47 Anothes

While everyone was asleep.

"Who are they?"

"I don't know, never seen them around here."

"Could they have come from the mountain?"

"Maybe, but there's not much there; they probably came from somewhere else."

"Somewhere else? But it's not possible for them to have crossed the big pond."

"Quiet, let's inform the boss."

...

"People from outside?"

"Yes, boss, they look like us but have strange things."

"And they walk better than us on two legs."

"Uhmm, that's interesting."

"What should we do?"

"For now, nothing, just observe."

...

"Look, they woke up."

"I'm not blind, and be quiet, the boss said just to watch them."

"I know, I may not be the smartest, but I'm not stupid."

"Of course not, you're definitely the 50th smartest among us."

"Hey, is that good?"

"How many of us are there?"

"Uhmm, 50?"

"Right, so you are?"

"The 50th smartest... hey, you said I'm the dumbest."

"Looks like you have a bit of intelligence."

"Quiet, stop this joking; we have a job here!"

"Okay, I'll behave."

"Great, look, they're moving."

"Let's follow them."

"Be careful, we have to follow them silently."

"Uhmm."

We followed the foreigners for a few hours; sometimes, they stopped to pick fruits from leaves and even stones. The one who seemed to be the leader looked very happy to pick up some stones.

Strange people, who gets happy with stones?

Despite finding them quite odd, I continued with my job.

As night fell, they stopped under a large tree and began to sleep there.

This went on for a few more days until they started doing strange things; they cut down some trees, placed a huge red leaf on top of a tree, and arranged the stones they had found in separate piles.

...

It was just another day of surveillance until...

We were discovered.

...

"Ah, boss, good morning."

"Good morning, anything strange?"

"No, sir."

"Great, it's been a few days since we set up this camp, but it seems our neighbors don't want to reveal themselves."

"I think they're just shy."

"I hope so too, Max. Really hope they're just shy."

"Do you think they still don't know we've discovered them?"

"Maybe. I think they still believe they haven't been found yet, hahaha."

"It's really a bit funny, seeing them think they haven't been discovered when they were found on the second day."

"Indeed."

"Should we show them that we already know about them?"

"Uhmm, let's wait a little longer. If they don't do anything, we'll contact them first."

That was my decision, and after a few days with no reaction, I decided it was time for a conversation.
