17 Chapter 17: Wendy and the Time

Dipper's POV.

"Take your ticket," I said, taking the money from an individual who wishes to attend the party.

"You're not very talkative today, Dipper," Wendy declared, handing a ticket to another individual.

"Yet, it's been a few days since we last saw each other," she continued speaking in a slightly nostalgic tone.

"Sorry if I'm not very talkative today, Wendy, I just have a lot on my mind," I simply replied.

Although I said it like that, the truth is that I saw someone who logically should not be in Gravity Falls yet, but it seems that my actions have caused that.

"In fact, Dipper, you haven't told me about the adventures you've had since leaving the Mystery Shack," Wendy declared to pass the time.

Which, I admit, is understandable since it would be tiring to spend the evening in a booth with only a quiet individual for company.

"There was nothing really incredible from my point of view, except maybe a shape-shifting monster that I faced in the forest," I said, trying to trivialize the fact that I had visited an abandoned bunker and faced a shape-shifting creature.

"Oh! Go on, tell me all about it," she said, clearly enthusiastic to hear the story.

After Wendy's words, I spent a few minutes selling admission tickets to Stan Pines' party and explaining the situation in the bunker to her while avoiding mentioning its location and the code to disarm the trap.

"Excuse me, I would like a ticket," asked the man I saw in the line who should not be in Gravity Falls at this time.

"Here you go," I said, giving him the ticket after taking the money.

"Incredible Dipper, so you and Mabel defeated that thing," Wendy declared, impressed by my story.

But my thoughts were more focused on Blendin Blandin, with whom I was talking during his ticket purchase.

The reason for this was simple: Blendin Blandin has a time travel machine, and it is now within reach.

This will give me access to superior technology and more advanced technological knowledge.

"And you Wendy? Do you have anything new?" I asked Wendy, trying to change the subject.

I also wanted to calm my excitement that came from the idea of getting my hands on such advanced technology.

"There's nothing new except maybe this story with Robbie about an abandoned supermarket," she replied, pondering.

As Wendy tried to remember about this supermarket, I can see that Robbie arrived at Mystery Shack.

"Who is Robbie?" I feigned ignorance.

"He's my boyfriend, he's supposed to come tonight," she said without much thought.

"If he comes, does that mean you want to spend the whole evening with him, right? So you want to leave me alone with this work?" I said, frowning at her.

"Dipper, please do me this favor," Wendy pleaded.

In truth, I just wanted to refuse, but strangely, the idea of seeing her sad hurt my heart for unknown reasons.

"Okay, go have fun," I said with a resigned sigh.

"Great, thank you Dipper, and don't worry, Robbie hasn't arrived yet, so I'll stay with you for now," she said with a slight smile.

Her thanks pleased me, but I knew they were just words and nothing more.

"Anyway, Robbie won't last this evening," I told myself mentally, touching my U-Watch, my amulet, and my Memory Gun, which are objects I now carry with me almost all the time.

I'm going to make sure Robbie has an unforgettable evening.

...

After our conversation with Wendy, little time passed before Robbie finally arrived in front us .

He didn't even glance at me when Wendy introduced him, and that just gave me a clear conscience for my future actions.

"Where are you going?" the man in front of me asked, surely he also wanted to enter the party.

"Sorry, please give me a little break, I'm going to the restroom," the man didn't stop me.

On the dance floor, I could see Robbie with Wendy.

Although Robbie hadn't done anything physical to me in this timeline, he could only blame himself for being rude to me, and I also needed time to deal with Blendin Blandin, which was impossible without Wendy at her post.

I used Gideon's amulet to make Robbie take a false step during his dance with Wendy and injure his leg.

It wasn't serious enough for him to break his leg, but the injury was severe enough that he couldn't have fun for the rest of the evening.

After my act, I checked Blendin Blandin's location before returning to my post, completely satisfied with my perfect little crime.

[You're too kind Dipper, I would have broken his leg for disrespecting you instead of just making him fall], Gifany complained with a pout.

"I'm not an extremist , at least from my point of view, and can you imagine how many people I would have to break the legs of if they disrespected me?" I replied with a slight smile, reminiscing about the mouse protagonists.

[I understand, but it angers me when people insult you. I wish I had a body and could be present to help you in situations like this], she expressed sadly.

Since I've known her, she has never expressed sadness in front of me, and I admit her words touched me.

"Don't worry Gifany, and after tonight, I think I'll have the means to get you a body at the cutting edge of technology," I said to reassure her.

[Thank you Dipper], she simply said, but those two simple words conveyed her feelings well enough.

"Dipper, I'm returning to my post since Robbie had a little incident," said Wendy, clearly frustrated and disappointed with Robbie, who was clearly having trouble walking.

"Luckily you're here, I was just about to go to the restroom," I said, leaving without turning back.

I didn't waste too much time searching since I caught sight of Blendin Blandin walking randomly while looking at a strange object.

"Excuse me sir, but are you looking for something?" I asked, approaching him.

"Yes, I would like..."

Although I was a bit curious to hear his answer, there was a strong chance he would lie to me.

So I took the initiative and knocked him unconscious thank telekinesis, that way we all save time.

"Let's see this technology," I muttered after dragging Blendin Blandin toward the garage, being as stealthy as possible.

Once in the garage, I took absolutely everything from him, including his clothes, which seemed to have an interesting camouflage device.

"Truly fascinating, I had thought to use my knowledge of light gained from the pika pika no mi to become invisible, but the method used in these clothes is different from my thoughts and speculations," I mused, looking at his outfit.

Just with this, I have greatly evolved in my speculations and scientific theories; I wonder how much I would gain if I went to the future.

"But the most important question is whether I can escape the Time Baby if I'm spotted," I muttered, looking at the tape measure in my hands, which is supposed to be a time travel machine.

================================

Author's Note: In reality, I don't think Dipper would gain enormously from future technology since he could do it sooner or later, but I think their knowledge could help him in his theories as well as save time in his research, so he has nothing to lose and may even obtain unexpected surprises.
