2 Control/Conquest Devil

Nine o'clock in the morning.

In a popular coffeehouse deep within Shinjuku known to its customers as the Stellarbucks, a gorgeous lady sat coolly before a wooden table while elegantly sipping a cup of coffee.

The beautiful lady wore a jet-black suit with a dark-colored tie and a pair of inky slack pants covering her long, milky legs.

Her crimson scarlet hair resembling a florid rose trickled along her back while her radiant golden irises gave a lustrous morning and hypnotic glow.

The alluring one's name was Makima, the Control/Conquest Devil.

Or, for the most part, the Conquest Devil.

In front of the so-called toxic manipulator was an importable computer called a laptop. Amongst the greatest inventions of humankind, in her humble opinion.

Someone gave it to her after she asked to examine it. Afterward, that person disappeared, so she kept the machine for herself.

'In this laptop, there is the digital realm called the internet. Shrouded with whole culminated information of humanity. Although, I disdain humans for some reason. The knowledge they recorded is useful.'

Makima nodded to herself and continued her research.

Since the beginning, she had been reading through articles after articles on the world-wide web. She also finally organized the memories of the thousand series inside her mind.

The information she learned from the memories about the series My Hero Academy has stood well with the knowledge imprinted in this world. This meant that the info of the thousand series was reliable.

Anyhow, there were various things she discovered during her reading session.

"First is the sludge villain incident, which happened over ten months ago. This incident was the series's starting point, so it's an excellent confirmation of the story's current timeline."

"Second is the UA High School entrance examination that ended over a month ago. A better verification of the timeline."

"And lastly, it's almost time for the school year to start."

"At least it will begin a couple of days from now."

Makima closed the web and turned off the laptop. There was no need to gather more information. She already had an idea about her circumstances.

She was currently in the first season of the series, and the story was about to officially start with Midorya-kun entering class A.

Now that information had been gained, it was time to continue to the next subject. It was about the abilities Makima had as the Conquest Devil.

According to some of her memories as Makima and her recollection of the series Chainsaw Man, she should have two primary abilities.

The first one was Conquest.

It was the ability to dominate and control anyone or anything within a nearby vicinity as long as the user perceived them as inferiors.

An excellent and overpowered weapon. Makima already used some of its power when roaming the streets earlier. It might have been the main reason why she had a laptop in front of her.

The second one was Force Manipulation, although not tested.

It was an ability divided into two primal types.

Execution and Oppression.

She didn't know much about the two primal types of Force Manipulation. Even the memories of Makima couldn't attain more information about it other than its name and an ample description.

There might be more abilities in Makima's arsenal of weird and overpowered weapons. But for now, these two were the first ones she thought of and could possibly test.

Nonetheless, speaking of tests, it was time to wonder about the results of her testing of Conquest. The things she discovered from it during the short testing phase early in the morning were quite a lot.

Those dominated by Conquest would lose control of their body and will. And when Conquest becomes disabled, they will promptly lose their memories during their moments of Conquest.

There was also the topic of how much she could have under her Conquest. However, the results were complicated.

The maximum number of people she could conquer was unknown. But at the moment, the current numbers under her authority had reached over a hundred.

Such was the result of Makima merely roaming around the streets of Shinjuku.

"Are there more you want to order, Miss?"

Out of nowhere, a waitress appeared before her table, interrupting her thoughts.

Having her thoughts obstructed out of nowhere didn't bode well for Makima. But she didn't say or do anything untamed and just gave the waitress a soothing smile.

"I have none, Thank you."

"Oh? Okay... "

The waitress was enthralled by Makima's smile for a second before returning to the world and bowing deeply to the respected customer.

"Then, I'll take my leave."

As the waitress left, Makima kept maintaining her smile. Though, as the waitress faded from her sight, the aloof Makima returned.

She exasperatedly sighed while thinking about the way she handled the situation. She couldn't even be annoyed with how easily controlled her emotions were.

If one were to describe how she was feeling.

Then, it would be emoting a happy expression despite being displeased.

"I guess I have been staying here for quite some time."

Makima realized it was time for her to leave the coffeehouse. There was no use in staying within such an establishment anymore. It'll be better to take her time somewhere else.

Perhaps, finding a home for herself.

And for those who found themselves curious, the hundred under her control were simply around her.

"Halt."

With a whisper from Makima's supple lips, most customers within Stellarbucks stopped moving. The remaining customers and staff, who weren't under her control, were dumbfounded by the sudden stop.

"Hey, what's wrong with you all?"

"Are you okay?"

"Why did they stop moving?"

There was one thing that made Conquest exceptionally terrifying.

Once activated on someone or something, it will never forget to leave a mark on that target. Even if the user disables its domination over the target.

This makes Conquest a horrifying ability.

Once controlled, they will never be able to escape the clutches of Makima.

Not wanting to hear more of the troubled sounds of monkeys who weren't under her control, Makima stood up from her chair and walked out of the coffeehouse.

After gaining some distance from the coffeehouse, Makima didn't look back and only quietly muttered one word.

"Disable."

In an instant, the frozen customers began moving and acted as if nothing happened. They noticed the flabbergasted expressions of the staff and found themselves confused.

"Hey, is there something wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"What are you staring at me for?"

"Huh? You look like you're looking at a ghost."

The staff got out of their trance and began asking the unfrozen customers whether or not they were staging a prank in the establishment. After all, stunts weren't allowed as they could disrupt others from their peaceful activities.

And so, they began bickering with evident confusion, unable to understand what the other was trying to say.

Meanwhile, the culprit of all their problems was calmly walking through the streets of Shinjuku with an uncaring gaze.

Makima didn't forget to observe the world with scrutiny. Though, it made her realize its beauty and calm. The rare peacefulness was hard to come by.

Its silence made her smile.

*BAM!*

Unfortunately, her peace got dragged down to the mud the very moment she learned to genuinely enjoy it. She couldn't help but wonder if the world hated the fact that she was a Devil.

"A villain!"

"Run!"

"Call the heroes!"

Out of nowhere, a villain emerged before her perception. It was a weird human with an animal-like leg. The bastard wore a mask resembling a deer and held a black sack in his right arm with a knife on the other.

The surrounding civilians were panicking and tried to escape from the villain. On the other hand, Makima, who stood in front of the villain, just coldly stared at him as if he were trash.

"Those damn heroes are damn dogs! Why do they keep chasing me!?"

The deer villain cried out in annoyance while stumping his hoof. He looked around and smiled upon seeing the little civilians screaming in fear under his presence.

However, he did notice a beautiful crimson-haired lady gazing at him as if he were a speck of trash trying to become an obstacle in her path. Such gaze made the deer villain frown, but an idea appeared in his head.

'Hehehe... I don't have to continue running anymore. I just need a hostage to make them back off.'

"Little red lady, you shouldn't have looked at me like that."

"You're about to become my way out."

The deer villain sneered as his smile turned into a lecherous grin.

But the scream of fear and cries for help he expected to come out from the woman didn't appear. She continued with her cold and arrogant gaze, making the villain furious.

"What are you looking at, you bitch!?"

"Do you want me to scar your face? Or wait..."

"Kekeke, you want to be penetrated?"

In his anger, the deer villain started insulting the alluring lady and pointed his knife at her body. He continued to bare his lustful gaze onto the lady's body and was about to scar the woman.

However, before the villain could continue, he noticed her eyes.

Such radiantly golden and hypnotic eyes.

"Wait, wha-"

The deer villain stepped back as he found himself disoriented. He didn't know what had happened, but the moment he saw her eyes. His mind became muddled.

"What did you do to me?"

He wanted to get away from the creepy and arrogant woman. But as he felt blood dripping from his nose, the villain blacked out. He lost his consciousness and fell to the ground with a thud.

Blood kept trickling from his nose with his eyes rolled up. He lay frozen on the ground while the nearby civilians distressingly watched him from afar.

Makima stepped forward and crouched with interest. This was the first time she tested her Force Manipulation. She used its lowest output to not accidentally kill someone, but it proved to be fatal.

"So, Oppression causes intense pressure, bypassing external defenses. But as a side effect, it will burden the user's mind."

"No wonder Makima uses sacrifices to crush a human body to paste. Though, it does make me wonder what the highest shrine is used for? After all, I didn't need shrines to use Oppression."

"Does it increase the effect? Perhaps the highest building bounded by the greatest authority called faith causes augmentation to this ability."

"I guess I'll have many more chances to test it in the future."

Makima shook her head and threw such thoughts to the back of her mind. This wasn't the place to be theorizing about her abilities.

Besides, she must have gained some attention because of the recent circumstances. Although, it's not like she planned to hide herself.

It would be too dull to be a watcher.

She had already watched the entirety of the series in her past life.

Why do it again?

"I wonder what they'll do with me? Will they brand me as a villain?"

Makima was intrigued about the things that could happen in the future. How would this world react to the existence of a real Devil? Will her identity cause some changes in the series?

Perhaps she can even talk with her favorite characters from the story.

"Though, where is UA located?"

The Conquest Devil couldn't help but wonder as she walked away from the unconscious villain who lay frozen in the ground, unmoving like a corpse.

A minute later, two individuals in strange costumes stood in front of the unconscious villain with bewilderment.

How did this villain lose consciousness in the middle of a chase?

Did someone punch him hard to black out?

There seemed to be no injuries, so why?

Maybe a quirk?

"What should we do?"

One of the two heroes was at a loss as to what they should do with the peculiar situation they found themselves in.

"We'll bring him to the police station to be judged."

"Regarding the situation, let's report it to the Hero Public Safety Commission."

The other hero's eyes seemed solemn as his reply emanated a grave tone.

For some reason, he felt troubled times would soon surface in the hero society.

But there was nothing he could do about it. He can only watch it unfold, as he was but a character in someone's story.

Heroes can only stand their ground and face the storm with shining and unwavering hope.
