"Go, girl, I'm counting on you."

Twink, twink, twink!

To find out what was in that tunnel, I captured a small rodent.

It looked a lot like a rat.

It had brown fur and was about the size of a common rat.

It wasn't difficult to capture it.

Once I did, I noticed it was a female.

I tied a rope so that she would go ahead while I monitored if anything happened to her.

As I followed behind, I noticed that the smell had appeared.

I decided to extinguish the torch since I didn't know what could be causing the smell.

So, I removed something I had made the night before.

It wasn't very useful, but it was usable.

A firefly lamp.

Before crossing, I had found some fireflies on the edge of the lake.

I had to go back and capture as many as I could.

Luckily, not only did I manage to get several, but they glowed more than I thought.

It was like several stars in a jar.

It was quite beautiful, if it weren't for the fact that they were insects.

But with this, I managed to solve the problem of lack of light, even if only partially.

Still smelling the odor, but unlike before, I wasn't as afraid since the rat was still okay.

Even though my sense of smell is better than a human's, it's not better than a rat's.

So, if nothing happens to her, I'm safe.

It almost felt like a person walking a dog on a leash.

After walking for a while, I felt the rat stop.

Now I was anxious.

I pulled the rope to see if she was okay.

Fortunately, nothing had happened.

"Why did you stop, my little friend?"

I couldn't see any damage to her.

So, I made a decision.

"Let's continue, whatever made her stop doesn't seem too dangerous."

With that decision made, we continued forward.

Upon arriving, I discovered why the rat had stopped.

"A hole?"

She found a hole; this was the end of the tunnel, and also the source of the smell.

I couldn't see anything from inside the hole.

The hole was about 2 meters wide and circular.

"Boss, what do we do now?"

"Uhm, sorry, but I'll need you to go down there."

Twink! Twink! Twink!

I really think she understood; she seems to be complaining.

"Here, take this, you can eat it; I know you like it."

Twink? Twink!

It seems to have worked; I gave her a piece of fruit.

That's how I got her to obey me.

Ah, if only it were that easy with my other animals; things would be much simpler.

Slowly, I began lowering Amy down, as I had no idea of the size or what was down there.

I just tried to feel Amy's reactions as I descended the rope.

I decided to call her Amy.

Suddenly, I felt that I had reached something; it seemed like I had reached the ground.

I decided to take some paint that I carry and mark the rope.

I also noticed that almost the entire rope had been used, and the rope I was using is about 15 meters long, so this hole is more than 10 meters deep.

That's very high; if anyone falls from here, if they're lucky, they'll only break an arm or a leg.

I started pulling Amy back up.

When I could examine her, I noticed that nothing was wrong.

I made the decision to go back and build a rope to see what's down there.

"Let's go back for today."

"Uh, boss?"

"What?"

"I was thinking about the others on the other side of the lake; are they okay?"

"Uhm, I've been thinking about them too, but don't worry, I didn't leave the others there for nothing."

"Each leader I appointed has the ability to lead in my absence."

"And besides that crocodile, there shouldn't be any threat to the tribe."
