of dust. The edges of her lips rose as she whistled in the silence.

*Whistle~*

It resounded throughout the silent expressway, causing chills to those who heard it. It was the tranquil sound of death, reminding everyone of their creeping doom.

The elite villains looked at one another while hiding behind a bus and nodded in unison. They were cornered, and they could only do one thing about it.

Fight for their lives.

As the elite villains were about to start their second ambush on Makima, they never noticed a crow observing them from afar.

Its jet-black eyes were pointed at them as if carefully listening to their words.

"3...2...1...Go!" One of the elite villains counted, and everyone immediately exited their hiding places while activating their quirks.

*Splat!*

But as the counting villain left his spot on the bus, he immediately exploded into a bloody mist.

The elite villains with him could feel the heavy winds. It was horrifying. However, they didn't continue to hesitate and continued on.

When the bald villain left his hiding spot, he swiftly activated his quirk and summoned dozens of spikes on Makima's position. Although she hopped back and dodged the assault.

Though... It was enough of a distraction as several elite villains threw their quirks at her with all their might. They didn't have time to waste. And they mustn't hold back.

Makima dodged their attacks and pointed at them. They expected her to mutter the same single word, but unexpectedly, she merely pointed at their colleague, and he exploded into a bloody mist.

*Splat!*

This shocked the charging elite villains. They thought she had to utter the word to activate her terrifying ability. But it was nothing more than a superficial action.

*Splat!*

*Splat!*

*Splat!*

*Splat!*

One after another, the elite villains turned into meat balloons that could pop at any moment. They were desperate, but no matter what they did.

There was no way to resist her ability.

The last of the elite villains was several meters away from Makima. He was about to attack with all his strength as the lady pointed at him with her pale fingers.

He felt a strong force consume his body, and he closed his eyelids, accepting his death. He uttered his last words.

"You must survive..."

*Splat!*

Out of nowhere, the brown-haired villain appeared beside Makima and touched her shoulder. He activated his quirk, and her body combusted into a blazing inferno.

The brown-haired villain sighed as he had reached victory. But it felt a little bit disappointing as his colleagues died to give him the opportunity.

Despite being villains, they spent some time together, so it was hard to not be disappointed by the results of the battle.

"I have avenged all of you."

The villain lowered his head and was about to walk away to report back to the Symbol of Evil. However... Before he could take a step, he heard words that echoed chills in his spine.

"I was wondering how the contract would work. I guess it's a lot simpler than I expected."

A soothing voice resounded behind him. It was mesmerizing, but it brought nothing but vast terror to the elite villain.

He was about to turn his head. Though a pale and soft hand held his face as he did so. The elite villain then noticed the charred body of Makima regenerating rapidly.

The elite villain wanted to say something, but Makima immediately crushed his head with her bare fingers.

Blood splattered and dripped throughout her ivory fingers. She shook her head in disappointment and returned to the black limousine.

The driver of the black limousine saw everything happen, from the beginning to its horrific conclusion. He never thought such terrorists would meet demise in a gory manner.

As Makima entered the black limousine, she gazed at the driver, which shook his body. She smiled at the driver and asked him for something.

"Please give me a towel, driver-kun."
